London senior cup game tonight 7:45 at VCD, we will be (according to MG) be fielding a close to 1st team. If we do it could/should be a cricket score.

Agreed, putting in 6 or 7 is great, but we seem incapable of keeping a clean sheet, even against not so good opposition. As often repeated on here something has to be done about our defensive set up, be it players or tactics.

but a good training session at Erith, just share concern that all are fully fit for Saturday!

The management (and players?) clearly decided that this "training session" would be of more use to them than two sessions this week. Some will agree, some won't. I don't think they over exerted themselves last night but questions will clearly be asked if we run out of steam (again) towards the end of what is a huge game on Saturday.

As for last night we could have had double figures although their keeper was probably at fault for a couple of our goals. Walker went off with an injury first half which I hope was not too serious. It was difficult to see what attacking formation we played at times with LDV playing as a false nine and Morgan seemingly playing where he liked?? Coombes was clearly off form only bagging four. I was impressed by LDV in particular - left out/dropped last weekend, it wasn't happening for him in the first half last night and the final ball was going astray. He kept plugging away and could/should have had more than the two goals he did get. He was still chasing and closing the ball down in in injury time with the score at 7-2 so fair play to him for his effort and attitude last night.

It was a makeshift back four last night but those defensive issues still haven't gone away. It comes to something when our best "defender" is a central midfielder playing out of position.

I thought Archie Johnson was solid at left back as he was at Whyteleafe and Chatham.

Waldren best defender last night perhaps but Francis and Hayles played very well v Maidenhead. The loss of Hayles to injury during that game was a critical factor in the eventual defeat.

Retirement is allowing me to see more and more games and I thought last nights display was very professional. great to see the club respecting the competitions by fielding a strong lineup. Should really have been a clean sheet, really sloppy from Nelson for the first goal especially.

I noticed that MG wasn't in the dugout last night so well done to Harry and the unidentified man who was also in the dugout, he seemed pretty vocal. I really enjoyed his energy. Does anyone know yet who he is? It was mentioned that he has managed in the conference south before, guiding teams away from the drop zone but that could just be hearsay...

It certainly seems that way! He looks like he is in his mid 30s so probably not Jeff King! The chap I was chatting to said he believed he had managed in the conf south as recently as last season?

Well the couple of times I have seen him he has been wearing Welling training attire....I'm not sure that constitutes being a "snappy dresser"?! He is certainly tall, probably 6 foot or so..... I don't think I shall be perusing a career as a detective in my retirement!

Are you referring to Assistant Manager Harry Wheeler?

No no. He was in the dugout WITH Harry at last nights game and the Chatham game and believe he was present in some capacity at the Swindon game. They seemed to work well together. Hey ho, perhaps all will be revealed in the coming weeks?

No he is instantly recognisable and dresses like a miniature catalogue model so it wasn't him.
