And therein lies the problem. If you play crap and lose against the crap teams and lose you need the better performances against the good sides to yield points. It is whether we improve fast enough for that to happen otherwise you are waiting till you play the crap teams again and hoping you don't repeat.

A bloody good performance other than a defensive lapse or 2.

I don't think Nelson should have let the cross come on for the first, and Jordan Brown kicked the ball across his own area for the 2nd. We hit the post twice and looked dangerous going forward but if we can't stop the silly mistakes at the back then we are in trouble.

Can't complain too much as we did play very well, there are the signs of a good side there.

One thing I didn't like was Mitchell Nelson and Dean Morgan squaring up to eachother at the end and having to be pulled apart by team mates. We want players to battle and play with passion, but it shouldn't get to that level, especially in front of the fans at home.

Couldn't get to Truro so went to see our local rivals plany top of the league. Very unlucky welling you deserved at least a draw and possibly more. For long periods of the game you was by far the better side.

Disagree we played well today. Thought we played really well for about 65 minutes but a game last 90. We went to **** again after taking the lead, and lacked the character to grind out a result.

For the third time in four games, and fifth time this season we took the lead and contrived to lose. Debatable to why this is. But perhaps it's because as a team they are spineless with a lack of bottle and mental strength. They just can't cope when they take the lead. And even more so when the inevitable equaliser is given away.

We didn't lose today because we are unlucky. We lost because we have sub standard players in a couple of postitions that are a constant liability. If we didn't have these bad players making individual mistakes most weeks we wouldn't be "unlucky" as often.

So gutted we lost today. Such a good performance for most of the game, could have won 3-0. Sadly the injury to Hayles was game changing, Nelson came on who is simply not good enough and defence crumbled. For a team top of the league, they were so average.

Agree with that. Hayles played really well and the injury told.

Certainly unlucky not to at leat get a draw, but a very positive performance, especially for the first 50 or 60, but perhaps it was fitness levels that let us down? But a lot to take encouragement from. Well done to all.

I don't see what's unlucky about putting bad players on the pitch, that are constant liabilities and feeling hard done by when they inevitably cost you the game.

Maybe I am just harsh

Lots to like about today's performance. But as with one or two other games this season we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. I should imagine Maidenhead are wondering how they came away with all three points. Very frustrating. 6 home defeats from 7 games now. Not good.

Thought we played best football of our season to date.Great forward interchanges between Ali,Danny,Dan, Dean and Adam. If we play like that week in week out we will move up the table swiftly.Looked dangerous up front and solid at the back until Ricky went off. They did look average for top of table team and didn't deserve a win. Can't be too disappointed tho'.......was my fantasy wings scoreline....woop woop !!

I thought Matt Fish looked good at right back. I'm not sure why we have so many wingers but limited cover in central defence/defensive midfield.

Played them off the park. Should have had at least 2 pens. Hit post twice and their keeper was man of the match.

If Rickie stayed on we win comfortably. Another dire ref who bottled decisions. Red card and pens. I bet hes getting a christmas card from the classless Devonshire.

Well played boys. Take that type of football into the FA Cup on Saturday and Whitehawk will be in all sorts of trouble.

Totally agree, Fish was excellent on his debut. Good positional play, sinple but effective passing and was always making himself available down the right side when attacking. Looked very accomplished. Still can't get over today's loss!

Agreed.

Results aside, who would agree this is an entertaining/good team ?

Loved some of the interplay today. Enjoyed the goal (well taken and sublimely set up).

