In the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter very much but tonight's game means the chance to give players a game, try out different formations, get the new players more familiar with each other etc...etc...
Agreed, the team needs a competitive match to start playing together better, and it's better to try to get it right in the "unimportant " match tonight than in the league game on Saturday.
Spirited performance against a good Bromley team..they were slicker and had more of the ball..but we battled hard and never looked particularly threatened...no mega saves from Chris required....and a great result .....now for an enjoyable if not that important game V Charlton (is there prize money in the Kent Senior Cup ?? hahahaha £20 squid at stake son )
Great goal from Harry...be interested in watching it back as I missed where he hit it from........
So no Walden and no Capitano.....and we still win against a team a Division above.....and they needed a win after their drubbing against Braintree.....
I'm keeping the faith.....
And looking forward to a game against the Dead Poole...:)))
PS-Ricky Hayles....a ledge in his own Welling shop window
I don't really understand your point. Yes the league form is a worry but we still have the chance of winning a trophy. Winning brings confidence so this can only be a good thing.
We are still in a competition so why not try to win it?
A bit of positivity goes a long way.

An encouraging effort last night against a pretty strong Bromley XI
The back four was solid for most of the game - hope there is no injury to Brown as he only played about two minutes of the second half?? Lea**** looked solid alongside Hayles. In the first half I thought Fuseini and Crawford held the upper hand in midfield although Crawford's passing went astray in the second half but I will forgive him after that winning goal! If we add Waldren into that mix why not play three central midfielders and see if we can gain control of that area of the pitch?? RMW looked a threat at times but by playing him wide right he was constantly cutting back into traffic and his decision making was all wrong at times. He did his best work in the second half against Wealdstone on the left wing so surely he should have been switched there at some point last night?? Richards was tidy enough but does at least offer decent cover at left back as he did in the second half. Still looking toothless up front and the new guy certainly didn't look any upgrade on what we already have. Hopefully we will get another body in up there before the weekend to replace Thassalitis and/or Slabber...??
Now the important thing for us is to match the effort and workrate from the Bromley and D******* games in the upcoming league fixtures and not a repeat of what we saw against Bishops Stortford and Whitehawk.
Nice to go home happy for a change. We are still in the competition with a fair chance of going all the way. Therefore, whilst I see the point in being sensible in team selection etc., I do not see why we should not be fully committed, both in the stands and on the pitch. To do any less lets everyone down. If anyone has not seen it, I recommend going onto Twitter to view Harry Crawford's goal which will live in the mind for a long time.
An area from last night which I find puzzling is what is happening to Joey Taylor, who was sitting in his civvies not far from me. He is not injured and he is a Welling player. We could only field four subs (two appeared to be youth team players) and unless Joey is cup tied (and from enquiries I don't think he is) why was he not playing or at least in the hutch? He seems to be the forgotten man at the moment.

In three words I can sum up everything i've learnt in life; it goes on.
Welling have a shockingly bad trophy cabinet ide rather we attempt to win trophies then be happy with mid table mediocrity season after season
Respect your opinion but from my perspective have to take issue with it and state my belief that two Championships and a smattering of County Cup success isn't a bad return for a Club of our age/size.
Of similar importance to my mind is the level of football we've played at which generally has been high demonstrated by all our years in the top division of Non-League football.
