Different kits for players even if there all blue is still embarrassing
It's a glorified training session. Does it really matter?
Exactly Mark, if the brand new kits had arrived why use them for PSF. Use old stuff even if it is different then new kit would be saved ready for start of season. New kits damaged in pre season equates to club needing to spend much needed dosh on replacements.

Are you aware of the current state of the world right now?
You do realise that up until a week ago, the club has had no income for almost 6 months? What is the harm of using a kit that is a bit battered and then using the new one for the first competitive game!?
The things people moan about!

Wasnt moaning just bringing it up, I have noticed it and it hasnt stopped other clubs from actually having a kit.
Covid certainly hasn't helped but we all know thats not the only reason why the club is in bad shape. Wont be bringing it up on here as its been previously been mentioned already on this forum.

This is not true. The club HAS had income in the form of government grants, furlough payments, FA grants and so on - so let's not hide completely behind the "due to the pandemic".
And to have it right: if the company was run correctly there would be a prudent reserve....
-- Edited by Wings1963 on Thursday 10th of September 2020 02:06:49 AM
Furlough payments just stopped further redundancies.....the grants had strict rules on them as to what they can be used for (making things Covid secure etc)....some may have been loans too
It isnt a very happy time for a non league club (or any club outside of the EPL)
Different kits for players even if there all blue is still embarrassing
That's happened loads of times.
It's kinda the Welling way.
Play for the badge to earn your name on the back etc.
As a supporter of the club for some 30 years I have never known the club to start a friendly fixture wearing two different kit manufacturers. Old kits yes, different shorts and socks yes, jumbled up numbers, especially when there are substitutes yes. But never a different shirt.

Why on earth does it matter...?!?!
We have a million triallists at the moment. In light of the current situation do you want them all to change shirts when one player replaces another...?!
I am sure we will have a nice shiny red kit if/when this season ever gets underway.

The reason different kits was used was the amount of players that were in the squad plus some of the Adidas blue shirts are not in a good condition, same as the red. Thats why we haven't worn the home kit in pre season

As Wingnut says. Players are not allowed to ware a shirt already worn. Indeed when we return training bibs are not allowed to be swapped. There are many more things to worry about ahead of us rather than player A is in Adidas and Play B in Nike etc.
Agree with Danson that much of the money would be loans, but there would have been outright payments with no strings - in any event, the club's prudent reserve would have come into use.
As for the shirts - who cares, but as many have pointed out, it tells another story about what's going on, and not made any better by Covid.
There were two or three grants prior to this one of large sums when we had practically zero out goings
I did say a couple of years ago off the pitch the foundations are awful. The two who made the decisions have now alll but left us in the wake of their mess. With a few people trying to empty the sinking ship using a bucket with holes in it.
Just keep your fingers cross that the guy who wants to buy the club can get hold of it and then pray he can build strong foundations and get the club back on an even keel. It remains to be seen if he can but hes our only hope so we need to get behind him and give him a chance.
I understand he has a new tractor that might be able to sort out the pitch .
Thank Christ the manager has stuck around it must be a shambles for him to deal with . People slag off Tamplin but they had a go and he left them with a good ground.
Lets hope we can get out of this mess but please dont anyone think this is anything to do with covid, thats just a convenient excuse.
People including me at times many years ago criticised the Hobbins for the running of the club but the last few years and the state the club is in is a hell of a lot worse

Whilst I agree that MG has done plenty wrong and things have been far from perfect, is it as bad as the previous era. Plenty of highs under the Hobbins and great times and I still have the up most admiration of everything they did in bringing the club up to this level and even beyond. But I would have thought the winding up order would have been the lowest point and £98k HMRC bill is worse than the current regime?
That's why I can't get my head around the current anger at MG and the club at the moment. The same people were more than happy for the supporters to loan the club tens of thousands to pay a tax bill, but when only 10% of that sum has been raised towards boost the budget, a scheme that runs every year, people are having a moan!?
There are unfortunately a few people I had a lot of time for and even one I considered along with others a good friend, that have turned into very sad and bitter people for some very odd reasons.

