From reading this forum it would seem that lots of people are not happy with the current management team

but not many people are suggesting any viable alternative to what we have?

who could take us forward and keep us up?

any suggestions?

I am just as clueless thats why I am asking. I have heard the manager of Thamesmead is good or VCD but apart from that what is better than what we have?

Agreed, Nobody at a struggling Ryman club should be anywhere near the job if it became vacant. Its rumoured we get loads applying and often some names, so take a chance on a name who might have some clout and respect and be able to bring in players. Someone who has proved they have contacts and success is the bare minimum.

Do you not think Keith McMahon has good local contacts from VCD and Thamesmead? His achievements include promotion from the Ryman League North with Thamesmead.

There are always lots who apply and lots more who are active in leagues below who would be interested but the club needs to approach them in the correct way. However managers who are currently in the Ryman League may be the best we can hope for. I think I'd prefer that to an ex pro who is used to greater resources or a youth team coach who struggles to adapt to managing in senior football. Much of the problem that we are in stems from the clubs decision to effectively go full time with the 3 daytime sessions a week training. That has created a rod for our own back in terms of the players we can bring in.

So anyway some names

Jamie Day

Barry Ashby

Dean Frost

Keith McMahon

Tony Russell (Cray Wanders boss)

Richard Hill

Justin Merritt (current Oxford City manager)

Alan Devonshire

I think for that entire list I can answer either "we definitely can't afford them" or "Are you kidding?!"

I would point out that Hitler's views did initially resonate with sufficient people to get elected (I'd guess circa 10 million people!) Not necessarily expecting to get that level of response on here....

Are you trying to assemble a vets team or looking for a new manager?!?!

If Jamie Day can't/won't come back then Phil Handford is the one name that might merit consideration.

Has done a lot of work at this level for FGR, knows how this club operates and was around during a very successful era at the club - that assumes he would be interested of course.

Another option is Jim Dean and Vince Brazil.

Btw some people may think it is a bit of an insult to Loui after all he has done for us over the years to suggest his successor. That's a fair point. He will always be a legendary player in my eyes. However I have been a season ticket holder pretty much every season since 96/97 and yesterday was the first time I have seen us host a league club in the FA Cup. I can except losing but I can not except the decision to start KSA which I consider an insult.

Another option is to quit moaning and get behind Faz 100% considering you all demanded he gets the job after being catertaker despite knowing he had no mangerial experience.Hes bound to make mistakes and i sure Jamie Day made errors at the start. Its disgusting people want him gone so soon,we must give him a season at least to prove his worth.

If ur in the camp of give faz the full season then fine but he needs to be in charge none of this management trio ****, someone has to be the absolute authority figure, trying to blend 3 people's ideas into running the first team is madness.

Also if he admitted he made mistakes and is working to correct them then fine but in the trios mind they made no mistakes ever!

Faz has run Total Football Performance with Matt McEntegart for a number of years, so yes.

You are mistaken. We have been relegated 3 times with 2 reprieves. And I very much doubt we ll be a yo yo club. Last time we were relegated it took us 13 long years to get back.

At no time have I ever cried for Faz to get the job but I have always got behind him but no more.

The idea that you can give a manager months and years to learn on the job is madness in the modern game. In our situation it's not necessarily about working and improving young players it's about giving a player 3 or 4 games and if he is not cutting the colmans then jogging him on and bringing someone new in. Harsh, yes. Ruthless, yes. The kind of thing they teach you in FA coaching coaches, no. But it's the way of the world for a club like ours at this level.

Sorry but I just don't agree with so many comments about Louis
Yes I would not have played KSA and one or two others but to me when Louis kept us up last year that entitles him to this season
Booing at the end of the game (fortunately not seen on tv highlights) would not encourage anyone who came to the game who is not regular to come back
We lost against a team a league higher, full time and with some referees decisions in their favour
We are not in the relegation zone and with our budget and part time status probably and realistically where I would have expected us to be - we are quite clearly one of the minnows of this league

For me Louis has this season - If we get relegated that leaves us in the same position as would have been had Jody lasted any longer

I for one can't get behind him after Sunday's decisions. Yes, he's bound to make mistakes, but until he admits he's made them then he'll keep on making them. If KSA EVER makes the starting line up again, then you know Faz has learned nothing, or if he has then he's just picking him through sheer bloody mindedness because he wants to make a point to the fans

No no no no and no again - he/they did not keep us up - Alfreton kept us up by being useless and letting in more goals than us last season. We got 12 points in 11 games under the current trio which is hardly earth shattering stuff.

