Just saw this on the main site and think it's a fantastic idea. With there no longer being a Danson Festival, with decent publicity we could get a decent turnout for this.

Although we can promote this through social media and leafleting, it might be worth speaking to the local papers and seeing if they'll run an article on it.

From what I remember it was cancelled a couple of years ago due to Danson Park supposedly being waterlogged. Then the council cancelled the festival permanently due to "cost cuts." If anything I thought it made the council money.

yeah you would have thought they made money or that the festival comes under their remit as a public service as so many people turn up. Oh well got to make cuts on everything apart from the Bexley Council CEO's salary which is £160k plus benefits....

If they are kind enough to give us planning permission for redevelopment of PVR then they will be worth every penny!

This is fantastic news for Welling United FC to arrange this BANK HOLIDAY FUNDAY EVENT for 29th August 2016.

Since Bexley Borough have stopped the Danson Show the amount of attractions in the borough are very limited, especially for the children, during the BANK HOLIDAY'S. This event could be a great day out for many families to round off the Bank Holiday WITH PLENTY OF FUN, LIVE MUSIC & DJ, before returning back to work on Tuesday.

It needs everyone of us to pull together and SPREAD THE WORD THROUGHOUT THE BEXLEY BOROUGH and help make this the start of an ANNUAL EVENT that we can all look forward to in the foreseeable future. PLEASE HELP TO MAKE THIS EVENT A SUCCESS!!

Thanks for your anticipated support,

ERIC

A great event that should raise the profile of the Club in the community, and bring in a few more fans, should be a great day.

but remember the main aim on Monday week is the 3 points!

It's a great idea, attracting the kids and making them want to return brings their parents back too. I take it there's no Junior Wings this season though?

Above is the Facebook link for the event if anyone wants to "like"it so it can be forwarded onto friends and family on Facebook.

I have no idea of the costs but it may be worth the club looking into a sponsored Facebook add which targets Facebook members within the local postcode. Sounds like a long-shot I know but in the 21st century may prove more cost effective than leafleting.

Sitting in the WUSA club shop today I could see and hear all the fun going on. The youngsters on the bouncy castle and at the stocks certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves. I also thought the music provided by the under 14 team members was excellent. I am sure that Lauren and her team must have put in a hell of a lot of hard work to make todays event as good as it was. Well done to them all and I hope this can grow into an annual event.
