Wonder when the cut off date will be to scrap the season. It's already looking doubtful if the leagues below will resume with the UK going into #4, hence no relegation

But there will be promotion and relegation from National and from N and S so we will complete

There is a post on the South Forum about The Chairman/Manager of Dorking who has made a lengthy post on twitter. According to him emails have been circulating among clubs and the league regarding curtailing the season. Seems some clubs want to continue and others are looking to end and be able to compete in the league next season (as Guernsey are doing in their league).

Not sure how long we can keep postponing games? Maybe league gets extended by a month or two but dont fancy 3 games per week to squeeze it all in.

If you complete but know in advance there will be no relegation, if you are in the bottom half, do you look to do so with the smallest cheapest squad you can? If some choose this route, those that have already played them that are vying for promotion could reasonably claim they had played them when there was a competitive element and are thus unfairly discriminated against.

There is also the assumption that the Government will continue to stump up the cash to allow us to continue. Has that been confirmed?

Given everyone's extreme focus on safety, as a player, I'd certainly not be playing three games a week, potentialy running my body into the ground, and making my self more susceptible to any disease floating about.

It was always likely to be a mess, it is a mess, and will continue to be a mess with minutae of Government policy changing at the drop of a hat. Anything spread over a wide geographical area and a long time period will continue to be so all the time Government policy, such as one can discern one, remains as it is.

A new 70% more contagious strain of the virus is hardly 'drop of the hat' is it?

We will see the effect on the numbers over the next few weeks

The league is already due to end in May. With play offs taking us into June. Extend it any further and the 2021/22 season will start sometime in October unless we are still locked down. I am one of those of the view that this season should not have started. We should have continued to play last season instead of the points per game scenario.

There is also the pure logistics of playing so many games a week when we rely on a minimal number of staff and volunteers. An example being getting the kit washed. Chatting to Gary yesterday before the game was called off. He was already planning to stay late last night to wash the kit. He fully expected to have to go into the ground on Christmas day to ensure everything was ready for boxing day. How we could get kits washed, get the pitch ready and the numerous other tasks done should we have to play 3 a week is beyond me.

On a final note I assume the London FA has not yet cancelled the LSC. If we are forced to play it this year I would fully support the club if they put out a team of scholars or from the academy. We cannot risk the first team this season.

On that note can I wish everyone out there in the wings family a very Merry Christmas (as much as possible) and a Happy and safe new year. Look forward to meeting up with everyone sometime in 2021.

Presumably it was known about on the preceding Wednesday when London was put in tier 3 so I would argue placing London in tier 4 three days later does at best constitute 'the drop of a hat' policy making. What is the alternative explanation that doesn't involve either a lack of political balls, gross incompetence or a more sinister motive?

Frankly it could be 1000% more contagious but if that strain's potency was just to give you a cold it would be minimal inconvenience. Point me to evidence of its identified potency and I'd be happy to read it.
