Recruitment this season has been a disaster - both pre-season and in the last few weeks. Obviously Coombes was a big hole to fill (and Nanetti to a lesser extent) but we have effectively replaced them with a young "striker" from a mid table Southern Premier team and with a winger that is clearly surplus to requirements at a Ryman Premier team. And now, with a full back injured, we recruit a defender from the worst team in Conference South.
I am not interested in "we nearly got this bloke...." and " we though we had that player but it broker down at the last minute....." blah blah blah.........basically all we are getting is youngsters who the two yes men have come across in the past and, quite frankly, having seen them (allegedly) managing the team over the last two and a half months, I don't exactly trust their judgement.
I fully understand that we can't just throw money around and shop for players in Harrods but we should be able to do better than shopping in Poundland....
Not a complete disaster, we did get Coombes after all, but far too many have come and then gone. This suggests to me that the prospective players are not being properly watched before making an approach.
You know what...I am certsinly no football manager BUT i am sure I could recruit a better team purely by watching...listening to others....reading past write ups etc
