Hopefully more in depth info to follow. Mark was very open and honest and answered all questions in lots of detail. I think a regular check in is really healthy to communication with supporters
Our very very good experienced manager has another year left on his contract. He has stated in the passed that he intends to honour that contract. So whats the problem? Did any other news or interesting developments come from the forum?
Really open and honest meeting last night with MG and Chris Roots. The budget cuts that happened earlier in the year were explained - the weekly budget went up straight away at the start of the season to meet SK needs, then really increased and when the cut happened it was still higher than at the start so it wasn't as drastic as I thought at the time. Shame MG got stick about this especially as his own money has been backing the club, not a small amount either.
Ground plans are with the council (no updates from them), meeting with the manager today, bar back in the clubs hands (with plenty of bookings), sponsorship revenue increased, new commercial manager, crowds up, lots of praise for various volunteers who have helped over the season (including photos, press, website, community, matchday staff) and lots more.
MG was very passionate, and at times a bit emotional, and is trying to move the club forward. Seems like Bexley Council don't move as fast as we would want and I think we need to be careful not to ruffle any feathers with them until we have to. Like I say a really good meeting and hope we have more of them.
Cheers for update GaryH. Really pleased to hear the evening went well, I could not make it sadly due to work. MG is certainly doing his best, there was never any doubt there. I had a chance to chat with him once and he came across really well. On a downside, what a surprise Bexley Council are being a pain. They give all their support to Charlton who are not even in Bexley borough which really pisses me off.
We all want to get promotion and we were one free kick or one bit of bad luck away from achieving it this season. However we still don't draw in enough people to PVR although they are trying to address that. We have to live within our means (or at least not live as far outside them as we were last season) and if that means sacrificing players and/or management then so be it.
Managers come and go. Players come and go. What I want is a club to support playing at the highest level it can afford and, if we can get this new ground idea up and running, then the medium/long term future looks very good.
If that means a bit of short term pain then so be it and we supporters should grin and bear it.

That is all correct however the off field foundations have been terrible, how can a club have so many commercial people that last a few weeks and bring in nothing and then have no commercial manager for a year or two?
Hopefully the recent Charity game will have helped pull in some new fans as the community day looked to be just youth team players.
if we are going to be so poor commercially then events like the community day if we can attract locals to come and the Charity game will help get us new fans and paper over the clubs inability to generate income and new fans.
If we do get a new Manager I just hope its not some ex (Bromley) player starting out as a cheap option as it would be unlikely many players would stay if King goes and the budget is reduced. Hopefully King stays and can perform more miracles and we get a cup run.
The development is a shambles and has been stagnant for three years. The council are not interested unless they can make money and dont lose out. I believe theyve said they will talk if we do certain things which weve done and they still leave us hanging. Its a shambles of a council that have never helped us at all and just taken rent from us.
There were a couple of questions raised (and answered) on the commercial front.
I don't believe the questioner was there in person but there may have been some notes being taken by WUSA so the responses may be aired in due course..??
I'll believe the bit about the new ground when the foundations have been put in. In the last 3 years all we've heard is "planning application" and seen photos of various development plans, all of which costs money and none have come to anything.
9 months ago it was a sight opposite bexley grammer, we was paying a ex bexley mp to get the plans through because "He knows what they want" and now it's something completely different on a site that we are not the only ones trying to bid for.
If King abdicates then I hope MG will look to appoint an experienced manager like Chris Kinner. Now would not be a good time for an inexperienced manager to come in and, potentially have to build a whole new squad. The South is now ultra competitive with so many clubs around the M25 region paying similar money (and more) to us and having experienced, proven managers who have already started doing their business.

It will be a bit of a farce if King does go as you are ripping every hes built down and gambling on someone else being anywhere near as good. Weve had two managers in Jamie Day and Steve King who have excellent records at this level and we should have bent over backwards to keep them both. Granted King may want a big budget and decide to walk. We cant be pushing out quality managers though.
Whether King stays or goes we need to sign decent strikers as although Danny Mills runs his nuts of hes never going to get you 20 and Bradley needs to play in a three or behind a front two where he can use his passing and also his movement to get in spaces. I think he would score twenty plus played like that as long as the other two front men were up to this level.
You would like to think Jebb will stay but if the Manager goes and half the players you would keep go then you couldnt blame him if he went.
Hopefully we will know about King soon and then he or our new manger for the next 11 months can start building his squad for next season.
If King does stay even with a sensible budget you know he will get a side challenging for the play offs, the big problem is if he does stay and wants players to stay he will have to let some go or offer them all less money and King may find that unworkable unless he fancies building a whole new squad.
Trying to work out if no news is good news about king. They were due to meet Thursday?
Perhaps King is taking some time to think it over. It would certainly enhance his reputation if he could have us challenging for promotion on a moderate budget. I hope he stays.

So four days after the meeting between MG and SK and still we know nothing. Even if SK asked for some time to sleep on it then that is a bloody long sleep...
All we know is that Kiernan has signed for Harrogate ( good luck to him) and nothing on any other players staying or going.
The wheels of communication continue to grind ever so slowly at PVR....

Assuming that Steve King is staying, there may well be players that he has already signed or have agreed to sign. If you remember last summer, the first five players actually signed in one batch then there was a long gap when the next lot were signed. In pre-season friendlies he didn't let people know the trialists names. He likes to keep his cards close to his chest.
As for an announcement, the manager is on a two year contract so there would only need to be one if he left the club.
Mark Goldberg did mention at the meeting with supporters that he was looking forward to going on holiday, maybe a reason, why it gone a bit quiet at the moment.
Him and Roots go (seperately) to Spain for a month at the seasons end every season, Club is usually at a standstill until the holiday is over but would be good to hear that Steve King is talking to players or has signed some or let others go,
