Has been deleted.

I think it went a bit too far. I understand the opinions of some fans but i think that crossed the line.

I'm also noting that there are a number of new posters to the forum in recent months, some of whom I looked at all their posts today, all negative, all slagging off the club. All who have put no name and a generic email address. While i'm not calling them "trolls" i am starting to question their motivation to post on this forum.

Easier to just remove the manager surely? Not that we have one, we're lucky, we've a management team.

Thanks Odin. Everyone is allowed an opinion on here. Within reason. There are a lot of posts that I have deleted off here in the last few weeks. A lot worse than what we have seen recently.

Polo, I respect your position as what I presume is forum moderator, but please explain why this item went "...a bit too far"? when others are saying much the same thing today on the Dover match thread topic. I am not a troll and I properly registered when I first joined this forum, so you can e-mail me at my private e-mail if you prefer? I stand by what I wrote although did not keep a copy, so I cannot re-read now and am happy to be "named and shamed" if I went too far, although it seems that is only your opinion?

I consider my entry was respectful to the owners, who as I said have worked miracles since year dot, clean in no foul language used, and no cries of "Faz out", I was merely attempting to compare our club with others at our level, and recognising changes in the way clubs are run from 30 years ago and Alliance days, now there are 14 former league clubs we are trying to compete with.

Having axed my item, I for one would expect an explanation as to why, and perhaps constructive guidance from the moderator on how to make it presentable?  As it involves a subject mentioned on other current topics, I thought it would add some healthy debate to what was at the time an otherwise 'quiet week' on this forum?

Your comments will be appreciated, forum mail or otherwise.

I can't remember what it said exactly but I wasn't 100% happy with it. I'm trying to think what bit but for the life of me I can't remember. I was alerted to the post by a poster on the forum who also thought it went a bit too far.

I'm not saying that new posters are trolls, i just find it strange that we have had a number of new posters and some that have stepped up their postings all since we have started our bad run. Around 6 months ago I found a few users posting from the same ip address who were banned, and now i look at things a bit more in depth. I always like to put a name to a face so I will extend the same offer that I do to any new poster, and offer them a beer in the clubhouse before or after a game, (although not everyone in the same week please!).

There have been lots of criticism over the last few weeks and I have been posting my concerns over the current predicement that the club find themselves in. Debate is encouraged on here and it would certainly be very boring if everyone agreed! I rarely have to delete anything so i do let most things go (within reason) If anyone does have any concerns then they can contact me via pm.

ok, well thanks Polo for responding, I know you do a lot for the club and due respect is given for that, just wish I knew what I said that offended, perhaps the informant can recall. I can't be a**ed to type it all out again anyway and most has been already said here and on other threads anyway so lets call it history. I shall just do a "Ballotelli" - "why me?"!!

I saw the post and I was quoted on it. I think its healthy to debate and discuss the current predicament. And yes we all accept that the Hobbins family have worked miracles over the years, but as Bexley Lion was alluding to ;  it is now a new age and  part of the reason we are struggling is investment and I think with no statement or action at a particularly bad time then we do worry about the leadership/owners of this club. If you go back in the archives of this forum you will see that there are far worse things that have been written. What we need from Polo is perhaps a few rules in his policing of the site-is mentioning the owners taboo? In life we all take criticism and that comes with responsibility. When I have posted I have included positivity and constructive comments/negativity if you want to call it that. However, thats all due to the current situation we are in. All Welling fans would  love  to be talking about the team winning  games and saying how good it was but at the moment we arent just loosing we are capitulating before the whistles even been blown. What happened to the team who played so well against Eastleigh  at home? There is a problem and it isnt all rosy in the garden. I for one will  not be happy if we are in the South due to a lack of action by the club particularly when its so plain to see.

long live open transparent debate!

I'm not going to write out a list of do's and don'ts, most things are fine here, if i see something i'm not happy with then I will remove it. That is done very rarely.

As a volunteer doing this I don't feel like I have to give an explanation over it either, just play nice!

Lots of people on here demanding some sort of statement from the owners. I'm not entirely sure what everyone wants the board to say in the current predicament:

"We're waiting until after the Dover game to sack the manager"

"We've asked a couple of people to take over once we sack him but they've declined"

"We've made an offer but we're waiting for a decision before sacking the manager"

All of which would make them look like total amateurs with no business sense or morals whatsoever, something that they would rightly get slated for, not only on here but in the press.

The other option is that they release a statement to the effect of "Loui has the backing of the board/vote of confidence", which I'm sure none of us wish to see.

With the fan base generally lacking confidence with the management "team" surely we've every right to expect some leadership type statement from the Board?

An acknowledgement of the recent dismal league performances; with an indication that they are working to strengthen the team; would be an example.

Continued silence can only indicate contentment!

I'm not sure a statement from the board would be the best thing, they can't come out and criticise faz, if they give him the dreaded vote of confidence then they will just get slated even more!

They are in a no-win situation again. I think it's best they don't say anything unless a decision is made.

So unless they are sacking the manager, what would you like the club to say?

To be honest, we have one official channel for supporters to raise the concern's the board - WUSA

I am sure that WUSA committee members are fully aware of comment's made by disgruntled fan's on this forum in recent weeks and if they haven't done so already bring to the attention to board that fan's are not happy via their Board Rep.
I am not privy to how many times a year the board meets in full so if one has not taken place recently make representation at the next board meeting so it can be documented in the boards minutes that fan's are not happy.

On the same token I would note expect WUSA to respond on this forum either but feedback to their member's through the official channels of WUSA meetings or Secretary notes.

I am not a WUSA committee member, but would say in the New Year when the committee decides to calls a meeting for it's members

I would not expect board meeting minutes would be readily available to WUSA members in the same token I would not expect WUSA minute's to be passed on to the board as a matter of course.

