Judging by how dry it was on Saturday it could probably do with it! Looked like it needed a sprinkler on it.

I have witnessed some $hit managerial decisions in my time, but to drop the goalkeeper, who in my opinion is up there for player of the year, is an absolute farce.
How do you disrupt a team who seemed to have turned a defensive nightmare corner.
I know, drop the keeper to the bench.
Pathetic.

Not having Sims definitely seemed to effect our defence. We need to either extend the two loanees deals until the end of the season or let them go and bring in someone else.

Dulwich were not great but had the rub of the green. I was not confident when I saw the starting line ups. Our keeper was out and their keeper, who they were so worried about losing that they manipulated the covid rules to have the boxing day game called off, was back.

I was not impressed when some officials from another club turned up at 7:40 and drove their SUV into the ground, nearly hitting those queuing for a burger. It might be a requirement that the club let's certain people drive into the ground but I'd have thought there should be a cut off time as this was clearly dangerous. Or perhaps they could use the entrance at the e&b&q end? Our ground seems even more dangerous at night time with insufficient lighting around the ground and the uneven surfaces.

I went in the bar before the game and rather than showing either of the two English teams in champions league action they were showing field hockey. I then went and stood behind the goal at the road end and pointed out to the linesman that the net was not in correctly on the right side. He then found another gap on the left side. Little things like this indicate to me that the club is not being run correctly in the operations department.

Our volunteers do a wonderful job but there needs to be better guidance from the top. And the Park End needs to be condemned.

I will back the players all the way this season as I believe they want to stay up. However, as a club we may deserve to take our medicine.

After 10 mins there was only one side going to win this match and it was not us. There was no shape to the team, we had nobody using the channels and resorted to hoof ball as a tactic, much to often. There certainly was no lack of effort and I recognise we have injuries across midfield which may be taking a toll. There are no easy games from here on in and, like the other relegation contenders, we shall be looking for at least five wins to give us more than a chance of staying up. Recent performances give us a large dollop of hope, but only time will tell. Unless there is something that we are not aware of, the dropping of Sims (if he was dropped) is bizarre and more than baffling but did not appear to affect the outcome of the game.

If we get relegated which I fear is increasingly more likely we will struggle to return to this level. With our crumbling stadium low crowds a general weak infrastructure it is more likely we will end up being relegated again. Our owner shows less and less interest in the club with each passing week. How can he show his face around the ground on match days when the whole ground is falling apart. He sits there a watches us the paying Welling Utd fan stand in what is basically a Sh@t hole to wat h the games. Its.a disgrace.

That was a drop off in performance from recent games in my view with Dulwich light years ahead of us in many ways (are they full time now?). Can't fault the effort of our lads but it looked like a midweek game wasn't suiting us and our quality was woeful. Conceding the third goal as we did just after half time was appalling. When we play as we did last night we're just not competitive enough for this League which is a shocking indictment of where the Club finds itself.

I formed an impression in the upstairs bar after the game that Sims might have had something wrong with him - there was zero justification for leaving him out on merit.

Can't see why Sims would be dropped...my fear is he's in the process of being signed by another club

Dulwich looked much better than when we played them away, glad their number 7 got booked and got subbed as he looked fast and got down the right, as usual. Disappointing that we just can't go unbeaten for a few games following a home win. Fitness has improved but we are still too quiet on the pitch, lacking width (thought Campbell might have come on) and had far too much to do after going behind - we actually looked sharper second half. As for Sims - if he was dropped can't be because of performances, must have been an injury or something else?

As for the ground enough has been said really, but if we just had a couple of days where we got a local handyman in - would be papering over the cracks, but better than just leaving the cracks. Tuesday night I noticed the upstairs toilets - mirror missing off wall leaving behind glue (£3 fix from Wilko), quick paint job (£10 fix), hand towels on floor, overflowing (buy a storage basket and bigger bin £10), dark outside burger bar (£15 LED light amazon), draught beer run out (A3 paper and a marker pen to say bottled beer available, if you have to run out), 2 out 3 TV's upstairs not working as remotes missing (£10 oneforall replacement). The little fixes are adding up to one long list that even the volunteers won't be able to cope with come the summer.

Employees at the ground could do that couldn't they?

If we had more employees then yes!

We need a skilled tradesman to do some of the jobs.

Well I mean just the basic bits you have noted but yes obviously the ground needs more than that.

Well it looks like the club now has one less as it seems that Alan Heath has left. And the job description the club have advertised doesn't seem to include many of the things he was allegedly asked to do including opening the bar for the ladies fixture on a Sunday, or helping to look after the pitch.  There seems to be too much penny pinching going on, its making the club a laughing stock.

There's one problem in itself - asking the club secretary to look after the pitch. Only at Welling

How much money are we talking about to just clean up the ground and fix the things highlighted already (repairing terracing, building fixtures etc...)? Probably around £30-40K? Is it worth putting together a fundraiser amongst ourselves for this along the lines of the boost the budget one?

Of course this means the people in charge of the club who should be paying for this get off scott free.

That's a shame about Alan Heath if true - seems a nice enough chap and was helpful when it came to season ticket and allocated seat. That's twice now with him - can imagine he was well put upon!
