Wealdstone could be a play-off rival. Perhaps we needed to offload a player to fund the signing of Adam Coombes? I hope this frees money for an additional player before the deadline, although our crowds have not helped and neither have recent postponements.
I was well chuffed when we signed him on contract as I thought he could be one of the best wingers in this league. However he seems to have gone off the boil very quickly in an attacking sense and defending has never been his strong point. His performance (or lack of it) against Gloucester a few weeks back was shocking.
When we signed Coombes on a long term contract I assumed there may be the odd casualty and this appears to be one. Apparently the deadline for recruiting players was yesterday so we do look a little thin on the ground numbers wise should we get any injuries and/or suspensions...??
I imagine a little corner of Scotland in Welling won't be too upset about this development...?!

When he's at it he is unplayable and beat defenders and put in superb crosses. He has a load of assists. While you don't want to be losing attacking threats when you need to win games and get as high up the table to get home advantage in play offs, it's plain for all to see that since Jeffrey got his contract he has been a shadow of the player we saw.
It's a bit like Loick Pires where there is a great player in there and it's hard to work out why there were some WTF performances.
Jeffrey had zero defensive attributes and if he wasn't ripping up defenders then you can see why he couldn't get in the team.
With us liable to pay his wages next season and only hoping he started doing the business again then it's probably a good move for us although the end of the season may have been more prudent
It does seem a money saving move rather than tactical if it was tactical we would probably have brought in a replacement on deadlines day.

I think Jeffrey struggled on poor playing surfaces, given good pitches before winter deterioration he could tear fullbacks new ones. I wonder whether we have recalled the young winger we signed from VCD?
If yesterday was deadline day then we are mighty thin on the ground. A couple of injuries and a few more yellow or red cards could totally derail any thoughts of a play off place. Notwithstanding this, the finances over recent times cannot be too rosey, so I suppose it is a situation we will have to live with.
