All loans were at an end.... Jody Brown who was of course terrible was actually left with if I remember 11 fit players some of whom were kids
He had two games to look at what he had, then the entire window to bring in his players. Not ideal as there was little time to allow the new squad to gel, but he didn't leave anyone in the lurch.
What's a matter with you at the moment? Such a grumpy bastard.
He brought us more success than we could have ever dreamed of on a shoestring of a budget. That's the Memory he left nothing else. Cheer up may never happen.

The second poing is plainly wrong....ran down the loans...had nothing ready to go...left the new manager with a Christmas period with very few players....
Now..I would probabld and indeed have wound down one job when I knew I was leaving for a new job...I am just stating what the facts were
Not grumpy by the way,,,very excited about the future...at last a chance to move on as a club and when we get promoted again we will be better placed
Jamie Day walks on water. IMO. Every game he put 11 players on the field who knew what they were doing and fought for every ball. We've not seen that on many occasions since he left.

I still can't agree with you. "Wound down a job" thats why then the day before he was appointed Fleet boss and knew he was going, he secured three points against Telford, which very much went towards keeping us up. I think your argument is in fact an insult towards one of the best manager's the club has ever had. Keep smiling though

He picked KSA several times...
...and got better performances out of him than any other manager.

I believe KSA did actually try his best unfortunately his best was absolute pony and his reaction time was 20 minutes behind everyon else. Jamie had an off day when he took him on.

Jamie Day was an excellent manager for WUFC and should always be remembered as such.
KSA never ****ing tried - that was part of the problem. His "warm up" against Grimsby was an absolute disgrace.
The only time I had any sympathy for him was when he started the Carlisle game which was possibly the worst management decision Faz and Co ever made (and there are plenty to choose from)
People have very short memories. Remember when we were trying to stave off HMRC from winding us up? Jamie, Ash, Frosty, JT and the players stood by us, stayed, and then won us promotion. Heroes, all of them.
We may not have had many players left when JD left but those that were were putting it in in a reasonably effective formation.
Would we have lost Marsh anyway, just to a different club? Who knows?
In the end Jody Brown had 4 games where he couldn't do much except play what he had and then do something. You could argue he wasn't encumbered by a surfeit of players he did not want. That allowed him to bring in some right dross but also a couple of gems who proved key in our survival.
I am sure there were times Jamie could have chucked it in beforehand (i.e. HMRC episode). He didn't. Continuing to remain suited him and it suited us. In the end his career needed to go elsewhere. Would he have been happy if he had stayed with us and not known how Ebbsfleet would have turned out. Probably not. Would we have been relegated in the following two seasons. Who knows? Enough time has past that both parties have had more than enough time to make subsequent mistakes that makes speculation futile.
I do know he got us promoted, gave us a good team to watch and did enough for most of us in the Conference National when we knew it would be tough. I can only think of two negatives, one of which I did not see. I am told the celebrating of Ebbsfleet knocking us out of the Trophy didn't appeal to most who were there so soon after he had left. More significantly, the loss of discipline at Southport. We will never know if he had been available for the Maidstone game if the outcome would have been different. However, you could argue that the fact they were able to beat us, go on the subsequent cup run and receive a large injection of cash as a result, has had and will have a longer term impact on us and the rest of Kent football.
If you look over the whole piece though, I don't see how you could say he was anything other than very good news for us in a managerial capacity.
There's an article on the Braintree forum saying that JD is looking to bring in Dean Frost as his assistant and Jamie Turner as GK coach. No mention of Ashby.
