I suppose when the club moves to address the lack of diversity in terms of race and ethnicity?

Not quite sure what more you want on that score

From what I saw all the kids both girls and boys looked to be really enjoying themselves. Their parents looked happy too. Im pretty sure many of those boys and girls will pester their parents to take them to again in the future.

I took my family (3 female, 1 male) to the dripping pan to see Lewes Women's play the other week just to see a game. It was good value as kids went free. 1100+ in attendance.

I took my family to Eastbourne Borough the other week, coz my kids got "kids go free" tickets at school. 1100+ in attendance.

I drove my family 60 miles to Welling as kids (u11) went free and Women for a fiver.

It works, keep going, the end.

I assume he was talking about the race and ethnicity of the fanbase not the team.

And where do those who've been moaning on this thread about the club's efforts of late exactly think the next generation of Welling fans are made? Out of thin air? Some impressive miseries on here !

Welling United's Wikipedia page has a write up summary of the seasons 2003-4 through to 2020 -21, which includes average attendances for each season. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welling_United_F.C. Looking at that, our attendances this season are really good compared to previous seasons, especially as this season we have played against quite far away teams who wont have brought too many fans to our ground, so this season's increased attendance looks to be due to new local fans.

The attendance numbers had rather frozen in recent seasons, suggesting it was the same narrow pool of loyal fans coming.

The club quite rightly wants to progress and reflect and attract the whole community.

I am really quite touched with Cheshunt, as they get about 400 home fans, hardly any away fans, so must have little money, but are still punching above their weight in getting promotion, and now finding it a struggle to cope with richer clubs with more resources. I wouldn't like us to be another Cheshunt, with very narrow horizons, struggling to progress further due to limited finances.

Big attendances and money don't guarantee success (as Dulwich are helpfully proving this season) but it makes it more likely. I have total belief in our ability to be promoted this season, but it is no point going up and coming straight back down, so we need the finances to be able to compete today and tomorrow, and I will love it when we hit a home attendance of 1000, of men, women, children and the odd unwoke resentful grinch.

I really dont get Dulwich Hamlet. Surely they are making a bloody fortune compared to the rest of us in this league. They dont appear to be putting the money into the playing squad. Wheres the money going. Perhaps they are paying off debts.

I wasn't going to bite anymore on this thread as I considered it dead but i have to respond to this...so I am now racist or do you mean the club is racist? That comment suggests either - I guess you count the people in the crowd whereas I don't care either way

This is the usual end to these stupid conversations - I will do better and go eat a guardian newspaper for breakfast every day and watch the BBC

The previous poster was commenting on the mainly white fans coming to watch Welling, but that was chiefly down to it being a comparatively fixed fan base of 450 fans who probably started coming when Welling was a mainly white area. Now it has become multicultural the new fans will reflect this new multicultural local community.

Despite the odd reservation it will also reflect the fact there are now local women who enjoy watching football, so come to watch Welling. J laughed at the idea he could be seen to have a problem with women, and from his unconscious biased point of view how could he (someone who spends their time posting snide comments about low attendances at women's football matches, or suggesting that women should not come to watch men play football) be seen to be anti-women?

West Ham have had a Junior Hammers club, is there scope for Welling to have something like a Little Wings, or Junior Wings club for younger fans. The club do social things for older fans, maybe there is scope to hold events for local kids at the ground during the week, so they and their parents get to know where the club is?

The club is right next to a main road, with bus stop serving a wide area, so there should be big posters facing the street so passers by can read saying dates and prices for the next few matches, to catch the attention of possible new spectators.

Some of the smaller cup competitions could be used to test out innovative marketing to get new fans to come and see what a match at Welling is like, maybe buy one get one free tickets, which could end up committed fans bringing along a friend who hasn't been before.

Money doesn't guarantee success, but it makes it more likely, so innovatively increasing attendances and revenues is essential to attracting and keeping quality players that will keep the fans coming back, as the attendances from seasons in relegation battles, and this current one where we are already in a play off spot, show success and the quality of the football affects attendances.

I had to do an unconscious bias training video when I started my new job - it was a load of crap.

It was laughable because the so called bias was switched - I am happy to bore people why but if you buy into that stuff then I honestly want nothing to do with with you. It is literally anti white male stuff - I will go into why if anyone is interested

I have just started a new job and thankfully everyone is normal - they are all older so have missed the crazy woke bull****. And all my bosses are women - normal ones and not the nutty feminist creatures

Now the Queen is gone it is RIP Great Britain as this stupid country copies America and listens to idiots like Meghan Markall

This is what net zero and unconscious bollocks will lead to....this winter is a taste of net zero but just remember our "betters" won't go cold.

Don't worry Johnny - I'll go on my unconscious bias training course so when I'm freezing I will know Im not being racist by turning on my heating - you ****ing dick

I probably shouldn't post on here after too many drinks although I suppose it makes the forum a bit more interesting

Warren Feeney and at least sixteen players I should think.
