Looking at the Charlton Atheltic forums, there seems to be quite a few of their fans suggesting they're going to boycott Charlton and going to Non-League games instead, with many seemingly opting for us. One or two have even said they're getting a Welling Season ticket. Quite impressive considering we're still not advertising next season's season ticket prices....
Given we normally get a 2000+ crowd for the Charlton friendly it might be a good idea for the guys at the turnstiles to hand out a flyer for the Season Tickets and/or the Wings Six Picks offer (if we're still doing that next season) to everyone coming through the turnstiles.
Agree with the opening post, but why should we discount fans of another club just because they can't be bothered with there own!!!!! That's like if we went under a few years back and asking vcd or theamsmead town to do it. Ridiculous.
Really.....Lets get as many new season ticket holders as possible.....surely good news
Why should a defecting Charlton supporter pay less than a re-newing Welling supporter?
Don't worry about what discount they'll be getting just welcome them through the gates. Hopefully they'll be back time and time again. Promote sales don't put people off
I'm expecting this game to become a complete farce if if they still have the same owners. If you look at what has happened In their previous home games they will have no trouble doing the same sort of things out our ground.

Wouldn't expect anything to happen tbh. One of the main drivers behind the protests is the publicity. Not much to be gained by disrupting a friendly, especially one that's a big money spinner for a club a lot of fans have affection for. If anything, it would generate adverse publicity.
Having attended their last league game at the Valley against Burnley we can look forward to a few flares and also the Hobbins won't have to buy any toilet roll for the whole of next season if they throw as many on the pitch as they did at that game!

With Goldberg around I was hoping I could wipe me arse with Andrex rather than sandpaper...
Would the Charlton fans attending pre-season friendlies not be the ones who are likely to be sticking with Charlton?
I'd like to think some are coming to support their local club at the same time.
With regards to disorder, I doubt that very much. On that subject I've discovered that the reason their cheapest season ticket is roughly the same price as our early bird season ticket offer is because the seats in their North Lower stand are now restricted view. The club have put netting up in front of the stand to stop items being thrown onto the pitch. A lot of people who bought season tickets for that stand before the netting went up have asked Charlton for refunds but been told to eff off. Hard to believe they were a Premiership club not that long ago.
I think many Charlton fans have realised that turning up to games and protesting is not going to deter the owners as they're still putting money in the owners' pockets. Just as we found towards the end of last season, Charlton fans are starting to realise that voting with their feet and boycotting games is the only way to get a response.

We should not get involved in Charlton's politics, no matter with whom we would align - and knowing the majority of Wings fans I can guess where that would be. All we know is that Charlton Athletic had the good grace to continue the tradition of playing us in the new season curtain-opener which is a big money-spinner for our club. We should make Charlton fans and officials welcome, no matter what their views and no matter how they wish to express them. However, I think they will enjoy the early season friendly as usual and not spoil our day - but, if they wish to protest, that is their right.
If they wish to protest then yes let them, if done in the right way. I.e singing anti songs/banners or boycotting games. Unless I'm mistaken I've seen no action been taken by the Fa over what happened at the previous home games. In which games had to be stopped a number of times. If it was millwall, Tottenham, Chelsea, Man utd...The list goes on I think it would of been very different.
