Id say we need a GK. A couple of full backs. A couple of CBs. Maybe a midfielder or two and possibly three front players. If we manage to sort that I reckon we might avoid relegation.just

So long as MG is picking the team that's gonna be the situation
Managed to get there late yesterday. Understand from others who went to Worthing the performance was better (doubt if it could be worse). Keeper managed to save a penalty which should never have been given. Their keeper was none other than Chris I am going to retire Lewington.

I cannot believe the words more trialists are being used less than 2 weeks weeks before the start of the season. Absolute shamble. There a a few people at the club whove tried to do something positive during the pandemic and this absolute joke of a situation is what they are getting given in return.

C'mon, this is normal in Pre-season, and also a pre-season that's been short due to Covid. Lots of players to look at. Better to do it now rather than later. Problem might be that some clubs didn't spend all their grants or have big sponsors behind them, so we'll struggle to pay the wages. Lots of players will be floating around....lots of poor players. Again, like every season, judge after 6 games.
I dont see a problem of still giving guys a trial, he needs to get the balance right for the system he want to be able to play. There will be quite a few players floating around as the start of the season approaches, many not up to standard but perhaps a few gems who want to play at this level, rather than go to a lower league for more ££££s. The usual battle with our limited budget
Surely after tonight's game the word "triallist" should go out of the window. We will have one friendly left and the management team should by then have 95% of the squad in place to see us start the season. We need some cohesion and stability or I can see a long and painful road ahead.

Well lets hope so, Im still rather perplexed as to how people thinks its ok to have 7 or 8 at this stage. Every other club sheet Ive seen has 2 and maybe 1 on the bench. Cohesion and stability as you mentioned go some way to putting a performance in, cant just chuck players together this late in the day and expect a great deal.

Long and painful road ahead, Just what weve come to expect and accept as Welling supporters, a mid table finish and a run in the cups would make it a great season - always assuming we dont all end up in lockdown again before Christmas!
Needs must but there is no point is signing sub standard players, particularly on season long contracts. In that regard in only signing 9 or ten core players I think Lovel, has done well. The one I found strange is Aaron Barnes. Why name him if hes still a trialist and why play him every game? Surely one or two games is enough?
The good thing about the fixture list is there are less fixtures in August this year and we have at least one spare weekend in September so there is plenty of time to bring players in then with only a few games of the season gone. Free agents by then will not be in such a good negotiating position, particularly if they are keen on getting playing time. There is also the loan option.
As supporters we probably have to except that our only aim this year is to 'avoid relegation' something us longer standing supporters are only used to contemplating in the higher division.
