A highly competitive match with Welling once again sharing League points with unbeaten Thamesmead Town. Welling made it clear from the outset that they had put their recent defeat at the hands of Thamesmead behind them as Thamesmead tried to confirm their status as League leaders. Welling’s sheer determination and teamwork frustrated Thamesmead forcing them into making errors and failing to find the target. Welling’s chances of scoring were few and far between but they could have taken the lead when Rishi Nankani clipped the crossbar.
Welling came out for the second half in determined mood and soaked up Thamesmead’s efforts to score very early in the second half. Thamesmead efforts continued to be thwarted and had it not been for a great goal line clearance would have taken the lead. With the arrival of the substitutes Welling pushed on and by the end of the match they had the upper hand with Thamesmead arguing with each other and on the ropes.
A good team performance and a well deserved point giving Welling the possibility of being the only side to take points from Thamesmead in both League matches this season.
