Winning goal scored by our former Canadian international McCullum. Jebb also had a good game and was the deserved motm. In the end we deserved it but we need to start games at home with a higher tempo. And JP Kissick is showing me why the Southport fans did nt rate him. He doesnt look fit enough.
But its onwards and upwards and hopefully we avoid the Wokings and Billericays in the draw on Monday.

These games are always and always will be potential banana skins. We definitely wasnt at our best today but had the majority of possession but didnt make the most of it. LGhoul was fouled probably twenty times in that game but the ref seemed to be on a mission to let the game flow ( He failed) In the end both teams were committing stupid niggle fouls because they knew that they were going to get away with it. Both of our goals were good finishes as was theirs. Its hard to see why they are struggling in their league. Fair play to them they done themselves proud. In the hat on Monday and money in the bank thats what counts. COYW
Good to be in the next round. Difficult game with a difficult ref but we werent sharp early on and would get caught out against better teams. Ref was having a mare with the sort of game that could have exploded. Quality goals and McCallum MOTM for me. In the next round plus a few bob in the bank.
Injuries to key players really affected us today. The set-up had to be different but it did not seem to work out that well and the conditions did not help. Can't fault our players for effort and we had to dig in for a battle. I reckon we would have lost the match last season. As for the ref .....
As the owner said in the bar after the match "we're in the hat" which, ultimately, is all that matters.
We have had a great start to the season and it would be churlish to be too critical but boy it was poor on Saturday! Every team individually and collectively can have off days but it was the attitude from the start that was wrong for me. Chesham were bang up for it and were winning every first and second ball all over the pitch and, as the manager alluded to in his interview, their goal was the only thing that seemed to get up going. I thought we would get a rocket at half time but early stages of the second half were just the same?! Only when we put some tempo to the game and they got a little tired (surprising after all that time wasting...) did we really start to impose ourselves on the game.
I was surprised when I saw the stating XI that we didn't play 4-2-3-1 but we started 4-4-2 with JPK looking like a fish out of water wide on the left off midfield. For me we didn't play as a team with two many players taking too long on the ball and trying to do their own thing rather than moving the ball on much more quickly. We have one of the best set piece deliverers of a ball at this level so why we need to take short corners and quick free kicks around the box is beyond me?! Also we need to get more shots off as the conditions on Saturday were always going to be tough for keepers. Anyway the Jebb and Mccallum double act conjured up a couple of goals and we are in the next round with a few quid in the Bank but will have to play a lot better than that to progress any further.
One last thing - seven subs for the FA Cup and yet no sub keeper (even if it is a youth team lad)..?? I read the NLP yesterday and lost count of the number of reports where the keeper was injured or sent off and an outfield player had to go in goal. I understand why clubs at this level don't employ a second keeper and don't have one on the bench every week but surely this should be a must in the FA Cup and could be the difference between winning and losing.

I guess it depends on the ability of the outfield player who would go in goal. I noticed that Slough Town advertised for an emergency second goalkeeper through social media last week and were successful in their quest. Weston-super-Mare had to put a striker in goal who then took and scored a penalty before flapping a corner into his own net for an equaliser. Incredibly, he was still awarded man of the match.
