Can only beat what was there which frankly wasnt much yesterday. An improved performance which hopefully we can carry in to Tuesday which will be a better test of progress. However, time to celebrate a win, in the absence of being reasonably sure at this stage how many more there will be this season!

Having been critical of the players/management over the last couple of weeks it is only right and fair to praise them for Saturday's performance.

Some of the approach play and interchanging between the forward players was very good on Saturday. Our forward players have plenty of mobility and we used that to good effect. Yes Concord were poor but we took full advantage of that (both league leaders Maidenhead and cash strapped £bbsfl££t have only beaten them by the odd goal this season) Coombes will rightly get the plaudits for his hattrick but LDV and PJD both showed their class during the game and if we add Morgan in as well when his international clearance comes through then we have plenty of players to both supply and hopefully take some chances. Fuseini made a big difference on his debut just by keeping things very simple all the way through. I have been critical of Walker in recent games - he still doesn't look like a natural in front of goal but I can't fault his workrate and he had two good assists on Saturday and when he moved wide right he caused their left back no end of problems. I still am not convinced by our back four but we kept a clean sheet and that will hopefully give them some much needed confidence.

Tomorrow night will be a different kettle of fish against a bigger, stronger, more experienced team but far better to go there after a morale boosting win like that than a draw or defeat. I hope we get plenty of fans making the short trip to support the boys as this is the big one for all longstanding Welling fans.

Up the Wings!
