I don't think anyone has sleep walked into anything really. However no-one has answered my questions. What would you do to change things?
I will meet you at PVR before the game on Monday, or after and I will buy you a pint and we can discuss your proposals. Nothing confrontational, I would really be interested to hear your views as all I'm hearing are lots of people saying that things must change but no-one is giving a viable proposal of that happpens? What would you do?
Hi Dean. I cant make Monday, but you have my number. That said, its not on me is it.
I disagree. I am sorry. Many people have walked in to things allowing someone to take over the club promising the earth and delivering tumbleweed. We all know it.
Meeting me for a beer doesnt change anything, and even if I had a meeting with you or anyone else, or Jesus himself did, until the esteemed leader moves on, nothing will change, so the focus should be there.
There was a post earlier today about that. It got little response. There have been posts before about that, they got little response, or certainly little actions.
Talk is cheap, actions are better. I could do one, or both. Id prefer the owner to do both.
In the meantime, I would prefer the supporters of the club, hardcore home and away, or casual, to come together to help achieve that.
You, or anyone else, can direct your anger and comments at me, or Lovell, or players, or anyone else, but until its pointed at the top, as you yourself said in your comment top to bottom, well only continue to get nowhere and theres only one of us suffering watching it every week, and it isnt me.

Nothing can change while Goldberg owns club and doesnt want to sell ?
If he does want to sell but is asking to much WUFC will sadly stagnate for foreseeable future.
Fans/followers/supporters on forum digging each other out priceless.
Same old same old.
Wellingtown although you make SOME valid points surely you need to get your own house in order first before having a go elsewhrere.
People who care not clowns!!
Check out london gazette
Im well aware of whats going on at my club thank you. Can you say the same about yours? hardly an offence to file accounts late during a Covid lockdown is it? Rather than that closure, which is where you are heading.

Once again, as Ive said to someone else privately, and above, more interested in moaning at me, than the root of the problem at your club. My club only exists because of the incompetence of people within yours.

I assume you dont read the London Gazette, but if you do, refer back to 2014.
Also, use the same tools you used to look in to my club to look in to your own.
The problem isnt me.
Wishing you well - here as a supporter, but as I dont attend every game (although you do attend a lot and dont even bloody watch them), its fine, moan at me. I bet MG is chuckling away. As am I. What a shower of **** youve become in the last 5 years.

It would be good if more influential supporters questioned what is going on instead of turning on fans of a different opinion. Thatd be a start.
You say nothing confrontational but happy to call me a clueless prick. Please tell me what I have said that deserves that?
I personally will not be spending my money there any more. Be it "boost the budget" last year, new merchandise, using the bar or attending games.
Wow yes i may stay in the bar and i know my own club is in the **** but get your own club in order first before ypu start slagging of others
Yes we may be a shower of **** at the moment but do you have the answer , i think not especially after chatting to some of your former employees.

Where have I called you a clueless prick!? I have questioned plenty over the last year believe me! However you still have not answered my questions. How would you change things? Also I'm not asking you to spend any money, I'm offering to buy you a pint and talk about things. Stop hiding behind your keyboard and meet me in public. I will buy you a few drinks if that's your issue to talk about your amazing action plan of how you would save Welling United.

I do not have an amazing plan to save Welling. That's not my job though.
I am not trying to win some argument with you. Take the victory I don't care.
Mr Welling Town why do you refer to it as YOUR club. As I understand it you want to become a member of WUSA, which is a supporter association for OUR club. That having been said we are in a mess, as I have said before the squad, at present, is not good enough for this league, however, as Dean has said what is the answer. Without a change at the top and a large infusion of money, I have no answer. As a long standing supporter I have seen many ups and downs but never a start as to what we are experiencing now. I did not attend today, but both on and off the pitch there appears much to be desired, I do not know what will happen between now and Monday but, if the situation remains as it is at present, our Chairman and Management team will need to reflect very seriously about the future.

I'm genuinely not trying to take the victory as you say. I've asked you several times as well as others outside of the forum what their plan would be numerous times and I've heard nothing yet. It's not my job either as you say! You're saying to take the victory but you've made comments, I've asked you for an answer and you can't respond.

