Some great news to reveal as Jamie Day has agreed to be a guest on the Radio Wing's podcast, now this episode is due to be recorded next week. Its going to be great to speak to him on his time at PVR and of course leading us to the National league South title in 2013. Im sure lots of supporters have fond memories of Jamie and his time at PVR so this is YOUR chance to put a question to him on the night, simply put your questions to Jamie below and we will try n fit as many in as possible
Can you ask Jamie how many offers came in for him during his time managing at PVR. I know Havant made him an offer but were there any others including from Dartford? And does he regret leaving us first for Ebbsfleet and then for Gillingham?

This is a real coup Nigel - very well done - shall look forward to listening to the Podcast!
Would like to know how Jamie went about building such an excellent squad of players for the Title tilt on what I'm sure must have been a relatively modest budget (though not as modest as the current budget am sure!)?

It's Wing's TV's Gavin Sutton to thank as he contacted Jamie. It should be a great podcast

I'd like to know what the budget was but I believe it were about £3,500 per week plus what WUSA put in. I reckon that is less than our current budget and probably less than the vast majority of this seasons Isthmian Premier teams including Cray Wanderers who are currently occupying the relegation zone.

Please thank Jamie for those wonderful memories. Also please ask him if he is still in touch with any of the title winning squad. Also what was his first reaction to Joe Healys wonder goal against Grimsby. Thanks.

I think you are probably right about the budget but I do think the league has got stronger since 2012 and 2013. I don't think the money was flying about back then as it is now. That said Jamie had no right to win the league on that figure if it was that. Just shows you what you can do, or could do. Would it work now?

Exactly along the lines or what I wanted to ask. Does he think nls and North is now much stronger than when he was in the English non league system and does he think his successful wings squads would have had similar success in the league as it has been past couple seasons
I think Jamie Day's title winning team would easily have competed today with his squad containing a number of excellent players. Whilst the competitive depth of today's football may have deepened in the intervening years am not a subscriber to the theory that whatever is in the current moment has to be better than what went before it. My own personal opinion is that the quality of football at our level has gone backwards if anything in the name of competitiveness but perhaps I don't see as much football as I once did!
When asked in the woodman to mark our card on conference football betting coupon for forthcoming midweek games, he successfully managed a 40/1 5 fold.
Could he offer the same insight for the weekend following his podcast?
Thank you to those involved, really great memories.
I'm quite glad that Jamie said at the end that he's not sure that he'd want to come back as manager as it would potentially ruin the great memories he has here. There would be an unfair expectation that he would be able to recreate some of the magic of that era. Part of his success may well have been that he was a young manager with good contacts. Dartford, Maidstone and Dulwich were all at a lower level and although may have been paying more than us we could offer a higher level of football. Since then many clubs have left us behind on and off the pitch.
Interesting also to hear him mention his regret at not taking over the academy. What we needed to do was do what Boreham Wood and Bromley have done with a 3g pitch, classrooms and a massive academy. It's a total scam, none of the players are good enough, but that is the way non league football has gone over the last decade.

Many thanks to Gavin and Nigel for getting this on. Also thanks for asking my questions. It was a very enjoyable listen. IMO there is no doubt that the title winning team was one of the best that there has been in NLS. Not the best but definitely in the top one. lol. Happy Days ( Pun intended) Nice to hear that Jamie is coming to the game on Saturday. I hope he brings his kids along. It was always entertaining watching his 3 boys kicking a ball around at half time. Very talented kids. Good luck to him in the future. Unless he ends up managing Sh;;;ford
Great to listen to memories of better days - Day comes over really well. Gave a nice diplomatic answer at the end but sadly don't think we'd see him back in the dugout again. In any event, if he came anywhere close to doing well MG would fire him and put himself in charge!
Good luck to Jamie in whatever the next chapter is

His oldest son was on the bench for Cray Valley (PM) and his other three are all with them in their respective age groups.