On the basis that we did survive I can understand why they were given a crack at the job but we are still around a point a game (and much worse than that over the last 10 games) so we won't be staying  up unless changes are made. Winning a couple of cup games against vastly inferior teams is just papering over the cracks.

If anyone "kept us up" it was Rosco. The performance on Sunday was bad, KSA was useless and, for me, the post match interview with the three amigos said it all - they were all smiles and not a word of apology to the fans for the p*** poor performance. If they think they did a good job preparing the team then they need to be replaced. BUT as pointed out elsewhere we are still above the drop zone and a few good results over Christmas could see us set up for a good run into the end of the season. BUT if the Christmas matches don't yield at least 2 points a game on average then the team management must change in time for a new manager to save us from the drop. So I'd say time is running out for Faz & Co, but not yet the end.

Let's bear in mind the mess we got in this time last year where we hired a new manager at a time when he had 3-4 games in 7-10 days with no training session in between, and not even the opportunity to meet the players before going into crucial games.

If Faz were to go today hypothetically then we could interview and hire prior to Xmas. If we dont then he'll have to stay over Xmas really, no matter how bad it gets, or sack him and we'd play without a manager, and by the time we then interview and hire in second week of January it could be too late.

A change of manager alone is not the answer, the club also needs a complete overall restructure of the club.

I am fairly confident that this club could become a division 2 club within 5 years if it wanted to.

However to achieve this the board would need to be open and be prepared to allow positive changes within the club from the top to the bottom or the bottom to the top.

(Yes I did say Division 2 Club within 5 years.)

I agree and some may think me mad for thinking that but ambition is as big as you wanna make it. If we are content to fight at the bottom eventually we will drop to the South. We need take example from some of the clubs below and above us because teams in the South and the Ryman are ambitious. Dulwich Hamlet for instance have a very good manager and have had cash injections. It may need the Hobbins family to sell eventually or to allow some joint form of investment but considering our location and the support we could get if we built the team up to the standard required for League 2 then we would survive at that level but it does need a 5 year plan and that does mean ground improvements and the financial clout to support a full time team and the purchase of players who could get us up Look at Bromley and the other example years ago was Barnet and of course wimbledon.

I think the result on Sunday should not be the reason for the sack. The management selections were bizarre and that if anything is consistent but it is consistently poor. They all tried hard on Sunday though crazy to put KSA in I think that was just setting him up for  failure and showed that the fortunes of Welling United are not safe in their hands.  I still do not understand why Loui is happy with the team and does not want to add to it, is he worried that that is an admission of poor management? what happened to the defender Fitchett he looked ok on trial. It is a worse situation than last year we dont have Rosco and Vose to get us out of trouble. Gavin Rose or Ashby would be good to take over because we need a tough manager to get this lot caring about the shirt they put on its not enough in dribs and drabs it needs to be every game.

Park Football - National conference 50 years so why not league 2 in 5 years

Southampton nearly went bust in the championship and are now in the premier division and competing against money bags teams they want champion leagues football with in 5 years and have a strategy to try and achieve this. The FA want to win the World Cup and have a strategy in place to try and achieve this. so why don't we sit down and build a strategy to achieve this?, it cost nothing but time.

Put it another way what would you prefer to invest in if you would be a potential investor sponsor or a potential new supporter go to.

club A: Vision: Unknown club B) Club Vision To be in the league 2 within 5 years

Values: Unknown Values: Creativity, Unity, Accountability, Aspiration, Respect

And we are going to achieve this by doing X Y Z. We also have a club DNA running from the under 8's to the first team for in possession /out of possession / transition so that any player breaking through the ranks knows the Welling Way no matter who the manager of the future is and what tactic's they play.

I would go for club B any day.

We start by everyone connected with the club from Paul, match day volunteers, community scheme and academy staff, the management team, players rep, WUSA reps, board members sitting down with a blank piece of paper and come up with vision and a set of values for the club and and then have a debate on how we can achieve this, and write a strategy paper on how to achieve our vision and deliver it.

We also have a separate meeting with the management team and community and academy staff and agree a DNA for the teams and introduce it into the team ethos.
