McLeod had next to no time to show.
Thought Kiernan was sh1t today. Too greedy and stuck to the touch line when he should have been going into space behind defenders.
Whole team were rotten today. Showed nothing up front and the midfield were poor, going back or sideways instead of going forward. Keep playing like this and well be lucky to finish in the top half of the table.

If Craig Barham-Barret was as good with his feet as he is mouthing off to the ref hed be world class

3/10

Couldn't disagree more regarding Brendan.
Think the bloke is a trier, lacked support at times, and was the only player who looked likely to create something.
OK, dont think he managed a shot on target, but looked more influential than both our centre forwards.
Let's be honest, we was up against the best forwards Welling have had in their team for the past couple of seasons (Coombes & Waldron). They had the measure of us, and when it came to the final third, we were lacking.
Think we just have to accept that when we lose a couple of key players (Jebb & N'Ghoul), we will struggle against full time opposition.
Must say, the whole place just seemed tacky. Modern, but tacky.
Surely if you are going to throw that sort of money at a ground, get the pitch level first?
This may sound sour, but it all seems like an individuals plaything, than an actual football club.
Onwards and upwards.

Considering the circumstances surrounding the team at the moment I think we all need to cut them some slack.

I literally do not know how some of our fans would cope with life they supported a team like Hungerford or East Thurrock ..billericay are a decent side who can beat anyone in the league and people talk like we are gonna get relegated just because we lost to them.

First half wasn't bad and I'd say both teams had a good quarter of it each where they looked threatning. Yes a couple of players had a bad day, in the second half but they are the same players who got us in the playiffs Josh hill in particular but then since he signed for us has been great until this game.

Mills might as well of played up top on his own though, I thought Bradley Goldberg had turned a corner a few weeks ago but he just is not good enough at all, cannot even do the basic of win a throw in or corner when a man's in front of him on the touchline and to weak when on the ball.

My main worry is being able retain Steve King. I know he signed 2 year contract but he sounds pretty frustrated with so many players and staff released.

I have to agree, SK has been the big plus this season and with a larger squad his ability to adjust tactics and players was critical, now with a small squad, not even filling the bench, his options to change things are very restricted. Looking forward he must wonder what next season will bring, without more finance Im sure he will be off, regardless of his contract.

Never mind next season, he sounds so down that he could be off this season! I know tough decisions have to be made about finances, but losing Steve King could be a disaster for us from which it will take a long while to recover. Treading water is never an attractive proposition to current and potential fans and players. It is better than not having a club to support, but if ambition is not expressed on the pitch or off of it in terms of facilities, it will have a knock-on effect in terms of attendances and sponsorship which is already suffering. It is a difficult one, and I don't envy MG and others involved in the process. Investment in marketing and commercial management has always been needed, but first we need a sustainable product with more than a hint of ambition rather than reaching a points total which spares us relegation.

Disappointed but not surprised that we lost on Saturday. As has been said elsewhere in this thread we shouldn't really be competing with the likes of Billericay even though nobody likes losing a game whoever the opposition are.

First half we had a decent amount of territory and possession but very little cutting edge. When we did get into good positions and/or dead ball situations the delivery was woeful. We got a header on one corner early on through Hill (and politely blocked it from going in?!) and, aside from one late free kick by Anau, the vast majority of set plays simply hit the first man and there is no excuse for doing that time and again. This is not the first time I have said this in recent games either. Nobody likes losing but the manner of the goals we conceded was poor as well. How a striker can get between three huge centre halves and get a free header is beyond me - good forward play, poor defending or perhaps a bit of both?? I don't feel there was a lack of effort but simply a lack of ideas and poor decision making (in the final third especially) which cost us.

We have now played all the top sides away from home but have all the bottom four to play away. In contrast we have the current top four all to play at PVR so we are still in the play off hunt but we won't stay there unless we start picking up a few away wins here and there. We shouldn't be using the budget cuts as an excuse either as the away form was in decline long before that came along. We have had to make cuts on and off the pitch and I accept that but we can still put out a team capable of competing with most at this level.

The manager has told us plenty of times how good his record is at this level and he is right. However a lot of those times he has been well supported financially which has helped him to compete near the top of the league - now he, his coach and his players have to knuckle down and show us that they still can...

Up the Wings!

Billericay had won one game in eight hadn't they. Our away form has been woeful for ages. Though we've scored quite a few goals this season our forward play seems weak now (partly due to lack of support from midfield perhaps). Mills, for all his endeavour, does not seem to be a prolific scorer and Kiernan flatters to deceive. Badly missing Nas in my opinion - gives the oppo something to think about.

I imagine the budget cuts have had a negative impact on morale but the poor away form pre-dates this. With a bare bones squad that we have now (and no away form) it's difficult to imagine making the play offs without a sharp upturn in form. Home form has been decent though the better oppo to come will be a test. They'll have to show an improvement on the Eastbourne performance.

This Club has always been known for its pluck and fight on the whole - there seems precious little of that around at the moment with a few notable exceptions.

Well said Bertie - an excellent post - nail on head and all that!
