Radio Wings haven't gone live yet, if they dont come on the opposition are doing a stream, though as they don't know us their commentary says a lot "a Welling player..." mixlr.com/radio-beaver/
Must apologise for no Radio Wing's today, didn't arrive at the ground till half time and by the time i would have set up the second half would have started. Horrendous journey down, my thoughts are with the families of the people who lost thier lives today in the A2 accident. Next commentary will come from Ebbsfleet in 2 weeks
In agreement regarding the Feeney sending off. That was pathetic, and will be letting him know as much should I get the opportunity to bump into him anytime soon.
Love the passion he portrays, but that silly holding up the ball for no apparent reason was ridiculous.
As for the game, thought the second penalty shout was more blatant than the one we got
Switched off after half time and that proved costly.
Still think Payne is a Coombes type player and thought a shot on target rather than an intricate pass would have been a better option in the first half.
Azziz was my MoM purely as he held the ball well and created a lot of problems.
If only we rolled the dice a little more and not left him 30 meters in front of any other Welling player.
Cant complain, I guess, following last season, but it is frustrating how we tore teams like Oxford apart, yet appear to struggle to put a passing game together.
4 at the back certainly works, yet we decided to change it During the game.
Would like to see a set up that has Phapados (Greek bloke) playing in behind the front two of Payne & Azziz.
Transport issues meant I had to rely on radio commentary to get an idea of the match, and look forward to the match highlights on YouTube.
It is easy to overlook the fact that we have been in the top 10 ever since August, so have been constantly competitive.
We won 3 in a row, and immediately followed that with our current 3 draws in a row, so are unbeaten in 6, so there are lots of positives, as well as a few areas to improve on. We are creating lots of very clear chances, maybe even more than earlier this season, but right now are just not putting as many away as we were earlier on, but I am sure that blip will get fixed in training.
The highlights are on YouTube, and although highlights are never that reliable a reflection on the overall balance of a match, especially away highlights which often downplay our attacking play, the highlights show we created three really good openings in their box in each half, so six clear openings in an away game is ok.
But a quarter of the season has now been reached, and we continue our run of three months as a top 10 club, and if we establish ourselves as a top half of the table team this will be a great season, with any play off place being an unexpected massive bonus.
This league is so competitive, everyone, including us, looking to constantly improve, and teams like Dartford and Hemel are finding out their best 11 and hitting form, and the closer you look at the league the more you realise how competitive it is, as Bath are in a play off spot in 7th, but there are 7 teams within 3 points below them.
Having now seen Warren's red card incident, it looks unfair, as any neutral Welling fan can see Warren was far from timewasting, but was actually speeding up the play, by stopping the ball from rolling away...
There are different sets of highlights on our channel and Hampton's channel, ours shows just one opening for us in their box in the second half, their channel shows three. It is funny though that our highlights this week were just two minutes long, I guess the editor wasn't in the mood to watch that match again!
But we are still unbeaten away in the league, and Warren has been doing a great job in quickly finding out our best starting team, and which formation works best. It is a shame the highlights on our channel missed out Warren's red card, as from the outraged Hampton radio commentary I thought he had been timewasting like mad, but actually when I saw it on their channel he'd just stopped the ball from rolling too far away, and the ref seems to think it a red card for a team official to dare to touch the ball when it is out of play. Welling need Justice for Feeney!
