More of a worry is that the centre halves we have are not particularly good...

Not the most eventful of games so far. Hungerford with the better chances. Lewington has picked up an injury so Waldren is taking the goal kicks.

Cracking strike to be fair. But we should have cleared the ball on at least 2 occasions.

Our Twitter account suggests we conceded a baby horse. Plenty of donkeys in the vicinity.

But hey, at least you can get your car washed at PVR.

Very little in front of goal with just a free kick straight at the keeper and a half hit shot at the end.

We've got plenty of injuries so a bit patched up and plenty of movement on the playing side which i'm sure will be announced soon but tonight was pretty awful.

I'm hoping Daisy will be given control of team selection, budgets, and transfers very shortly as something needs to change and now. Others have said we are too good to go down....you are never too good to go down, and on tonights show, that's where we are going. Well and truly in the brown stuff.

Well, that's that. Hopeful comments by Daisy about on-loan central defenders, nothing materialised. Is it now time for MG to take more of a back seat and concentrate on his undoubted talent of revenue raising? He is a smashing bloke, but his dream of managing (in which he has had great success elsewhere) as well as owning a club has turned into a nightmare. Whether Daisy can turn it round, who knows?

There is always a silver lining ---- the season ticket will be cheaper next year, the queue for tea / burger will be shorter, and we'll soon be playing real local away matches against E&B !!

Chris Lewington injured but plays 90 mins.
Paul AGU named on bench he's a GK but not used.
Mr Goldberg if you don't have confidence in AGU what's the point him being at WUFC ?.
Release him with others named in this thread and hopefully few more too.
Squad to big not good enough.
Mr Goldberg stand down as manager please.
Give JD full control you know it's what majority of fans want no more delays or excuses.
JD for manager simple as that.

Even with the injury Lewington played perfectly well.

The only problem with Day becoming manager is that we'll need to pay out for another coach. But I agree with you.

Despite MGs good work off the pitch most of his signings have been turkeys.

Fair play also to Dean Lea**** who I'm told played with a broken toe last night.

We are in a relegation scrap now, no doubt about it, and we need scrappers- not crappers.

Lewington has done very well for wufc.
He was carrying injury which was stopping him taking goal kicks.
Let's hope he's fit for Saturday WUFC will need him

MG said a few weeks ago in an interview that he wanted to bring in a manager. Now he has one I don't understand why he isn't stepping aside.

MG is doing a fantastic job off the pitch, the events he has been putting on are bringing in good income and it would be great for him to focus solely on the bigger project of the ground development. But Jamie Day needs to be given full control and hopefully he can move a few more players out, and bring his own in. If JD was to walk because MG won't hand over control there will be a big wave of criticism from the fans.

First and foremost it was a bit of a shock to the system to see the starting XI when I arrived at Hungerford last night. Having spoken to the manager/owner he explained his reasoning and I accepted that. He was also hopeful that some of the longer term walking wounded would be back at the weekend to bolster the squad although I have heard that one before...

As for the game itself we were always going to be up against it with such a scratch team and so it proved. We were down to the bare bones and some of those who started were far from fully fit and I commend them in particular for their efforts. I think the management team were probably hoping for a 0-0 which, with our defensive record, was always going to be a long shot. I thought the makeshift centre half pairing of Waldren and Lea**** coped well with the aerial bombardment and Fish, Lewington and young Jackson were others that came out of the game with some credit. We were finally beaten by a more than decent strike and, although the build up to it it could have been stopped more than once, had we stolen a point it probably would have been on the next edition of Crimewatch!

This is a massive point in our season now. I can accept losing that game last night (or any game) if I am seeing a fully committed team performance from everybody. Hungerford were a very limited side but they had a game plan, they knew their roles, they were more committed and hungrier than our lads throughout and, most of all, they played as a team. With a few honourable exceptions we did none of those things.

We currently have two people at the helm who have won this division in recent history. They know what it takes and, if they can gel together and define their roles at WUFC more clearly, then hopefully things will improve. We also need all the playing staff singing from the same hymn sheet (and not spouting off on social media....) and we need to rediscover the team ethos and spirit which has so epitomised WUFC over the years at least until the last couple of seasons. If that means yet more personnel changes in the short term then so be it. I think we all realise this is a real relegation fight now but a fight we are more than capable of winning as dropping another level so quickly would be a disaster all round for our club.

Up the Wings!

What on earth is going on? On one hand I hear that we're spending nigh on £8k per week on wages (perhaps that has even changed upwards now).....on the other I hear that we'd be happy to get a goalless draw with a patched up side at a team who pull crowds of 200 odd.

Full respect for Goldberg off the field, but quite frankly someone has got to stop this rot on it because another month of results like this and that will be that

Can't face the prospect of dropping down another division

Worrying on two counts: performances on the pitch and the mention of "financial constraints" in one report (Kent sports news) as a reason for three players being released.  Some information and reassurance needed methinks.

On the other hand, it could be that MG has a budget that he needs, and wants,

to stick to, and the reassurance is that he is not prepared to exceed it.

I'm more concerned that we're getting rid of players for financial reasons rather than because they aren't up to it. That suggests to me that not only was recruitment pi $$ poor but that we're significantly overpaying that recruitment - more poor management. We won this league on roughly half the figure quoted above.

I have listened to the interview and I think he is very downbeat.

He seemed very clear prior to the game on the reasons for the changes and what the ideas were going forward but it remains to be seen if those ideas are any good...!
