Are you sitting comfortably? Good, then I will begin.

The captain of the Titanic in his latest interview previewing this match said with a straight face, quote, "Theres no crisis. Were in a fantastic position."

Crap. We have got 3 points out of the last 18, playing some of the lowest teams, and the teams below us have been steadily catching up, and we are only 6 points above relegation, whereas a few weeks ago we were miles above it.

This latest delusional managerial comment made me look a little more carefully at things.

He has kept banging on about how we are so much better off than where we were, and we are progressing.

But let's look closely, are we, or is this just more of the fraudulent spin?

Last season in a league of 21 teams we played 40 games, and got 38 points.

So far this season we have played 36 games, and got 42 points, 4 more than last season's total.

This season is a bigger league of 24 teams, so we have 46 games to play.

But to compare like with like, in 4 games time we will have played 40 games, and so can compare this season's points total with last seasons. Hypothetically we might get 4 points from those 4 games, a win, a draw, two losses. 46 points. So we would have improved 8 points over last season. Wow. That is Warren's great step forward, the platform to build on, a few more points than last season. And we may do worse than that.

All these interviews where he has got away with murder, falsely saying we are doing so much better than last season. Last season we won 10 out of 40 matches, this season we have won 10 out of 36 matches, and have only won 5 out of the last 25 matches, 20% win rate, worse than Peter Taylor.

The owners should have realised months ago the downward spiral we are on under this manager, I diplomatically made that point about our deteriorating results in the meet the manager evening months ago, but the old boys club has rallied around to protect what results show should have stopped being protected many months ago.

The players are playing for each other, not the manager, any good results now are in spite of him, not because of him.

The loser keeps pointing out I have only been following Welling for a year. But, like many fans, I am much older, wiser, and have seen many more years of football, and know it better than someone who keeps making the same mistakes. So the loser puzzled over why we draw, the wiser fans think, "well, if you play defensively, you won't concede much, but you wont score much either." And as a spot on fan here said, if you aim to defend all the time, sooner or later you will concede. The wise experienced fans can see the answers, the arrogant loser foolishly dismisses the wise as just noise.

In the last Sex Pistols concert a disillusioned Johnny Rotten asked the crowd if they ever felt they had been cheated. I do, this team is great, I'd love to see them all back next season, but the way they have been managed they have been set up to underperform. There has been none of the claimed improvement this season, we are not particularly better off than last season. Looking back at the past seasons, relegated teams get less than a point a game on average to go down. We have roughly a point a game. This is not the successful season building for the future the spin is trying to present it as. 6 points above relation with 10 games to go is not what the aim was. This Weymouth match is one of those one has to get something from, even a draw is OK, as it stops them from closing the gap on us. A relegation battle, crowds no bigger than last year, is this the future the owner want? Or do they believe the fraud, "Theres no crisis. Were in a fantastic position."

Good luck to the guys against Weymouth, as the manager has never understood all season long, play to our attacking strengths, we'll win. Play to concentrate on stopping them, we won't.

too long; didn't read. Hmm....

Twitter has debate like "Feeney won't get you where you want to go", or "Feeney bald fraud". But the problem with posts like that is it gives no detailed idea of whatever the person posting thinks. So, OK, why does that person think Feeney won't take the club to where it wants to go? What does the other poster think Warren is misleading about? That is why I dont bother with stupid superficial Twitter, and enjoy intelligent discussion here, as I have learned a lot here, and it is weird, I know key figures at the club thinks this site is toxic so dont read it (or more accurately say they dont read it) but this site is fantastic, as it gives a real reflection of what people think for better or worse.

Like crowds doubled to 1000, then dropped back to 500. But what did the disappearing 500 think? So it is good to say whatever one thinks. Weymouth is a massive game, worth spending more thought on than oo long; didn't read.

So taking silly pot shots at me because I take the time to actually spell out what I think, and the background reasons why, is pointless. Mark Danson took one of his regular potshots at me about the length of my posts, but at least I am addressing the issues undermining this club with the hopeless management that has resulted in 5 wins in 6 months. What exactly has he addressed to improve things. Same with Hobbit, slag off the length of post that is too long for him to concentrate on, but how exactly has he looked at the problems and recommended solutions? Small minded people focus on people, big minded people focus on issues.

We've gone down to Weymouth early, got things wrong last time we did that, but on Tuesday they lost to 2 - 5 to Hungerford who are really bad, so maybe Weymouth have injury problems, as that result was unexpectedly bad. FFS come on Welling, time for us to get our first league win in March.

Just to explain the issue that is so worrying, and more important than irrelevant posts about how long another poster writes to spell out the concerns no one in the club seems to recognise.

We have got 3 points from our last 6 matches. If that form carries on for the last 10 games we would get another 5 points, putting us on 47 points. Then the worrying question would be is 47 points enough to keep us up?

We are 6 points above relegation, so if we just get 5 more points and all the 5 teams immediately below us get 12 points or more, and the 5 teams are showing the form to get those 12 points, we are down, it is as clear and worrying as that.

The new striker looks promising, maybe a miracle will happen and the manager will finally realise we need to stop playing so deep that we dont get enough players in their box to score.

So the idiotic comment from the manager in this match preview that we are in a great position is only matched by the naive owners not seeing through him months ago.

What was that you was saying about red cards?

FFS!!!! Is this the only way the manager knows how to "motivate" the team...disgraceful management.

I say it again, we are both in free fall and deep trouble. I really do not know how the powers that be have let it come to this, they must be spending a fortune for a side whose disciplinary record is a disgrace and whose performances of late bear no resemblance to a side (notwithstanding I was not there today) who could give a sh*t. For all that has gone on off the pitch to raise the profile of the Club, results on the pitch have been abysmal of late but to listen to the management you would have thought we are on an even keel. If changes are made now, we certainly would be no worse off, but for the life of me I cannot see that happening.

Just bumped into one of the under 23 squad. He seemed really dejected as they lost 3-2 at home (Kidbrooke I should have gone) today. Need to pin our hopes on the ladies tomorrow so we dont suffer a hat trick of defeats.

Please tell me whether the 11th red card was harsh? I know the previous 10 have been apparently. What chance have we ever got with this appalling lack of discipline?

Added to that it would appear that Payne has another 3 match ban and Dunne is not far off it.

Blatant red, maybe not on purpose but is was dangerous play. Unfortunately you can't kung-fu kick people in the head.

The club really needs to come out and explain why they are supporting Feeney.  The longer it goes on without any Communication from the club it is becoming more and more obvious that the reason the manager is still in place is for non footballing reasons.

Tuesday is simply MUST Win

Well it is sort of yes, he was going for the ball and only had eyes on the ball. Year or so ago it would of only been a yellow card because there was no intent.

Theres a lot of sack the manager demands me included. But lets face it the players arent good enough. Either not up to it or well passed their best. There has been bad recruitment all through the season. As Ive said before. We aint very good. I dont recall enjoying any game this season. The brand of football is dreadful. Soul destroying really. The beautiful game is pretty ugly at Welling. The players should take their share of the blame.