The difference is Morph that WUSA has a seat on the club's board, largely as we helped bail the club out in the past, the club has no seat on WUSA or any involvement in WUSA.

One of WUSA's aims, apparently, is;

  1. To establish a healthy relationship with the Club, with the aim of having regular meetings to discuss matters of mutual concern;

I would consider feedback and communication from the club, officially not hearsay, necessary to allow WUSA members to be able to fairly respond. That is not forthcoming. Why not? Discussion is a two way thing. Mutual concerns at the moment are surely high in number.

There seems little point in us having a WUSA rep on the board if the information then gained from it is not fed back to those that appointed that person. On the other side of the coin, how do we know if the points of WUSA members are being put forward to the board, and what the boards reaction to them is?

Of course that is somewhat reliant on a WUSA members meeting ever happening.

Without communication we are nothing as an organisation.

If WUSA can't hold a quorate meeting then that communication is, at best, going to be one sided and I would question the value of WUSA having a seat on the board as that individual will inevitably end up representing their own views rather than that of WUSA. The views expressed on here may represent those held by some members but they are a vocal minority.

I agree regarding the ability of putting a fair point across on behalf of WUSA if there haven't been WUSA meetings.

In the absence of any meetings, this forum represents one of very few ways of Welling fans discussing matters on and off the field. I appreciate not all fans use the forum, but neither are all fans in WUSA, and neither do all fans attend WUSA meetings, or when they do, some sit there is silence throughout.

Although the minority are vocal, the general view of that vocal group is that the most pressing issue at present, the management team, should go. I get the impress you are not in agreement on that point personally Andrew, but you are sadly in a minority amongst fans on that issue, whether vocal or otherwise.

I can't recall when the last board meeting was or if there has been one recently.

I can assure you all that WUSA does have very regular contact with the club/board about all sorts of things. Just because there is no news doesn't mean we are not working on various project/initatives in the background.

Regarding the management team, i've madd it clear on here what i think should happen, but like i said regarding the club, aee you expecting WUSA to issue a statement backing Faz or asking him to be removed?

I don't think there needs to be a statement on behalf of the fans supporting, or not, Faz and Co. As the fans views have been well expressed.

I'd suggest a bit of leadership to encourage the fan base to help the whole club through the current difficulties. Despite everything that has been said about Faz and KSA etc, including adverse comments from me, they are our team and need encouragement to perform as well as they can and perhaps gain a few much needed points.

Surely WUSA should know when Board meetings are given we have someone on the board?

On what matters are WUSA liaising with the club when WUSA haven't had any meetings to discuss what issues to raise? what projects are being worked on that are so top secret the membership cannot know, and therefore add support?

The matters that are being liaised on, what progress has been made? positive or negative.

Why has there been no official communication from WUSA to the membership, other than Rob's monthly account statement, since October?

Not a go at you personally Dean, or Matt personally, but as an organisation of 100+ people, it serves little purpose if there are merely half a dozen doing/saying/hearing anything.

As evidenced by basic issues like leaflet delivery, there are people that are willing to add support in terms of time, and ideas, but if the wider membership are not aware of what is going on then what help can they add, and can they be expected to be happy about not hearing things?

And regarding the management position, of course, that is the one issue I understand the club are limited as to what they can say without making matters worse, and of course, WUSA can't really either.

It's hardly fair for people to criticise the club owners when WUSA are doing that same. In that respect deleting the original thread was quite right.

I said that i didn't know when there was one. Obviously Matt does because he goes to them but I've not been at the last 2 committee meetings. We are looking at putting on some events like race nights but there's no point in coming out and saying that we are trying to do it, we will wait until it's set up and booked before announcing it. I know that Matt does have regular communication with the club and I don't know whether topics covered are sensitive or not!

So what communication do you want? We tried to hold 2 meetings but there wasn't enough people willing/able to turn up. Have you thought thst there may not be any news at all?

I understand a lot of people's frustrations but we do a lot of work behind the scenes as volunteers. Constant criticism is going to start making people like me think why bother? Which is happening at the moment.

One example...i know that after seeing comments on here regarding the bar and issues that have arisen over the past few weeks. Matt has had discussions with the club and also Marcus to see if there are things that could be improved on match days. I assure you that issues raised by fans are conveyed back to the club, even if there's no formal meetings.

statements can be in different forms. I think that they should give their support to the management if thats their intention(silence is wrong)or it could be the signing of players or like most people expect the removal of the management team. Are you happy with the silence?

So you're not a member but want WUSA to issue a statement? Get real.

As i've said in previous messages, it's a no win. If we did and supported faz, then it would get criticised, if we didn't back Faz then that's not a great stance to take. It's not a WUSA issue to release a statement backing the management team either! That's for the club.

I'm happy with the silence, there's absolutely no point in saying anything until the decide to remove the current management team

Sorry if I didnt make myself understood. I havent asked for WUSA to make a statement. I think the club should, otherwise the circus goes on. I will be joining WUSA though and then perhaps get myself to some of these meetings.

I think WUSA is being a bit undermined on here. If you're a Welling fan you can support the club in many ways (continuing support at games, buying raffle tickets, having a beer in the clubhouse etc. etc.). BUT if you want any views raised and heard at board level then WUSA will do that. You can join, attend meetings, raise concerns and it will get fed back to the board via the rep.

The big problem people seem to be missing is the fact the club/board do ignore some of issues raised. Maybe that's up to the club to decide what's important and what to respond to but this is out of WUSA's hands.

Personally I think the management issue is tricky as Polo has stated but I do think the club should be more proactive with issues raised from the fans (WUSA or not). There has been some improvement over the last couple of years with Barry trying to implement easier access for season ticket holders and the segregation issues but some points from WUSA meetings have not been addressed.