Hi Ron. I dont know you personally.
Its very easy to say your, our, etc. Of course Welling United is not my club. Nor is it yours. I only wish it were either rather than the current situation. Or WUSAs.
We are indeed in a mess. Youve fallen in to the same trap. By saying we, I assume you dont mean we are in a mess as in you and I are in a mess. Im not in a mess. Neither I hope are you. The club, Welling United, absolutely is.
Its great to hear so many fans, and members of WUSA, are so defeatist saying that they have no answer as to how to change things at the top. Imagine the same were on field and a manager said that. That wouldnt be good would it.
Wishing you all well hoping the same insanity delivers a different result.

Steve Lovell, you are better than this, and I feel sorry for you, but then you did sign up to this and like many before you, should and could have known better. The club is dying from the top, to the bottom, as is a) evident to anyone with eyes and ears, b) expected given previous actions of the esteemed leader.
There are one, a few or many long term supporters that might read the below and think Im being a dick. Id prefer to speak the truth even if it makes me a dick. As Id prefer to be honest than tow the line, and I care enough about the club to throw myself under the bus if needed. The majority of those people I refer to I would consider friends, and whilst we might not always agree on everything football and otherwise, were all good people, and weve all one common love, and Im not afraid to stand up for what I believe in and my club, I just wish others would too. Please.
Im told thats its all gone off after the game. As much as I hate to see this as a supporter, I also love to see it, as its whats needed to get change, and I respect people that speak their mind.
Today,
5-0 and could/should have been 7/8/9-0 against a side that arent even that great.
No radio Wings. Maybe we werent allowed, I dunno, but I dare say it wouldnt have happened anyway, its failed before. The video and highlights as well previously have been dog ****.
**** on the pitch all pre and during season so far. Losing to anyone and everyone.
**** in the dugout, with the manager Im told swearing at fans and calling out players for not being good enough whilst they were standing right behind him. The assistant only in it for a pound note or waiting for someone to get sacked.
Previously told trialists pre-season were not good enough but were keeping them on as we had no-one else. Brilliant. Really good for club rep.
I feel for Lovell. He cant be a mug, hes worked in the football league, but hes handcuffed, and now he is, hes calling out players and supporters which is not the solution. He must be furious.
Interesting to note long terms fans having a go back, but when the dust settles, what are you going to do about it? Mouthing off and getting the manager the sack isnt going to solve much if the next manager is controlled by the same people.
Christ, if we showed half as much guts and courage to change the problem, like we did to training once a week, we might get results. But I dare say people wont.
**** in the boardroom with someone that turns up when he feels like it, turns up committed to the dugout and is awful, then disappears, then comes back, then leaves again, then comes back, and when he does, has other coaches and ex-managers openly sitting next to him in the stands - hardly an accident.
**** financially with a crap budget, were told, and going begging to the supporters association one week in to the season to sign a player that doesnt even start games. Embarrassing. Why is the budget so ****?
Ground falling to pieces. Blame the Council, its easy to do, then five minutes later go to them for planning, AGAIN, and wonder why its declined (if were to believe that half-truth). Why arent the Council doing anything. Why are E&B doing more than us? Why is out stadium manager doing nothing to maintain the stadium?
Promises regarding development of the ground from 4/5/6 years ago still not actioned. Literally no progress at all. Nothing. Anyone got evidence to the contrary? At what point, 7, 8, 9, 10, 100, 1000 years does someone say, hang on
One person who comes in to the club who does anything positive, but might ruffle a few feathers, mugged off and then removed, whilst the remover enjoys the benefits of the money the removed has put in. Personally, not a huge fan of Fiore, but he gets things done. Hes got more to brag over than some others at the club. But then bizarrely we let him boast on social media on the club account about players moving onwards and upwards, and then give his staff the opportunity to jump on the bandwagon and say how its all someone elses fault.
Stadium manager on a full-time wage, even close season, when the stadium is falling apart. For some reason in the team photos, full of trialists and players the manager has said are not good enough, and today wearing a shirt and tie? Which he doesnt even do at home?
