We had enough chances in the first 60 to be well out of sight, but only scored 2. Then we just lost our way, the ball stopped running for us and the opposition suddenly realised they could get something from the game - and they did!
10 games down and still not getting it together for 90 minutes.
I think the players could deliver if instilled with a bit of man management / belief / desire.
If MG stays as team manager it's going to be a long, long season and the Ryman league next season.
A few observations following a 4 hour journey home given plenty of time to think about todays effort.
Firstly a big congratulations to Mr Goldberg for the revamped bars and signs. As others have said previously very impressive. With regards to the performance a very promising partnership between Coombes and Morgan for an hour, despite the confusion of who was wearing 9 and 10, with a not particularly discreet shirt change spotted I'm sure by many present!
However almost from the start of the second half it appeared the message was "we've done it; all we've got to do is play out time". In truth we should have been 3 or 4 clear before HH pulled a goal back. I understand from comments on the forum that Lewington has been excellent this season so a shame a keeper error produced an equaliser but he should not be criticised. The entire defence looked shaky(although Brown was ok but hardly MoM). I do not understand why more effort was made to retain the services of Lokko and Chambers who in my view would be a solid central defensive unit at this level.
I fear we are in for a long winter; going forward there are many positives based on today but defensively we do not appear to have the pace and strength at this level particularly as the opposition were hardly the strongest we'll face this season.
Its absolutely disgraceful that the team can't last 90 minutes.......every game is the bloody same. That Hemel side are as **** as anything in the division - even their fans were telling me at half time how desperate they are. Worst away record in the league prior to today. A team with Coombes and Morgan up front should not be losing to crap like that......the defence, coaching and lack of fitness are letting them down
We'll need to be 5 up in every game after 60 minutes to stand a sodding chance in any game
Sort the ****ing defence out. Get some fullbacks who can move slightly faster than my grandad. ( He's been dead for 40 years) Oh! And sort the ****ing defence out. Bloody shambolic. What is happening on the training field? Christ I'm really really pissed off about today.
Spoke to Jonathan Henly after yesterday's match and he can't believe HH came away with 3 points. He said we dominated the first half and the first 10 minutes of the second, then fell apart. Totally agree with what he said. Yesterday was an embarrassment, whose idea was it to make those substitutions. We were doing okay up to that point.
Mr. Goldberg, if you read the forum then please tell me what you see in Mitchell Nelson? IMHO he is not fit to clean Barney Williams boots, a young player who was twice voted player of the year by players and fans who you gave away to Braintree for Sweet F**k All.
As for fitness WTF are all your back room staff doing? Also WTF is a Sports Scientist? and what does he do? It certainly isn't fitness as we die after 60 minutes, we all saw it at Dartford and then again yesterday.
You keep changing the forwards but the problem is defence, try changing that and maybe just maybe we start to see improvements.

From what I've seen of Nelson, I would agree. In the four games I've watched almost every goal has come from that side of the pitch - half the time it looks like we're not even playing with a right back. In the Stortford game he got roasted at least half a dozen times in the first half and we were lucky to go in ahead.......was no surprise to me that both goals came from there in the second half and cost us the game. Doesn't look up to it at this level.
Still not quite sure how we lost that game even now!
After a slow start we were comfortably in control and it looked like how many we would win by. I have to say that the arrival of Coombes in particular plus LDV and Fuseini has made us looking a better team going forward. Also I was quite encouraged by the debut of Morgan on Saturday as well. At the other end however.....one soft goal and panic stations ensues?! Our keeper, who has been one of the few positives thus far, has a brain fade and suddenly it is 2-2. Even then we had chances to win the game and yet I think all the home fans knew that we had another mistake in us and sure enough a lack of decision making (again) and we are losing?!
Let's put that result into perspective. Hemel have the worst goals against record in the division. Apart from a fortuitous draw in their game at £bbsfl££t they had lost their other three way games by a combined aggregate of 11-0. I would say that, defensively, they were on a par with Concord the week before if not actually worse. In fact the only defence I have seen as poor as them this season was the one at the other end of the pitch on Saturday.
Thanks to Jordan's family and friends for sponsoring the game anyway.
EDIT: I have just listened/watched the post match interview. Aside form the less than subtle digs at the head coach and the fitness coach it came across as MG found Saturday strangely amusing?! I am sure that is not the case but he seems remarkably laid back about the whole situation. And as for the repeated comment that "the starting XI was excellent" then I think he must have been watching a different game to the rest of us...

The whole thing is not quite as important to MG as it is to the fans. Two very different agendas.
I know it looks like relegation form but to stay up by the skin of our teeth would suit him just fine.
Hes is a businessman and nothing more.
He will generate income and thats his job done. He would never make a living out of management which is plain for all to see but he is happy to keep the ship afloat. RISKY
The issue I have now is that the youth will never get a chance because he will now continue to bring in " experienced " players. Not a great long term team plan but a suitable financial plan for his pockets.
There is loyalty to the club by the fans as shown by the bail out but that also caused us to question whether the name on the tin or what makes the fabric of the club is what you support. From that relatively recent debate it would be rather complacent to assume the majority are of the name on the tin persuasion and would be there under any circumstance.
Although Boreham Wood have made a relative success of their off field activities such that I believe the majority of their funds come from them we wont be in that position for a while so boots through the turnstile will still be significant. If there is one thing I can tell you from living in this town, if it has a National League club it gets National League size crowds, if it is in Northern Prem Division One South, it gets their size crowds. Whilst our base support seems quite resilient I'd not want to be destruction testing it to find if we bucked the trend!
