Friend of mine who's a Charlton fan said that the pre-season game is played for a trophy, called the Crown Berger Trophy. I can't find any reference to this anywhere....any of our long serving supporters able to clarify?

As I understand we are contesting the Eric Brackstone Trophy as a mark of respect to Eric and to keep his memory alive

Would have been foolish to clash with England's World  Cup semi final.

is this game the 7th or the 14th? The twitter page says the 14th but the official site says the 7th

Apparently now the 14th but still with a 12:30 kick off.

Add that to the following week which was originally Margate away then Lewes away and currently Watford U23 at home?!

An absolute farce.

"The match will still kick-off at 12.30pm and the change in date comes at the request of Addicks caretaker boss Lee Bowyer. "

A lot of clubs still have players under contract until the 30th June so things can't be announced. I know that King has been meeting various people at the club ovet the last week so I wouldn be surprised to see a number of signings announced shortly.

FFS we need definitive confirmation in 48pt Franklin Bold on the official website and on here. All references in friendly dates to July 14 should be removed. I know we have no option in this fixture, but was the change back to 7th at Charlton's request?

Pitch preparation must be a worry in this weather - unless we get a few downpours I reckon the hoses/sprinklers will have to be on every day between now and the match on 7 July.

The message on the official site announcing that the Charlton fixture is now on the original date of 7 July has a full list of friendlies in which the match against Charlton is still listed as 14 July. No mention so far on Charlton official site. I hope this is genuine and not the work of a hacker.

Pitch looks really good as of last time I see it (Monday) young Barrie doing a great job.

Told by Barrie an hour ago that Charlton might once again be changing it back to the 14th. Seems an utter shambles there. Message is "Keep an eye on the official site."

Although we appreciate Charlton always sending a team to play us I hope they wont be asking for a fee considering the farce they have made about setting a date.