Secretary on a full-time wage and we then hire a match day secretary. Do we need both? No being the obvious answer.
Social media guy who doesnt attend away games. Or do very good social media if Im honest. And cant spell. And no social media updates when goals go in, subs made, etc.
Radio Comms that doesnt work properly. Do it right, or dont do it.
Ex-owners still owed money. Luckily they are decent enough to care more about the club than their personal pocket. To their credit, and our shame. Id react differently.
Supporters association that turns down supporter membership requests. That manages coach bookings that dont happen. Doesnt organise meetings or zoom meetings, and essentially does little more than book a quiz night once a month.
Club directors, and long-term supporters, that are happy to shout negative comments and must go, Embarrassing, Shambles from the terraces, but do nothing given their position of trust to action any of this. Have the courage of your convictions. Use your £££, and your seat on the board, to demand change. Or at least a meeting.
Club shop that is shut 99% of the week but thinks the best time to open non-matchdays is Monday AM when everyone is at work or school/college.
Catering changes every 12 months. Bar changes every five minutes. Bar more interested in overly loud Ska music or X Factor contestants/owners daughters dream than selling beer and letting people watch football.
No commercial manager, and when we did they were **** x 3 appointments. Who never once entered my High Street premises even though I am a fan of the club.
No plan (thats anything other than a dream), no strategy, no hope, no heart, no desire, no nothing. No evidence of any kind of progression from the hot air we were told 5-6 years back.
No hope. No future. Other than down.
And yet people accept it. Wow. And you call yourselves supporters? Well all the time you want to support ****, failure, lies, false hope, and complete and utter disrespect and contempt, go for it. But in my eyes thats not being a supporter. Thats being a mug. Or a lemming. Or an idiot. Or a nail in a coffin. A supporter to me wants the best for its club. Backs people through thick and thin, but there has to be a limit. Come on.
Does anyone at the club, or supporting of the club, have any balls? I know Jamie Cowley does, so do I, so does Tom Riding, and sorry to mention names gents, but I know you wont suddenly **** yourself given Ive said so, but there are several others that moan behind the scenes, but do nothing in the face of it, despite having the chance to throw some weight around.
Being a supporter is not following the lambs to the slaughter. Have some heart, some pride, and some guts. Stand up for your club, even if that makes you unpopular. If you are just interested in being popular, and towing the line, prepare to die a slow death, as you are already in a coma, and unless someone wakes up, neither will the patient.
There are some very good people at Welling United, and some very loyal supporters, of long standing. There are also many who are and have moved on. And until other see the light, the former will become the norm not the former.
Things could be different. Please make it so.
I will reply to certain comments that I actually know the answers to.
Stadium manager is not full time I believe he gets paid a pittance for a 20 hour week but volunteers many more hours than this including being the unpaid kit man. As kit man he was in the team photo as I believe kit men have been in the past. In fact when I spoke to him 40 minutes ago he was busy at PVR washing the kit for Monday.
Again the club secretary is part time not a full time employee but I know does more than his contracted hours.
Your application was not accepted as I said in my email to you as your association with Welling Town would not be in the interests of either club. WUSA has held regular committee and members meetings throughout since the start of the covid pandemic. How do you expect a coach to run if only a handful of people are interested in using it? Before you say it was only put on here for a week WUSA members were emailed first.
Welling United is not my life, it is a very important part of my life but I have other interests and activities apart from looking after the club shop on a voluntary basis. This is why the club shop only opens for a couple of hours on non matchdays. I doubt very much if many other non league club shops open when there is not a game on.
Catering wagon and provider is entering its second season at the ground. Bars are run by the club and Lauren has not been associated with them for around 3 years. As far as the Ska music goes not my cup of tea but this was put on free of charge by one of our fans using his own audio equipment.
I hope you find these answers useful, cannot answer everything and I have no axes to grind with anyone I just like to get on with it to hopefully benefit the club and its supporters.

