On the Twitter account - Lewington has left the club and Dillon Barnes has come in on loan from Colchester.  Not good news, apparently Coyle will confirm details this evening of what has happened.

I had heard rumours of this yesterday but had hoped it wasn't true.

Good luck to Chris in his future outside of football and Dillion in tonight's game.

Wait to hear the story when Jamie does an update later instead of idle speculation.

Funny enough, after the team photo my son and I had a chat with him.
I said my son enjoys goalkeeping and what would be the one piece of advice you could offer him.
His response was "when you lose interest in the game, stop playing".

Funny enough, he also went on to say, never allow a player to lob you.
Is that how Truro got their third?

Nice bloke, and wish him all the best.

Lewington was superb for us. Hopefully we will see him back one day, he is still a young man.

Good luck Chris and thanks.

Thanks to Chris for his efforts last season and will wait to hear the reasons behind it later. Whatever the reasons are the timing is not great...

Welcome to the new lad - let's hope his magic in a roundabout sort of way.

We are going to need a new team photo at this rate. In fact we probably already do need a new one.

We are terrible at that position....we always seem to have a few each season...one or two excepted

Whatever the reason it is what it is....seems very quick though so it was nothing planned

We move on

Only Sean Francis, Pierre Joseph-Dubois and Archie Johnson are left from last season now (although Christian Nanetti has returned) so nearly everyone who voted can claim the curse!!

Bloody sad news this. Really puzzled as to why he's gone. A very good all round keeper. Particularly good shot stopper. Good luck Chris. Thanks for keeping us in this division last season.

All the best to Chris!

Did Lee Butcher leave at the start of the season a few years ago?

Official statement he's retiring from football. Rumours say he had massive fallout with Parkinson.

Disappointing to see he's gone and I wish him well, the new magic roundabout guy did well last night, took a battering at times but still did his job.

Confirmed by Coyle that he left due to personal issues at home. All the best Chris, hope everything gets sorted.

Seems a tad strange that we didn't hold onto his registration after he left. As he was under contract i'm presuming we could have got a fee.

All he had to do was write his name on a bit of paper.

The more I think about this the more I believe we should complain to the FA and demand a fee. It can not be right that a contracted player can retire in order to move to another club without a fee. If Dover and Lewington get away with this then others could try it. It potentially makes contracts worthless.

Hopefully MG will use this to send a message out to other clubs that WUFC will not be pushed around.

Revised my opinion about this. Cannot blame Dover for signing him IF we did not retain his registration. If we did, then surely some sort of fee would have been triggered? Gutted about the whole situation. But we have Dillon who is a promising keeper, and we move on.

Erm....we just have been pushed around haven't we?!

If we don't hold his registration then I don't think anyone has (technically) done anything wrong here.

So have his issues now been resolved? If so he could just stuck with us and done that.
Clearly wasnt the travelling and having a young family because he's got even more to do now.

For once Chris is right, needs to be looked at because it's just set a precedent for every other player under contract.

If the background tittle tattle is to be believed, the "personal reasons" was a smokescreen for an inability to get along with the coaching staff. It came as no suprise to me that he ended up elsewhere and I leave it to others to look at the terms on which he left to see if any contractual issues have been broken. I cannot see that he was "poached", however, I would hazard a guess that Dover would not have signed him unless he was a free agent.

At least he didn't do the dirty with another club in the National South. All the same it's a tiny bit ****e of him. But why are we surprised. He's retired. His contract was torn up. He's made a come back to suit himself. Footballers have no moral code.

Who said that Welling didn't hold on to the registration and Dover have paid something for the release? Who said that he fell out with anyone? We're all guessing.

Thought Lewington had retired funny that. Perhaps he really did fall out with Parky! Lost a good goalkeeper there. Re. Parky not at all sure we have the old player back yet!!

These rumours are great.

Hes either fell out with the goalkeeping coach, fell out with Parky, fell out with Coyle, lined up dover before "retiring", changed his mind and asked to come back and was told no.

Nobody knows. It doesn't look great though if you retire due to personal issues officially, then sign for a club two weeks later.
