Clueless tactics all game from King. Why switch Nas as soon as he got Popan booked? Why lump everything at Mills against three Big centre backs .
Credit to Concord who defended properly and also to Midson who bought so many soft free kicks to break the play up. No need for Concord bench to dance up and down the touchline at the end shouting at our fans and punching the air... Hopefully we meet in play offs and dosh it back to them.
Even though Dartford are very poor we need to be a lot better than today to get a result. That was insipid and clueless on and off pitch.
Shocking ref today who had no authority. Concord time wasted from the 1st min and used every trick in the book. I wish refs would just book players who stand over the ball when a free kick is about to be taken. They did it every time and were never 10 yards. Only have ourselves to blame however, conceding such a poor goal so early on and no cutting edge in the final third. Goldberg was awful today, offered absolutely nothing all game. Agree with above comment that switching Nas was pointless. Let him attack their No 2 after the yellow and happy days. 4 mins added time was a joke, should have been about 8!

Awful today as good as we were against Dartford we were pretty clueless today. Defence were taken apart on numerous occasions and we were fortunate to only be one down at half time. Midfield were outfought and I know the majority like Mills and Goldberg, but for me the sooner Paterson is back running the front line will he better.
Ref I agree was poor, he didnt have control of the game and should have booked a number of opposition players for horrendous time wasting.
Got to go again, another win against Dartford will cheer us all up
4 mins injury time was crazy but another 10 wouldnt have helped. Never looked liked scoring. Reminded me of the old conference days from them with long balls and out muscling the opposition. Not pretty but worked.
I dont know what the **** Ive just watched. Are they sending refs to PVR on work experience. We were all over the place for the first 15 minutes and could of been 2 or 3 down. After that it was one way traffic. Concord were the worst time wasting ref playing team Ive ever seen at PVR in 15 Odd years. If the ref lets you get away with it go for it. Some of their antic at our free kicks were blatant cheating. Standing 3 yards off free kicks and then encroaching nearer and nearer was taking the piss out of the ref. He was too weak to stop it and basically ignored it. Having said that they defended for their lives. You can see why they are on a very good run of late. 3 points down the drain really COYW.
Dunno where to start..a bad day all round with us getting to the final third then just hoping something might happen. Feel sorry fo Danny Mills as he must think he's up front on his own.! Goldberg has no presence whatsoever up front and is far to easy to knock off the ball. The Ref was a joke and I think lost the game after 20 mins as he was far to easily influenced by Concorde and looked like there was no way he was sending anyone off. Think we deserved at least a draw and we'll have to be far better on Tuesday at Dartford to get anything
Lets not get carried away with the time wasting/game management, although it was amongst the worst I have seen in 60 years of football involvement. Concord matched us all over the pitch and we were lucky to go in at the interval only one down. They had pace up front that worried us all day and an extremely solid defence. Teams seem to have worked Nas out now, put two on him and if he gets past kick him up in the air. We can only ask for the referees protection on this point. Whilst we huffed and puffed we missed somebody who could unlock their defence, not sure that taking Kissock off was the right move, but whatever we did we were not going to score all day. It is a great pity that Brendan Kieran seems to have lost his form and oh for Jack Jebb. Still it is only one match and I belive the next couple of weeks (3 of the 4 matches away) will define our season.

