I know I bang the drum about Nanetti, but he was everywhere today.
There are a few in our starting 11 who should take a leaf from his book.
Whenever he loses the ball he immediately wants it back.
That is all I ask for at this level of football

If he didn't try to beat his man 55 times before crossing it he wouldn't lose the ball as much in the first place.
Decent performance today albeit against a very unambitious East fruck team. You can see why they are good at draws. Very winnable games coming up before the D**ford match. We need to keep the momentum up and go into that game feeling confident.COYW

Leave off, if that was what you witnessed yesterday, then my friend, we were watching two completely different games.
i think he used the ball well yesterday and chose when to take a player on correctly.
at least he brings some form of excitement to the teams game.
I think Nanetti has been playing well but he is frustrating at times. On at least 2 occasions I can re-call yesterday he beat his man and then instead of crossing the ball tried to beat his man again and lost the ball. If he can work on when to pass the ball then he will be a much better player.

Wide men have done that all the time I've been watching football. They sometimes try to get a better angle but lose the ball and sometimes there is nobody in the middle and sometimes they try to buy time and lose the ball.
Hopefully, someone is going through the videos with him and giving him some advice on when to deliver because he is a good player to watch and is the best of the wide players we've seen this season at tracking back and helping the full back on his side.
Well done to the lads on the win and the second successive clean sheet at home in the league. I thought we played well enough in the first half and could/should have been at least one in front. East Thurrock did next to nothing going forward although I suppose we should credit our lads a little for that. The first half of the second half was very flat and I was fearing a smash and grab 0-1 but the tactical tweak of pushing Walker forward in a 4-4-2 seemed to have the desired effect. It allowed him to pull out wide right which he likes to do and with one goal and one assist he was arguably our man of the match and he certainly was in the second half. Makes it all the more baffling why we played him on the left wing for the vast majority of the first half...
Without wading in to the Nanetti debate, I have to say he frustrates the life out of me a lot of the time. I suppose if he were more consistent and had a better end product then he might be playing at a higher level. I certainly can't fault his work rate and there are plenty of players much bigger than him that don't compete half as hard as he does to win or retrieve the ball a lot of the time.
Five home wins on the bounce now in the league and pulling a little further away from the relegation positions. Still worry about the balance of the squad overall and hope that doesn't come back to bite us (as it did at St Albans) when we start playing Saturday/Tuesday after a clear week this week.
Just to add my 'two penneth' on the Nanetti issue, for me he is one player who you can guarantee will put in a shift. He puts total commitment into his game, yes, what he does doesn't always come off, but it doesn't put him off. He keeps going and going. I agree that he tries to beat one or two more players than he should do but he brings that little bit of excitement when he has the ball. He must be a total nightmare for any opposition to keep tabs on, as I don't think even he himself knows what he is going to do next. He is a pure team player, he defends when we're being pushed back and puts his body on the line to prevent the opposition from scoring. He may not be the biggest player in midfield but he puts his foot in and is all over any player that has the ball. Whilst up front, he is the one player who we want to have the ball at his feet inside the penalty area as we have a great chance of getting a penalty. Not only this, he chips in with making and scoring goals. I love it when I see his name on the team sheet.........................By the way, which one is Nanetti?
Trigger, I agree wholeheartedly. A fabulous player in terms of effort and skill. Over the years, we have had some exceptional wide players - and Christian is right up there with them and, yes, he is bloody frustrating but unorthodox. If he had a shot of the power of David Smith and a cross of the same calibre he would be playing a league or two higher. But he is still a young man, still learning and, let's not forget, he has been out for a long while with a very nasty injury. I just hope we keep hold of him for next season, he is a player who creates excitement and expectation when he is on the ball - and, yes, did I mention that he is bloody frustrating? But how wonderful that he can be in positions where he is frustrating, and how wonderful that sometimes his undoubted skills pay off!