In the grand scheme of things I couldnt give a monkeys what the stadium manager earns. Hes a decent enough bloke. Bit concerned you appear to know what he earns. If the club are telling you, Id ask why. If he is, Id be surprised. Is it on or off the books?
You say youll only answer the comments you know, so I assume you know.
Part-time club secretary, no issues. Not sure we need a club secretary and match day secretary. But thats not for me to decide, just find it a little strange. Never heard of that at this level.
I wasnt aware my application was in the public domain, let alone its success. As per the email coming to you tomorrow, not sure application is the right word, but I very much question why youd publicise this here, given your huge concern over data protection in every other communication Ive had.
Glad WUSA has had regular meetings - what has been achieved from them please? How can I join When was the last one, when is the next?
Coaches have failed to run no worries, whats being done to improve this moving forwards. There are loads of WUSA members and fans wanting to support this club, including me, how can we get to games more easily moving forwards?
I commend your love of Welling United, which is no greater or lesser than mine. But Monday morning opening is pointless, as much so as ignoring the real issues at the club, killing the effort you and others put in.

Well its the morning after a crazy day and emotions were running high after the game. I still feel very disillusioned with what's happening on and off the pitch and hopefully there will be an update sooner rather than later.
All supporters want to see the club succeed and it's tough to watch games like yesterday. I just hope tomorrow sees a more positive result!

I wasn't at the game but the fact it was all over after 11 minutes suggests there was a gulf in class between the two sides, fitness has nothing to do with it. Some of the players likely are nt up to this level of Football. The manager deserves some time to sort it out, but we cant give him too long if its not working.
The biggest mistake I think is not signing a single experienced central defender, the same mistake as last season. Also getting a season long loan goalkeeper is a gamble that has backfired so far.

I don't think the loan goalkeeper has played a league game yet due to injury? You are right; 3-0 down that quickly and the game was over and done with.
I haven't had the 'pleasure' of getting to a match this season as there has been enough going on in my life. By the sounds of things I've been absolutely spared!
What I will say is that when a manager starts publicly calling out players and turning on supporters (at any level of football), there is rarely a way back. Credibility once lost, seldom regained as they say. The fact he turned on a popular and very loyal and long standing supporter will make it even worse, and I doubt much forgiveness will be given
Sad to see supporters turning on each other and arguing too. All I can add is that anyone who cites how many games they've been too and calls out anyone who doesn't go to every game, makes themselves sound like a 'super fan' ****. There's no prizes for going to the most games, and it doesn't mean that people who can't make it care any less.
Perhaps it actually needs a relegation and the club going into administration for a 'new beginning'. For whatever reason MG hasn't been able to pull off his vision of success and must have lost a small fortune. People say that football is a business these days, but anyone with an ounce of business sense would tell you its more of a hobby and there are very few clubs either professionally or amateur that run at a profit. At the top end its a rich man's hobby, and at the lower end it depends on the goodwill of supporters and volunteers to keep the ship afloat......the exact type of people that it sounds like the manager called out ironically.
Hope to get along to a game soon (for some bizarre reason!)

Great Post. Relegation and or even worse is nt necessarily the end of the world. Too many of our fans aren't welcoming to new supporters which we obviously need to survive.

I think relegation would be horrific for Welling...it could take many years to get back with the money flowing one or two leagues below...it would also be very sad and unnecessary
Relegation would be a disaster, but consider what might be needed for medium / long term survival. I think with so many teams going to full time our 2 sessions a week isnt going to let us compete on fitness. Budget is the next problem, can we ever expect (with the current owner(S)) that well ever get the investment needed to develop not only the playing side but also the facilities themselves? Then we can think about local and community support, The Council clearly dont see Welling fc ever being a jewel in the Boroughs crown, yes we have a hard core of supporters but are numbers are reducing year by year.
All very depressing Im afraid unless the owners of the club suddenly wake up and are prepared to give the club the leadership and backing it deserves.

I agree, we wouldn't even be in the top half of them Ryman prem in our current state, but also in our current state we'll find out in 11months time.
I think some fair questions have been asked which understandably could be perceived as being personal to those who dedicate time behind the scenes however doing the same thing and plodding on won't get any different results.. I don't have the answers like many of us won't because that's not our area of expertise we're fans wanting a team or club to be proud of win lose or draw. The minimum I want to see is a team that fights for every blade of grass and a club that is well governed and respected in the community.
Unfortunately, I do think a large part of the culpability sits at the top. No one can make Goldberg sell or put.more money in however as the custodian of the club I do think he should be held to account in answering what is his true perogative, why the ropey set up I.e training once a week, ground plans etc.

Two steps backwards, one step forward. It seems that most on here want a change of ownership. Will that happen if the team survives in this division? Surely the burning platform for him will be truly alight when we drop a division, into one where there's barely any money on offer. If the club then ended up in the right hands, I'd settle for a slow but responsible rebuild.

TBF this is a brave and honest post from WT.
Where's WUSA in all this?
Absolute joke. MG promising all sorts over years, delivering nothing. WUSA cosying up, run by a few guys, behind closed doors and a less than inviting application set up.
Seriously, MG is killing the club. WUSA are aiding and abetting.
What will it take before people wake up? Relegation? Hope not, because Relegation will not demote the club, it will kill it. The arrogance and denial should stop.
