Not a lot around this place...little pub called the bull round the corner, looks like one for the real ale guys. Hopefully put in a shift tonight and kick on from there.

I wasn't there so wouldn't be fair to comment on the overall team performance but it's infuriating to see us concede another pen. However well done to all the supporters who made the somewhat tricky trip. Have a safe journey home.

Very poor 2nd half performance. First half we played well. Got the ball down, played it wide and knocked it about well. 2nd half we just kept hoofing it long, much to the delight of the 2 East Thurrock centre backs who won almost every header. Fitness levels do not look great either which many other fans agreed with. The positive is that it's a point on the board, but if we had played the second half like we did the first, we probably would have won.

Another penalty given away too, i wish our defenders would stay on their feet!

4 (FOUR!) penalties in 4 games is just unacceptable. 1st half very good, 2nd half dreadful. A very average season ahead with this squad I'm afraid.

Agree with Red Merlin not acceptable re pens.
Sat to deep & invited them in. No surprise they drew level.
Feels more like a loss than a draw.

We won't score enough goals to stay up. Squad not good enough for this level. Going down. Goodnight

On paper this squad is more than good enough to compete at this level. They are letting the manager down at the moment.

I'm not so sure the squad is good enough. I see weakness right through out it.

This situation is very worrying. We've suffered many losses and below average performances over the last couple of seasons but in the league above and against much better opposition. I wasn't there last night but from the comments I've seen it was another indifferent showing. 1 point from 12. Second from bottom of the National South. Two of the losses were against teams who are also near the bottom of the table. It's got to start improving drastically and soon. The games will soon fly by and if we don't start getting wins we will be in big trouble by October/November.

I take it back regarding my comments over the penalty. I've just seen Tom's video. Looks like the East Thurrock defender tripped over his own feet. Never a penalty.

Tactically naive yet again, any time ET had a corner/ free kick or even a throw in near our box all 10 outfield players are within 25 yards of our goal. Ball gets cleared and ET's defender have all time in the world to control it and then play a measured pass back into the danger areas. Main striker should be on the halfway line ready for the chance of a quick break. Who is telling the players to do this? Several times we had the chance to break quickly but Lewington has had to wait for the strikers to run 30 up the pitch giving the defence time to recover. Second half performance was diabolical, could string more than2 passes together and ball control was shocking.
God help us when we play a good team.

Let's not be too negative, a draw away from home is not a disaster, we now just need to start winning at home. Another doubtful penalty just shows that when your on a bad run things just don't go your way. The positive is the good first half performance.

Again on a straws and clutching note, it's still not as bad (well not yet anyway!) as it was at the start of the 2004/05 season when we only had 3 points out of 24 (W1 D0 L7 F14 A26).
It was only after that 7th defeat, 6-5 against Bognor Regis Town, that we finally started to improve. However, in saying that, it wasn't until the beginning of October!

Really? How many of them would have got in our team in the last few seasons we had in this league?

I said compete. The last 3 seasons in Conf South under Day we finished 3rd (before points deduction), 3rd and 1st.  So yes the squad is not at that level and not yet a team but there is no need to despair just yet.

Great start last night and were the better side for most of the first half. I don't know if the half time tea was drugged and/or it was a tactical decision but we sat far too deep in the second half and eventually paid the price. It looked like a penalty from the other end buy now I understand it never was but, if you invite that much pressure, then mistakes from players/officials will happen. Once again we lacked sharpness the longer the game went on and they were quicker to everything. Having said that there were a couple of great set piece deliveries in both halves and if we could learn to head the ball rather than fresh air then we would have been two or three up and had the game won.

Not surprised MG made changes but it is a bit worrying that after three games, and with a fairly large squad, we already have a centre back at right back and another centre back in midfield (although Hayles acquitted himself ok last night to be fair) Didn't really understand the substitutions either (whether tactical or down to injury) as none of the three that came on really added anything. We have five strikers on the books and must have played about ten different combinations up front over the four games thus far. Not sure if any of them are out and out goalscorers but we have to find a combination and at least try and give them time to gel. I don't think the current management regime will stand on ceremony if things aren't working out but, this was the squad they chose to start the season with, and can we be sure that any replacements would be better....??

A step in the right direction (albeit a small one) but still lots of room for improvement starting on Saturday...

Up the Wings!

It's easy to criticise the players but I believe the crap start is down to the management and coaching. The team isn't organised. Not sure on what our tactics are or how we want to play. They don't look as fit as other teams. That combined with dwindling confidence and moral doesn't look good in the near future. We have to start putting it right soon.....very soon IMO.
