Just a quick message to say that the end of season presentation evening will be taking place at 8.30pm in the Wings Bar after the last game of the season.
This evening will include a highlights package, goal of the season and awards presentations to players.
Hot food will be available from the tea bar on the night.
Cheers
Deano

To me the 'end of season do' is exactly that - end of season. If you get a season you can celebrate as well then that's a bonus but to me it's about being with mates and looking back on games, trips, towns, pubs, goals etc. Despite the poor season there have been highlights - Corne's goal at home to Tranmere, our winner away at Tranmere or even the positives that came from Carlisle. We've had a couple of good keepers, Barney has been consistently good, Lee in midfield. Lots to moan about too (obviously) but I'll try and enjoy a night out.
Also a good chance to acknowledge the work of the people who have performed this season - Tom with the videos, WUSA members who run the shop, commercial activities, people who sponsor games, companies who take ads in the programme, people who go to games, Sherpa who runs the bonus ball, raffle ticket sales by David and Sally, White Socks review (should be good!), boost the budget contributors, Junior Wings, WIE editor, printers, volunteers and so on.
Our club is about more than just the 11 on the pitch.
Yep...get that...but it it also about results....we will be bottom....not good enough....if you are happy with that fair enough.....but as someone once said....it is a results business
End of the season - time to take stock and acknowledge the lessons to be learnt. I think it may have been Churchill who said "if you ignore the lessons of history you are destined to relive them" or words to that effect. Main lesson from the season?

I think you need to look at your dot button. It appears to be 'sticking'.
Who said that anyone is happy with where we will finish? I am not and the thought of having to go to Wealdstone, Canvey Island (for Concord), Bishops Stortford and (potentially) East Thurrock rather than Chester, Halifax, Macclesfield etc. does not fill me with joy.
Whilst I am well aware that it is a 'results business' that does not detract from the fact that it is an end of season evening. As Gary said, many people have done a lot of hard work behind the scenes and this should be celebrated. It is not their fault that we have been relegated.
There's a few players that don't fit into the above Bexley Lion. Barney Williams gives 100% every game and has played well this season. The likes of Barney, Lokko, Rodak, Lee for instance can hold their heads up high.

And I agree with you dean, but to have everyone there is just a embarrassment, you see it yourself today, to many could not give a **** about welling and won't be bothered about it.
Hand out trophies on pitch before game.

I agree completely Polo, however to have a 'celebratory' event when you have finished bottom of the pile, hardly a time of celebration? I would still be embarrassed if I was one of those four at having to attend this event. Perhaps the owners will be the only celebrants???
Our fans can rightly say what they like. Trolls like bexleylion can fk right off.
Hes gone from being a casual observer a few months ago to knowing everything despite not going to games and no one knowing him, him and a few troll accounts arent worth a wank.

Jog on
Up the Wings, we will be back.
Wow, and we almost made it across the line this season without much interference from the Troll catchers!! 'Ghost', FYI, I came to the Bexley area almost 40 years ago, which coincided with Wings moving into PVR, not there for every game but at least a half most seasons, this season included, and a couple of aways for good measure, through good times and bad times. And I have never claimed to know everything.
I shall not resort to your gutter language, but please note I am not alone in my thoughts about the presentation evening, but for some reason you have selected me for your foul and abusives. Perhaps it is because you are a closet charlton supporter and are equally upset at their plight? And perhaps you are wishing to keep this forum confined to those who fit your special clique?
Odin, I strongly suspect that 'Ghost' is a far more experienced forum contributor than his tally suggests, a troll catcher reinvented perhaps?
With whats happened with team FAT departing, all the non performing players and all this other stuff I don't see the point of this event taking place any more. Acknowledge the contribution of all the volunteers but feel this has been thrown away by what has now transpired. Will attend the final but not the other event, no point, the club is headed who knows where!!
As an earlier post said, if you don't want to attend, don't attend.
I know that Tom has done a lot of work in getting montages done and I want to see them.
There are many supporters that have done things that deserve mention. Some have done things for the club and others have worked hard in helping fellow supporters (such as Yazza, Dean and Steve with away travel).
Hopefully some players will put in an appearance to thank the supporters who have suffered more thin than thick. I know some of them care.
If the event is cancelled, I will be disappointed.
Ok, Point taken, I just remember when we were last relegated at Hednesford, I was there and it was a real downer. Hope everyone has a good evening and respect to all the folks who have put in their valuable time and money to support the club.
After the events this week and after some long chats, it's been decided that the end of season presentations will no longer be taking place.
Apologies to all who were looking forward to it. It just doesn't seem right to have it this season.
Presentation of player of the year will be taking place on the pitch before the game.
I'm afraid I won't be there next week as i'm away at a competition but I would like to thank everyone who helps out at the ground on match days or the club in general for all your hard work off the pitch. I look forward to having a beer with you pre-season!

Despite previous comments that were said in anger after chester game I do think it's a shame. Tom does a lot of hard work putting stuff together as do others during the season. But I also understand the decision. What would of been nice is maybe if tom was asked to put together a montage of the last 3 seasons because let's face it, we may have had some bad times but we've had some amazing times to. It's been a great 3 season battling above our weight in terms or resources. Let's see what the future holds but I believe we will be back. #coyw
Perhaps there should be a start of the season dinner, when the key volunteers can be thanked for their continued input and we can hear from the then established management team what the targets / plans are for the season?

Mark Goldberg said on Saturday that he would be more than happy to talk to the supporters about his intentions and plans. Damian Matthew appeared very enthusiastic too.
