Had a few chances to score and a point would have been a fair result.
However, we don't help ourselves at times and in the last 5 minutes we gave 3 silly free kicks away around the box. The third resulted in a corner that Wellard scored.
Shame as we deserved a point and battled well but we don't help ourselves at times! Onwards and upwards!

A game we really should have taken a point from but walk away with nothing thanks to another ex Wing scoring against us (not for the first time this season!) In some ways we only have ourselves to blame as we invited pressure at the end of the game by conceding so many cheap free kicks. If you give the other team so many bullets, chances are that they will hit the target with one of them at some point...
Pretty even first half which Wealdstone probably shaded. We had one bundled off the line and also had another good chance through Ryan Hall who elected to try and dribble around half of Ruislip rather than putting his foot through the ball! Wealdstone had a couple of clear chances which they might have done better with. Second half, playing down the slope, we didn't really use the elements enough and we didn't expose their lumbering number five who was blowing out of his a**e very early in the second half. The two wide players didn't do nearly enough for me - Jebb is not a natural wide player but his delivery (which is normally so good) was poor last night. Hall wasn't at the races all night and Nanetti was an improvement when he came on. I can understand why Monakana didn't come on in such a tight game but with such a wide pitch could we have been a little braver and given him a chance out wide at some point in the second half. We could have even gone 4-5-1 and moved Jebb inside and pushed the wingers forward just to give us a different option..?? And last but not least I understand that the players must have been gutted at the end last night but so were the supporters who travelled across London on a week night and a little acknowledgement (from senior players) wouldn't have gone amiss last...??
I can't fault the effort and commitment from everyone last night but, in short, we need to be far more clinical at both ends of the pitch. Time after time last night we didn't clear our lines in defence and the ball went sideways or straight up in the air and then we compounded it by giving away so many silly free kicks which in the end led to a corner and the winning goal. Sometimes we simply need to put our foot through the ball and smash it up the field and we didn't do that anywhere near well enough last night.
On to East Thurrock at the weekend - we are still more than capable of playing a part in the end of season play offs and three points on Saturday would be a good start! We were appalling against them before Christmas but we are a better team now and we need to cut out simple errors and get back to winning ways.