You mention 98k- Its not alot of money. You can't owe that without making a bit in the process. The fans helped the club pay it, and received benefits in kind in return, and you have benefited directly via WUSA and the affords of representing that organisation.
So, let's have it right: when was the last time the WUSA accounts were published? I'm sure they were, but could be useful when trying to raise 10s of thousands.
Attacking a fellow fan for being open enough to voice their opinion is neither sad or bitter. It's brave and admirable, given all he has said has merit.
But for you to voice anything but admiration the way of the club founders, incredible highs, halcoyn days, is ridiculous. You have more respect for the regime that will confine the club to Bostik or below, while rubbishing the Hobbins - who also showed great respect to your family - shame on you Polo. You need to apologise.
" things have been far from perfect, is it as bad as the previous era."
Are you smoking crack cocaine or spending too long on Snapchat?
Do you actully think MG has the capacity to take a club from park football over the course of three generations, umpteen promotions, 1000s of matches, 10s of 1000s of players, fans, years, decades to live TV coverage, one below football league.... playing in 20,000 stadiums against top opposition.....and all that inbetween.
He has the ability to bankrupt the club, sell the assets and fly off to Marbella as soon as the going gets tough. Be careful what you wish for!
Seriously Polo, seriously.............what are you on.
I have not rubbished the Hobbins at all, in fact i mentioned how well they had done in bringing the club up to this level and beyond what MG has done. I have full admiration for them believe me.
However if you are purely comparing the regime's then which is worse. Is there a current winding up order that could shut the club down. 98k is a lot of money at any level and in terms of debt it isn't really a lot in the conference south. However owing that money to the tax man is a different situation! Thats not shaming the club or the previous regime, it's a fact. As I've said before i am far from happy with the last 4 or 5 years and things that have happened under the current regime.
The WUSA accounts are published to it's membership.

Just for the record I Have absolutely no problem with the Hobbins who as you rightly said have been very good to my family over the years
For the third time in this thread, they performed wonders in getting Welling United to the place they are now, and above.
However my point was trying to show up how crazy the anti MG era is on here when we have not reached the low point of having a serious issue such as a winding up order served on the club.

The current chairman hasn't had one decent commercial manager since he arrived, hes a recruitment specialist, it should have been a simple project to put a commercial manager in place. Can we all agree on that? hes had 4 years to sort it.
Commercial managers bring in money and create revenue streams, we are in this situation as the chairman says there is no money from him anymore. I know he slung loads of money in over the 4 years into the budget i'm not stupid, that was his choice and he signed the players.
The current and recently scarpered officials have left us in this position. its got naff all to do with Covid. Its the clubs (mis)management.
Of course under the previous owners regime it nearly went tits up and HMRC debt came knocking, we werent the only club in the **** as clubs were taking the piissssss with the HMRC.
If MG does go and the club survives, can you tell me how we are improved as a club since he took over? On or off the pitch.
We have no players, we've struggled in the league when he was managing, we've lost a hard working capable groundsman, general manager, operations manager replaced by someone who had no experience, We've also lost the fecking lease and security... a big part of how we are vulnerable. Maybe the chairman will sign the lease over to WUSA when he goes?
I'll say again i've been told the pitch is a disgrace and that conference south teams will report the club. The ground is in a right state from pictures i've seen. On and off the pitch its very shakey and who created this situation?
One further point is i'm not too sure the club is not ruined financially, i would think its possible when the skeletons come out of the closet they will be in numbers and demanding money.
I would say the club at the moment is on and off the pitch in a worse position than they were in under the previous owners.
Hopefully the takeover happens soon and people can look to the future whatever their opinions are of whos put us in this shiiit and uncertainty.
I still support the club, and it's a tragic sign of the times I and people like me, need to resort to this sort of approach to get the club, and the blinkered, to listen. Just because I say it I certainly aint the only person who thinks it, maybe some of this isn't even written by me but from a collective.
I used to bend the ear of MG. And I was a fool for doing so. But I learn't a lot quicker than others how things were going to go. The real fools are those that continue to do so, and how dare they mock me for seeing the error of my ways.
There are indeed plenty of things wrong at the club. Refunding a guy who has paid out of his own pocket in the short term is just the very start.
When MG is gone, I suspect you'll be happy to admit you are glad he has done so - so why won't you or anyone else in the circle demand so now? Instead of having to raise money to pay his bills.
I believe what is sad is that a supporter has to pay for ground improvements from his own pocket when the ground should be maintained by, a) the freeholder, the Council (I wonder why they may be reluctant to do so), b) The tenant (I wonder why he may be reluctant to do so), or c) the co-tenant in a lower division (I wonder why they may be reluctant to do so).
A supporter is paying for things he should not have to. This is unacceptable. Commendable, but unacceptable.
Where is the owner? Where are the plans? Where is the strategy? What are his intentions? What is his opinion? Good or bad, the silence is deafening, but then perhaps that is a good thing.
What is also sad is the clubs most loyal, supportive and attending fans burying their heads in the sand and putting up with it..
The Hobbins made a costly mistake, the club was saved by the fans for the love of the club and out of respect for what they had previously achieved and the club had great times after doing so.
Jody brown dragged us down and was hounded out of the club, as was a former player of the good times and the three amigos featuring another former player. Mg will take the club into administration without a eye being blinked.
Not reached that low point YET unless things change.
I'm writing these posts in the middle of hosting the quiz so apologies if they are brief and not making sense
In compring the Hobbins and MG its clearly obvious who had the greater reign and who took the club the furthest, that's without questionn it's the Hobbins all day long. However my point was simply that we are talking about money being wasted or club being in trouble, but only under one has it got to the worst point of a winding up order.
Any supporter who puts anytime or money into helping and supporting the club absolutely deserves credit, that's without question. There are numerous people that do. I host numerous events and pay for materials or things that are needed to do so, i pay for that because I want to support the club
You say that are supporter is paying for things he does not "have to" and you are right.... he doesn't have to! if he has because the club has asked him to etc then he needs to approach the club and ask for his money back.
I think the real reason why you now have this approach is because of what happened at Hungerford as up to that point you were on good times with MG and it seems very strange that your opinion suddenly changed straight after that day.

