I've had a look a the YouTube highlights of their matches so far this season, and they have really slick passing, so look as though they will be the best team we have played so far this season. But a word of warning, they shamelessly dive to try to get penalties in all their games, some hilarious collapses when they haven't even been touched, so let's hope the ref and assistant referees are aware of the scams Oxford try to pull, as it is sad when a skilful team like Oxford try to win by cheating.

Where to start?
Warren mentioned end of September for the team to gel.
Think we are there already.
Never envisaged that.
Genuinely though a draw at HT would have been a result.
Great buzz about the place and look forward to games rather than going through the motions.
Well drilled side and never take away the managers passion, even if it does get him the odd yellow.

I cant tell you how much I enjoyed that. Yes it was like watching the Jamie Day Frosty/Ash team at times. Another very decent crowd considering there were very few Oxford City fans there. Loving this at the moment. COYW.

Thank u so much welling for getting me to enjoy football again, great atmosphere, no trouble , great food , bar service and hut amazing. No clicks and people smiling, result helps !! I dont think we play offs but I could be wrong, on our budget compared to our kent rivals we are excelling, from 6/0 last year a draw would be massive . Its got the feel of a really good club again, well done to all for turning things round

On a different planet from last season on and off the pitch, well done to everyone at the club for turning things around so dramatically.

The vital win last season against Maidstone was our most memorable performance with Warren, but today's win is our best performance in attack and defence with Warren, scoring 5 without conceding. A Hemel player said after we played them we beat them up from front to back, and today we were so much quicker than Oxford, and they kept mis-hitting passes as they weren't used to the speed of our play, and fitness, and couldn't match it. I love watching this team as it is such a mix of very experienced players, and younger players towards the start of their football careers learning from the more experienced players. It is fantastic for Antony to be playing with Ade and Stefan and learning unselfish layoffs from them, and his skilful lay off for one of our goals was so enjoyable. Going into the match I thought we might edge it by the one goal, but today was a really important win, as up til now we had beaten lower teams, and lost to higher ones, so this is the first time we have beaten a team above us, and as a result are now above them in a play off spot, while they have moved out of the play off spots. It looks like Warren has very quickly found out his preferred starting 11, and the settled team is quickly increasing its understanding. Great family feel about the match today, and another increased attendance, as our skilful attacking football keeps bringing fans back. Well done to everyone involved on and off the pitch for bringing the feelgood factor back to Welling.

The best performance I have seen for a couple of seasons. What is good is not only is the side we put out today performing well the bench is equally as good. We seem to have a shape at last which, for the first time for years, may serve us well next week. Have watched the interview with the Oxford manager who must have been watching the gamewith rose tinted glasses, at no time did he give Welling any credit and you would have thought that his side were something more than which they were, bit part players. I am sure Warren will not let standards drop and long may it continue.

What a great performance, even missing the fourth goal didn't dampen the experience. From last season to now doesn't seem possible

Game over at half time. Last season was the same - but we were the team who had no chance.

After the match I was looking forward to hearing the interview with the opposition manager, as I was really interested to see what positives he could get from his side (who had won 4 of their previous 5 games) being beaten 5 - 0, being unable to match Welling's speed of play, having a very lightweight attack on the day, and repeatedly defensively unable to deal with us. Well, he certainly came up with some positives, according to him his team matched us, and we only won because of five moments going our way!

Talking of bizarre manager interviews, we have Dartford next, after they lost against Taunton recently their manager gave an amazing (and accidentally comical) post match interview, which will have REALLY encouraged all his squad, saying that they lack aggression, haven't got any players able to win the ball back, hasn't got any men in the team, lack guts in the team, some players lack heart and desire, they are too old, he needs to let players go and bring new ones in, that players dont listen to him as they think he is too old, etc it's on the Dartford FC site in the vid called Alan Dowson | Post Taunton Town (A) The funny thing is he must have realised it looked bad to have been publicly so despairing, so a few days later he made an update vid to improve the situation, in which he pretty much repeated what he had already said! Since then they have lost to Worthing and Chippenham, and beaten Hemel. I must say, it is an interesting time to be playing them, so I am looking forward to playing them next Saturday!

Warren is very modest, Oxford went into the match 4th in the table, above us, yet were beaten 5 0, attendances have doubled since Warren took over, as fans are drawn to his exciting football, the 19 new signings this season have hit the ground running, with 4 wins from the last 5 games played in the last 17 days, and the packed schedule has sped up the gelling process we need. Warren has brought about outstanding fitness, and Welling are already promisingly placed in the table, pushing Oxford out of the play off spots and moving Welling up to a play off spot, just two points off third spot, with even better to come as the players learn to play even more to each others strengths.

Was really impressed with the work rate and skills of the entire team especially in the first half which was where the game was won. I always take an interest in seeing the opposing manager's view of the game which offers a different perspective. However, just playing pretty football alone doesn't win you matches at our level and on the day his lads didn't compete at the same level as us. Terrific performance Welling.

We didnt play that well yesterday.  We played long ball, there were only 5 moments in the game, we have a narrow pitch and the grass was too long - according to the Oxford manager.

I hope we play just as badly next Saturday.

How good was yesterday!?

Dominant performance, especially in the first half where we looked like scoring everytime we attacked. The Oxford 19 was comedy Gold, berating his team mates and the officials all game while he was bloody awful, and kicking the ball in his own face in the second half!

Azeez and Payne took their goals so well and it was great to see the long ball tactics we used in our losses gone, and a slick passing game causing Oxford's undoing. As I said after Monday, I've not been Chi's biggest fan at times but I thought him and Aaron Barnes were superb yesterday. Sendles White also impressed on Monday and yesterday.

There's a real feel good atmosphere on and off the pitch at the moment. I was chatting to Paul Whitehead and some of the players yesterday and just said the club is on a different level to last year, it's a place you want to be, and there were lots of people in the bar buying drinks long after the game finished, last year it emptied quickly. The club certainly feels united, and long may it continue.

Hopefully the same result against the mob up the road next week, and onwards and upwards!

Great to read all this stuff, although I didn't realise we have a new loaf at the back Polo (seedless white) lol.

Hopefully it continues to when the Mrs lets me off baby duty and beyond.

Great to see the Wings hit five at home. Feel good factor around the club after a dismal season last year. Good to see the marquee bar extension open and easy to get served. Well done to Paul Whitehead and Co for delivering as promised so far. More to do but a solid start. Up the Wings!

Mind you it is always weird judging crowds. I remember a Dartford game a couple of years ago when there looked to be 2000 and the announced crowd was 1100. Your eyes can play tricks with youbiggrin

Good weather, good crowd and a great performance to go with it.

To score five and keep a clean sheet against a team who won their previous four games scoring 10 and not conceding was impressive. We basically bullied them from start to finish but we also played some excellent football and scored some good goals along the way. The front two were very good and linked up very well. Aside from the goals their work rate was exceptional and the fitness levels of this team are already starting to show their worth. There's still a long way to go but signs the team are starting to really gel and that will only improve. Man of the match however goes to the Oxford manager for his post match interview - have a listen if you haven't already as it's comedy gold!

Still nervous about next weekend but at least I know with this squad we will give them a game and we can go there with optimism rather than wondering how many we will lose by which has been the case in recent seasons.

Up the Wings!

Oxford City lost 0-1 to Chippenham this evening. I wonder if their manger thought that they should of won the game. Probably put the loss down to just one moment where Chippenham got a lucky break which led to their goal.
