It seems that we have signed a striker: Bermudan striker Jonte Smith. Apparently trained with us last season. The catch - played for a team further down the pyramid: Lewes.

Faz and co were looking at him last year but didn't go for him

Yes he's played a level below but 24 goals in 19 games for the Met Police and 10 in 15 for Lewes suggests he knows where the net is. Worth a gamble in my book.

If confirmed then welcome Jonte!

If he has that kind of goal ratio then I'm sure he is worth the gamble, hopefully can continue his performance this campaign

He was with Crawley Town as a youngster, also played a few games for Sutton United and a number of games for Havant & W, Eastbourne Borough and Gloucester City. Crucially, he scored a goal against Bromley in 2012 - a performance that was probably witnessed by MG. Oh, and he is 6ft 1" tall.

Well, 2 years ago he could head, lob and tap in the goals and make some decent runs. At only 21 still, he's got to be a prospect for Conf South and very much deserves his chance. Welcome.

I see this as a positive in that they guy seems to hove been a proven striker - in the lower leagues. Be good to see some new faces that have played at a higher level though. But a warm welcome to him.

I'm surprised he wasn't offered to Frost and Ashby given who his agent is.

Looking at their record with "strikers" last season the fact that Faz and co didn't fancy the bloke fills me with more confidence about his chances!