In three words I can sum up everything i've learnt in life; it goes on.
Will there be any manager interviews from both games?
I know it has been Xmas and everyone is busy...just a question
M
Kent Sports News published interviews with both managers after the Dartford match which included Steve King's explanation that Danny McNamara's return was only possible as a result of Welling supporters paying his wages.
WUSA have indeed helped support the loan signing of Danny McNamara, hopefully to help cement our position in the play off places and support Steve King.
Disappointed with the result (and performance) on Saturday in what wasn't a great game to watch.
To be fair Concord were far the better side in the first quarter of the game, sharper and quick to every second ball. Their number 5 was probably man of the match and the number 11 up front (on loan from Gills I think?) was a handful throughout. They thoroughly deserved the lead and could have been more than one up in truth during those early exchanges. We just seemed lethargic all over the pitch in contrast to what we produced on Boxing Day. I was a little disappointed with the lack of imagination as well and we didn't really do anything to change the formation or the approach until we took a full back off at the end. Before that winger off and winger on, central midfielder off and central midfielder on and we persisted with 4-4-2 when I would have like to have seen maybe 4-3-3 or 4-3-2-1 tried even if just for 10 minutes or so??
We did start to get a foothold in the game towards the end of the first half and the second half was almost anti football from them throughout. I have seen some time wasting tactics over the years (and even felt we should employ them a few more times ourselves) but that second half on Saturday really took the biscuit but, sadly, we had an official that just didn't show any authority and let them ruin what might have been a decent game of football. Coming away from the game I had two initial thoughts.
1. I hope there was an assessor there to report back on that referee. As I understand it you are supposed to add on 30 seconds for a substitution to take place so I make that two and a half minutes. I think I counted 4 separate times in the second half (although it might have been more) when Concord players were stricken on the ground and the physio entered the field of play with her magic sponge. So that means that the referee added 90 seconds for those stoppages plus the constant timewasting at free kicks as well and the sly kicking of the ball away as well. We weren't playing very well and we might not have profited from more extra time but that is hardly the point. In fact the Concord Number 12 would probably have got a higher mark for his refereeing performance than the official himself....
2. I am not sure a win against a rival play off team halfway through the season should prompt such wild celebrations. Of course you celebrate an important win but not quite to that extreme. There was a fair bit of goading going on and off the pitch as well as the Mourinhoesque run down the touchline from one of their staff which was just a tad OTT. People don't forget that sort of thing and I certainly wont. In the words of Kevin Keegan I would "love it" if we played them again in a play off match (home or away) and, if we get a referee with a little bit of authority, then an actual football match could well break out and I would be quietly confident of turning them over.,
Anyway we have had a good run at PVR and now need to start another one. Before that a small matter of the return match at Pikeys Park and I hope we can turn in a performance nearer to last Wednesday than Saturday!

Happy New Year all and Up the Wings!
2 hilarious points here.
1. A welling person referring to Dartford as pikies ? Hilarious.
2. Are you having a pop at our ground? I mean really?
Too easy.
All them fans that pleaded with the fans who turned up for boxing day, you're missing a very important point . They were either Dartford fans or fans who only came to watch Dartford .
I can't say I like Princes Park either. It may well be nice and new with facilities but not my cup of tea for a football ground.
mile away from the station
rip off price for the fastrack buses
seats in long rows instead of a traditional stand
the new bar behind one terrace is nothing like a bar, just a plain room
the wooden statue - not sure why something wasn't made of it more Dartford/football related (boardroom table, club badge in the main bar etc.) but a statue on the terracing just doesn't belong
doesn't feel like there's a natural home end even though there is when segregated
The views of the pitch are decent and the main bar/rooms/training areas all good - there's just no character to it. Not saying PVR is better of course but i like a football ground to be just that.
The Concord interview was also up on Twitter but it's now disappeared-suspect Kingy's accurate but less than complimentary comments about the ref is the reason.......and he confirmed in that interview that there was an assessor there Saturday....move on to Dartford.....COYW !!

Back to 500 a week for you.
Keep taking the tablets mate.
A lot of us refer to your ground as Pikeys Park - get over it.
I said at the time that D******* would claim they had three quarters of the attendance and you have proved me right so thanks for that.
I remember you getting all irate on here before the play offs started last season and then going rather quiet when you missed out...??
I have took stick off D******* fans for years but I will get over it and have waited five years for our little win on Wednesday and maybe another one tomorrow but I won't cry about it if it doesn't happen.
If you can't take the banter then I suggest you keep to your own forum.
Ourselves and king can complain about the ref until blue in the face, yes he was shocking but we were worse, against dirtford we played our game and against concord we were bullied into playing theirs.
Nas gets a lot of plaudits but he was terrible, how many times when he got the ball were the shouts of pass it? Between him goldberg and Mccullum far too many, I felt sorry for our full backs who worked their bo##ocks off the whole game overlapping and in good positions to receive and cross the ball but never got it only for the possession to be wasted and a groan from the crowd. It's not the first game this has happened either and it's getting worse every game!
It was ridiculous on Saturday, amount of times they are actually facing a teammate and still don't pass the ball! With have a 6'2 striker who doesn't get the ball put in the air to him in the box! Only time ball gets crossed is between the 18 yard and 6 yard line and it's either low or hit to far.
Saturday was a disgrace from the ref, from our fans behind the goal who i call fans some regular but some never seen before and our performance.
People get so worked up that instead of supporting the team it's just constant opposition or ref abuse and not actually supporting our players.. In not a angel but it's the odd comment hear and there, for some it's constant stream of swearing and just abuse to the opposition and not one word of encouragement and it's actually quite embarrassing.

Checked the online portal, there was no assessor allocated to the game.
There was a league assessor there though. I don't know the difference between a ref and league assessor but I would imagine there was quite a lot noted down.
League assessor would focus more on the whole day (clubs/hospitality/behaviour etc) as opposed to the referees performance, which in the unlikely event of the referee completely losing control, they would have no bearing on his future appointments etc.
