I guess it means that teams in the top half of the table will still be in with the chance of a playoff spot until nearer the end of the season, whilst the rest will be trying to avoid getting into the relegation zone. Playing the matches over one leg is good as well as each match can have that cup final atmosphere. Let's just pray we are up there being involved not down where we've been this year.
But of course they could take it a stage further and let the winner of a league cup competition get promoted!!
What it means is that mid table clubs will throw silly money at it (money they probably don't have) in the small hope of finishing 7th and then winning three away games to reach the "promised land"
Stupid idea - fifth is a low as it should go and if anyone between 2nd and 5th fails the grading then their opponents get a bye.
But why are there playoffs anyway? It's a league competition so why decide some of the rewards on a cup knock out basis? It can only be to maintain interest, increase the number of games and generate revenue.
