looking at the matches to come, and taking a realistic view of the results, I estimate we'll be struggling to make it to 40 points, with perhaps +45 needed for survival it's already looking like a daunting task.

Any thoughts?

45+ you must be joking mate. We were lucky to survive on goal difference on 49 last season. I think we will need at least 50, probably more.

Southport and Halifax are flying and seem sure to stay up. But I belive two from Altchrinham, Guiesley and Boringwood are catchable or at least would be if we had a manager and a striker worthy of the name.

If you are right, Chris, it's game over as there is no way we are going to double our points in the remaining matches.

perhaps that's why there have been no changes as why spend the money trying to fight a lost cause?

We have 20 league games left.
To get to 50 points we need 26 more from those 20 games.

Thats 8 wins, 2 draws and 10 defeats,
Or 7 wins, 5 draws, and 8 defeats.

Can anyone see us wining 7 or 8 of our next 20?

Take out two almost certain defeats versus Cheltenham who are top, and you are looking at winning nearly 50% of your remaining games.

Tough ask.

Just having a quick look at the league table and taking into account an unrealistic view, I am now a lot more confident of staying up. We only require more points than four other teams. Kidderminster look doomed, so that makes three teams to be concerned of. Torquay, Altrincham and Boreham Wood are fellow strugglers and there will be other teams that will drop into the lower half. Factoring in the arrival of two new players and I for one am confident of survival.

At the moment I tend to agree with him. On what evidence do you base the contrary view? Any presumption of change in any aspect would currently seem erroneous and I believe a greater intellect than mine said doing the same thing from the same start position and expecting a different outcome was stupidity (Einstein). Oh sorry, it's football so the normal rules of the universe don't apply...