Watching Welling is like shaking a ketchup bottle..... shake it, nothing, shake it, nothing......so let's hope the deluge comes next week!!!!!!

entertaining in bags today, we played such good football and with a bit of luck it would have been all over before they got their goals. I loved the interchange of play and the passion and desire was clearly there. Maidenhead did not look like top of table material and they won ugly through our errors. After we got 1 it looked like our second would quickly follow-Maidenhead were clearly not in the game. Devonshire must be wondering how the hell they won the game. I agree with I think what Polo said, we have players in key positions(defence) who are out of their depth. Our forward play is enviable of any team is this league and if you think how dire it was last season then MG has certainly got that right. What concerns me is that we are going to have to score at least 3 to win a league game because the opposition quickly find the open back door. The lads should not be dispirited though because they and we know they were the better team and a couple of ****-ups lost it. Looking forward to the next game I am sure it will all come right. Maidenhead are obviously up there for the reason they beat us-the ability to score and win games from a loosing position(all top of table teams seam to be be able to do it)and particularly when they were not in the game and on the rack for large portions of it.

Hello All, normally pop down down two or three times a year and browse on here from time to time so here's my take on yesterday's game . Thought you played some really good football at times and deserved at least a draw with a decent shout for a penalty in the last minute, was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed my day. Thought I'd write down some notes from a floating supporter of my local team.
⢠No 10 Coombes looks a decent player who you'll do well to keep on yesterdays showing, his strike partner was a willing runner but no real threat.
⢠the defence and keeper apart from the left back looked really solid until the centre half went off when you could see the unit fall apart, would have liked to have seen more protection from the two in the middle.
⢠the wide left player who scored the goal has quick feet and a lot of skill but at times looked like he didn't want to do the basic things
â¢The one thing I did notice about the home support was the eagerness to get on the players backs as soon as a mistake was made, I'm sure they'd relax more knowing you were behind them at all times- although I do understand the position you're in you may have been through some tough times in the recent past
Overall though I enjoyed it and will be back again soon, keep playing like that and you'll soon shoot up the league, good luck for the rest of the season

This team is better than the team we had when we played most of the teams around us and lost. Has it improved enough to pick up points against the obviously better teams we haven't played yet, not so sure. This current team may be in a false position but they are going to have to prove it the hard way.

I did n't like Morgan at left wing and I don't like Hatton at right wing. Not their natural position. With a bit more luck we'd have won. Fish played well at right back.

This Saturday against Whitehawk is the bigger game. I would like at some point though in changing the formation to a 5-3-2 with Morgan behind Walker and Coombes with Archie Johnson on the left.

We're already cut off- from the play offs. There will be many more opportunities to pick up 3 points and get away from danger. The chance of inclusion in a 1st round FA Cup draw which includes Charlton, Millwall, Sheffield Utd, Coventry and Gillingham is mouth watering. Let's hope we have a bit more luck against Whitehawk.

Recent performances make me think we've a good chance of picking up the points we need to avoid the drop. But getting through to the 1st round and a big match would be great. So let's go all out to win the next two matches to set us up for the run in to Christmas.

Hmm, there is obviously a cliff about 5,591,040 miles away and last year's comments have just bounced back off it or we haven't learned much. You might like to think so but until we start demonstrating that you are still hoping no one else around us makes a similar improvement with a more productive outcome.

Wasn't there on Saturday so can't have my usual moan!

Disappointed to hear that we lost after appearing to dominate for an hour but we can't expect to have to score 2 or 3 week in week out to have a chance of a draw/win. When the opposition score we don't seem to be able to cope with it and are falling away far too easily. Individual errors seem to beset us more than anyone else in this league and I hope it wasn't a lack of fitness (again) which contributed to the concession of two late goals....??

I remember MG talking about imminent changes to his back room team after the Poole game but here we are two weeks later and there is no news on that front...??

Isn't that what Loui said at Guiseley last season?

Maybe that's what Stafford was suggesting but he confused me with things bouncing on cliffs five and a half million miles away!!

Speed of sound approx. 640mph x number of days. Except the flaw in the argument is it should have been divided by 2 as it would obviously need to get back again!!

True but the difference is that when we got any points last season we seemed fortunate (iespecially the 3 wins in a row). This season it has looked as if we have been a little unfortunate to lose games, which of course can not be helped- although I think fitness has been an issue which of course can.
