Likely soon to be named as leading a coaching team at Gillingham, and Daisy is also being mentioned by Kent Online as a possible member of that team.

Certainly won't begrudge Pennock (and Daisy for that matter) the chance to manage/coach at League One level.

Finances will dictate some of it I expect but the crux of it for me is if Daisy wants to be a number two (or even three) or whether he wants to stay as a manager.

Good luck to Ade, and I can understand Jamie wanting to coach in the first division. However, the appointments would only be until the end of the season and, as Wingnut stresses, Jamie would be down the pecking order. Who knows, perhaps MG could offer Daisy a contract for the rest of this year and for next season too? Also, I wonder whether Jamie could combine coaching at the Gills as well as managing at the Wings?

I would be offering Daisy some of the money that Ade is getting, re-naming a stand after him, giving him a 3 year contract, control of an academy if/when it is in the running, the freedom of Welling and virtually anything he wants.

What Daisy has done at this club in his 2 spells here is remarkable, and we simply cannot afford for him to leave.

But if he does go it's a huge risk, Daisy can re-build his reputation at Welling after Ebbsfleet and Braintree. If it doesn't work out at Gillingham, then where does he go?

Daisy has said in the press over the last few weeks that he has been a number two and wants to be a manager, so hopefully that will mean he will stay at Welling.

We ev given day a way back in with less then successful stints at ebbsfleet and Braintree. Is it selfish to think he owes us a little bit of loyalty? Do we bend over for him every time he hasn't got a better offer? He's only been back a little while.

JD & the coaching team have have certainly worked wonders, the performance  and especially that 5th goal on Sunday will always be remembered. Unfortunately true loyalty in football is rare so if a better offer comes along it's going to be hard to resist be it JD or Coombes, but in JD's case I'd hope he'd take a longer term view of his career and realise that staying at PVR, as manager, and getting the wings back into the National league, would make a far better entry on his c.v. than any success as a number 2 or 3 elsewhere.

If I remember correctly there was a lot of bad blood between Gills chairman Scally and Ade Pennock. Something to do with a disputed testimonial fee Ade thought he was due. Was that all settled then? Also there's a report in the Sun newspaper that Dennis Wise was 1st inline for the job. Overall it will be hugely disappointing if Daisy follows Ade to the Gills. Presuming he does get the job. We really don't need this right now!

If Ade does get the Gills job (good luck). If Jamie gets the number two spot (good luck). But I'll be gutted.

However, if Jamie does go and it doesn't work out then he'll need more than luck in the future as he'll be relying on chairmans/boards that like a gamble.

I know it's a big opportunity etc etc for JD but in my mind, it's not on. He's had a number of jobs since he left us that didn't last long, had a chance to do something good again and would have been given time to do it. P*ss poor in my book.

Well that's put a downer on things. Jamie Day has worked wonders at the club. Can understand that he would want the opportunity at such a higher but thought he would favour reviving his reputation and Welling's predicament over the next couple of years. Lets hope we dont read he has been let go in the coming months. Very sad day indeed

Me, Les and Steve are available Saturday and I will ask Howard to do the team talk and we will do it for free (okay a few beers then) seriously though you can not blame JD & AP for taken the job at the Gills good luck to them - presumably MG will take charge Saturday until he finds a replacement, the question is who's does he go for. What Jamie & Adi have proved in the shortness of time is that an experienced manager and coaches is required and can work with this squad.

Hopefully some of the senior players can reiterate the point that we know we can play well and have been playing well, and we need to carry on this form without Jamie and Adi, this team is good enough to do so.

I must admit I'm a bit bitter about this. In JDs interview released just last evening on WingsTV it was all about driving the team forward and how we were expected to challenge for the league next season. Empty words! A day later it's "UP YOURS" I'm off. There will be no good luck from me I'm afraid. I don't care what luck Gillingham will have in the future. We've been kicked in the gonads IMO.

I'm gutted Jamie's stay was so short this time but I suppose the Gillingham job came up quickly. Bit of a gamble being a joint coach in Leagus 1 and then trying to get back into management if it goes pear shaped. Leaving us for Ebbsfleet and now Gillingham surely means Jamie will never be back at the club again? What about Stacey as GK coach and others?

As they say, 'want loyalty - buy a dog'

Good Luck to Ade but I am very disappointed with Jamie. Thought he wanted to be a manager again. He can say goodbye to coming back to Welling again I think. The only loyalty at this club is the fans. Lets hope it doesn't effect the players too much but I can see Coombes possibly being offered a place at Gillingham

Of course disappointed but you cannot blame JD for taking this opportunity, just in the short time he has been back he has stabilised the club when to me it looked like we was in real trouble of going down again.

Would we welcome him back for a third time if things didn't work out at the gills...... yes of course we would, he has performed miracles for this club and he deserves credit for that.

1) Thanks for getting us 12 points and some money from the Trophy. Both could be crucial.

2) I doubt any of us if we were in football for a career would make a different decision than Day has done.

3) I know our stock was low when he rejoined but so was his. I was hoping our business acumen had improved, so I don't know if Goldberg was waiting to see if he still had the magic before getting him on contract and we have been caught with our trousers down. I would have thought we would have at least have tried to get him on contract when his role changed otherwise.

4) On the performance side he'd be welcomed back. Given that it is now evident he is part of Pennock's team and thus this doubles the risk of him moving from just being a manager, if he ever did come back, you'd have to factor that risk into any contract and make it plain those were the terms. If he couldn't agree to it, you are better off knowing early and there is always Erith and Belvedere if he is that attached to PVR.

5) All this is now in the past. I am hoping Day was not the only one Goldberg was looking at before Christmas and that any other options he had looked at might still be available. I take it as a positive he has not put himself back in charge.

6) This is sadly all rather indicative of where we are in the food chain, not helped by our comparative historical off field weakness. Hopefully the improvements off field will reduce our susceptibility to such events but when you see Klopp being touted for Barcelona, few clubs are safe from a bit of poaching and several of the ones that are have a revolving door anyway. Unless anyone knows the english equivalent of Guy Roux we might recruit.....

Doubt MG will have him back after this

being realistic you can't blame him - more money, 100 times bigger club with a chance of real progression in his career if things go well

as a fan - annoyed

As I said previously I can't begrudge Daisy the chance to coach at League One level. From a selfish point of view I hope it doesn't work out and then he might come back although I suppose my first wish is that MG makes a good solid appointment this time around and we don't need to worry about a managerial change for some time.

He has left us in a far better position than when he came in with essentially the same playing staff. Clearly a bit better organised, clearly a bit fitter and clearly more tactically aware too. it is now up to the players to carry on doing the same things in training and on matchdays and for them (and us) not to use this change as an excuse for taking our foot off the pedal and/or sub standard performances. There is no reason why this group of players can not continue to take us higher up the league. With the Trophy game coming up MG has a little bit of breathing space over the next week or two to consider who takes over next. We have a caretaker team in place but please please please can we have a proper manager in place and not a "management team" ever again....

Now it is our job to support the team so if you can get to Hemel and/or Bromley in the next couple of weeks then get along and support the team. Most of us were here long before Jamie Day came along and we will all be here long after he has gone (hopefully!)

Up the Wings!

I too am scratching my head why JD wasn't offered a season long contract.

Maybe he was but refused.

maybe the plan was to simply change Wellings fortunes and place both him and Ade in the shop window

I don't know what they are currently serving in the upstairs bar Bertie but, if you think he is League One standard, then I suggest you have a few more!