Yea well you think wrong then, coincidence maybe that around that time i was having my doubts and finding out bits and pieces I didn't like the sound of yes. And actually my problem lay with Mr Roots and his general managing of the club and little to do with Mg at the time.
But about that day as you seem so intent on mentioning it on here every time i say something, even though I view it as more of a personal matter. Yes i acted a bit of a **** and got absolutely hammered due to having a lot of **** going on at home and just wanting to let loose as it were, yes I caused a incident where unfortunate things happened, after I repeated the words of what your dad kevin and Brian said only a little bit louder.
It was my opinion of you that changed more that day than anyone else.
How many times had we been drinking before and I've certainly never acted like that, so instead of as you say we were mates and calling me a prick and us sorting it out there and then here's what you did when I would of just apologised.
I stepped onto the train home first amd sat with plenty of room for the whole group and instead you left me to sit alone for the journey. When getting off the train at seperate doors by which time I'd sobered up considerably i turned to wait for the group only to see you standing there with your arms out across the others as tonwait and let me walk off. Cos thats what mates do yea?
You're not a bad person dean, I dont dislike you or anything like that which is why everytime you make a comment i ignore it. Like the numerous times I've seen you in the street or passing through my work since you do the same to me. So how about in future we keep our opinions of each other to ourselves.

Polo, keep doing what you are doing, and trying to keep that positivity, but can we all just accept MG came in, had his "fun", ran the club down and is leaving with the lease?
I wonder who these people are who are owed money and how they will try to get it back....?
If it's coincidence then i apologise. But a lot of your account is simply not true without getting into the details etc.
We were all hoping you would be there the next Saturday, we would have had a beer and that be the end of it but unfortunately you decided to stay away.
We are raising money for the boost the budget, the money is being ring fenced and goes to Brad. Your point of raising money to pay his bills is wrong, as it's not paying rent or electric, water etc. MG at several of the meet the manager evenings has said how the club generates an income that is low and that he tops up the playing budget. With the current situation of the world, the budget is going to be lower and the aim is to support the manager to give him a fighting chance of being competitive. We've always done a boost the budget for the last ten years or so, so I'm not sure why this year people are trying to say it's paying the bills or having a rant when it's a bigger appeal than the scheme we run every year.
Referring to Tom's point, yes income is very low for the football club and just by looking at some of the players and money they were on its easy to see how nuch money has been wasted. Yes a commercial manager is a must and not having one is a huge error, i will agree with you that there is a lack of match ball sponsorship, match sponsorship, advertising etc that all brings money in.
Regardless of who the owners are, the fact is i support Welling United. You clearly seem to know more about the finances than I do and if there are big debts etc then that is a huge problem. However we have a cracking manager and I along with others are going to do what we can to give us a fighting chance this season. That would be the same if it was the Hobbins, MG, Glenn Tamplin or even the Chuckle Brothers. It always has been, always will
Enough of all this back and forth, I'm off to have a few beers and watch us at Hornchurch and actually talk about the matters on the pitch

Deffo Dean, The manager and the fans that are helping keep things going are the shining light in this **** situation. Hopefully some news from the club on which players are still around etc to try and get back to normal, im aware a lot of fans know whos around but there are plenty who do not.
A trumpesque non-apology .... I'm sorry if if, but...
Paying players wages is enabling a dysfunctional, unregulated and unmanageable owner to continue to drive the club at break neck speed towards an abyss.
Saying "i'm just a fan", when representing the club at the League Annual Meetings is disingenuous.
Being competitive in a season where no fans, and a pandemic are taking place is throwing good money after bad.
Everyone supports the club, some recognise that success off the pitch is needed before there can be any on it and are not prepared to offer any cover to the specialists in bankruptcy who control it.
