There is no chance this game will be played. It has been tipping it down all night and its going to rain all day too. Unless they have a 4G pitch of course
Kojo played up front or wide and behind at Concord in pre season a couple of seasons ago, looked ok there, previous when with us played at the back and also at VCD? Interesting Brad has put him at the back?
Wilks , Green , Cook,, Dipo and Montel were at Welling last year Rich.
I dont know a few of those but the players i do know suggests that side should beat Sheppey fairly comfortably if they can stay in the game after the initial onslaught. Sheppey have lost their best player but do have Jack Midson who was assistant manager when Kojo was at Concord and released.
Hopefully improve squad when they know how much money they can have, if its just done on players already signed it could be a long season if you lose to a step 5 club albeit one of the few decent ones who will be top 6.
My word - surely a result as embarrassing as any in the club's history!
At a time when cash is strapped, this must surely be an absolute hammer blow.
I haven't seen any of the game but judging by the Twitter feed we have Wilks to thank for avoiding an absolute battering. I get the circumstances not being ideal, but is it really much different for any non-league team at the moment?

Getting smashed by Leyton Wingate or whatever they were called then was bad but losing to a step 5 club in the FA cup is probably a bit of a disgrace. Losing to Clevedon (a disgusting performance) and Whyleafe in the FA Cup weren't great.

Haringey and Wembley weren't episodes to be proud of either, but this must take some beating today. Sounds as if we were lucky to get nil too !
Haringey was bad but they would school Sheppey. We hit the post twice early on, would have been interesting to see what happened if one of those when in. Players need to bounce back next game and put on a bit of a performance to show this was a one off. Huge advantage for Sheppey today with no away fans allowed and those we could sneak in unable to support or they would be arrested.
i wonder if any of these defenders have contracts at the club based on that performance they don't deserve it (apart from green who was good for us last season) also we need good defenders badly.

Sounds like we didn't even give those that did sneak in much to shout about !
There is no getting away from the fact that Sheppy deserved their win. I do not wish to sound negative so early in the season, however, I have searched my memory for a Welling United side worse than the one we saw today. Sadly I have failed and unless something is done quickly, we are in deep trouble.

You don't have to be a paid scout to have heard that Sheppey are a side on the up and banana skin, that's proved very slippery.
Have to lick our wounds, it's done. Good luck to them in the next round.
There is one positive though: No "bad day at the office, fans were magnificant #wegoagain" type tweets!!!!!!

A side on the up maybe, and a banana skin definitely.......but one would hope you'd at least be competitive. Sounds like they missed chance after chance, and that 4 or 5 wouldn't have flattered them. Embarrassing to be so badly prepared despite the circumstances, which most definitely impact every team in the pyramid
As you say it's done now, but with this competition being the only realistic way of earning cash outside of funding/commercial for some time, you'd have thought we'd have given it a real go
A squad of Ryman North/South players who ain't played competitive football for 6months against a side who probably have more experience and win every week. Wasn't going to end well was it. Wonder where all these trialists are that were so good a month ago.

And how have they managed to keep a squad of players that have that experience and win every week when a team at our level are ****ing about with 'never will be's' ?
The good thing about supporting Welling is the consistency, each season we are told that its a strong squad etc etc, but its rare for us to have a decent cup run. I know we have had a few successes over the years, and I remember the match at Reading, but cup football just doesnt seem to work for us, regardless of the owner / management situation

By having a bigger fan base and someone who knows how to run a club for the last 12 months!
They've even got under soil heating etc. Ridiculous really but they aint like a billericay throwing money about, they are just a well run community club, i said we'd get beat the day of the draw.

Hard to argue with the point about the running of the club - can't believe they are generating much more money than us though......but like you say, it's how you run the club and what you do with your money
I only followed the game on Twitter. Sorry to say Dan Wilks was mentioned about 20 times. He made save after save. Their keeper had his pipe a slippers out. Brad Quinton will sort it out I really believe that. He almost certainly needs more funds. So if you havent already go to the Go fund me link and donate £25 now. And if you have already donated why not donate again. There will be quite a few clubs in our league who will be in the same boat at the moment. Lets try and gain a small advantage on them by raising as much money as possible for BQs budget.
I can only echo what Riverstown says. Dan Wilkes was definitely our Man of the Match, IMO the forward line showed no guile at all, the midfield was pedestrian and the defence will be torn apart by clubs in our league. I dont know who are on contracts but we definitely need some quality to give us a fighting chance.

You can cut this anyway you want. Home advantage, more games than us before today, well organised club etc
The fact is we were piss poor thats putting it mildly. Brad did his conkers at the final whistle it seems and rightly so. The fact remains that despite crowd funding boost the budget etc losing today effectively means that whatever has been raised so far frankly has been dented beyond belief as to what victory would have made and progress through a couple of more rounds
Something needs to happen on Tuesday to make amends. It isnt this early in the season you can say we can concentrate on the league. In Brad we trust
My biggest issues was the lack of desire and lack of pressing. We sat far too deep at times, moved the ball slowly and gave them too much time on the ball. Brad gave them a good volleying after the game but it just wasnt good enough. Cookie looked frustrated and I would have loved to see Stef Ilic get a chance. Wilkes frustrates the life out of me. He slows play down and never releases the ball early enough in my opinion.
I'd like to know why we are at any more of a disadvantage compared to the vast majority of teams at our level who for the most part seemed able to get themselves through against lower ranked opposition. We can appeal to fans to raise more money, blame the lack of budget etc.....but every single team in our league finds themselves in this position
A - out of FA Cup with a wimper
B - Gary F now in control will want his own manager
Just putting it out there, not calling for any change because i think Brad is a decent manager with the right intentions, contacts, and knowledge of the league.
We are in deep trouble if the secretary has told the league our budget and thats what the league will pay us from the government. Those that saw what was happening and gave themselves a couple of grand on top will be laughing. Those that never are up the creek and battling relegation.

Well done for winning the most ridiculous comment of the day award.
GF and BQ are very much on the same page football wise and, whilst performances like today are unacceptable, everybody at the club will be working to make sure there are no repeats.
When we hit the post for the second time in the first five minutes I had a nasty feeling it wouldn't be our day. We were sloppy all over the pitch, too slow moving the ball and caught out far too easily in wide areas. The two goals we conceded were unbelievable and you would be upset if an Under 10' s side conceded them.
Some players were not up to their usual standard. Some players may not even be of the required standard..?? I have faith in BQ and his management team to sort it out. For me we need more nous in the team but that might cost money we don't have.
The post match interviews should be an interesting read/listen.
Seems some of the 'p*ss poor' performances that didn't matter because it was only pre season should of mattered a little more really don't it.
I dont see how could of expected change in two/three weeks.
Nothing to do with Brads ability as a manager really, the budget aint there and the players aren't at a level we come to expect, Brad came to the club and got in a championship centre half and two league football midfielders, these players have all come from 1 or 2 levels below.
