I can't defend tonight's performance it was poor. No question. It is also happening too often and for too long. I think everyone knows that. The problem is we are divided on how to fix it. The majority want Warren Feeney sacked and a few of us don't. In a democracy everyone is entitled to their own view. What we witnessed at full time was a disgrace by everyone and everyone connected to Welling United should ashamed. It wasn't a good advert for non-league football and had I never been before I wouldn't be back. God knows what those connected to Taunton Town thought. I think we are in a relegation fight but I believe with so few games to go we should keep the same manager as I believe like last season he is the man to turn it around and get the points we need. To recapture our early season form. Others don't I accept and respect their opinion and they could be right. It is getting increasingly difficult for him to remain manager and I think he might resign. If another manager does come in then support him win, lose or draw. Equally, if Warren stays at least support him and the team during matches. Protest verbally at the final whistle or protest by staying away if you wish but please don't fight amongst ourselves and stay Welling UNITED. I have made many friends at the club and see it as family. I don't buy the theory we will be relegated because all the remaining matches are against teams above us. Anything can happen. I see possible wins at home to Bath, Eastbourne, Hampton and possibly Ebbsfleet if they are on their holidays by then. Away I think we could beat Dover and Chippenham. I am still convinced our points will come on the road somewhere. If you take teams that are higher and better what about Farnborough away we played really well there and got a point. Why Can't that happen again? Or maybe next time we might win, who knows. What I've seen is that we are better away from home. At home I feel this toxic atmosphere and wonder if that affects the players as they might be scared to make mistakes, disappear into themselves and don't play with confidence or freedom. In the league we have lost 10 at home but only 5 away there must be a reason for that. Only the owners can change things if they wish I doubt what we do or don't do will influence that. Is is probably out of our hands so us arguing is going to make a difference. Remember one thing we all have feelings you, me, Warren Feeney, the players and the owners and if we can be thing then lets all be kind to each other.

I respect all views but until the goal in 82min it wasnt toxic and fans were behind the team creating nothin.

if left back was playing as a winger then so was the right back.

we lack ideas and tactics

the scenes at full time were laughable and most of the noise was coming from teenagers who have skipped doing homework but probably share same views as many older supporter.

Alan why do you think the atmosphere is toxic in the first place?

Have you watched Feeney interview after last nights game? Have a look and then come back and tell me why the atmosphere is toxic

Feeney needs to go NOW before its too late.

I thought their keeper should have been sent off but its irrelevant really.

I dont care about us playing passing football or direct football I care about winning football matches and to do that you need to create chances and score goals. Feeney seems devoid on ideas on how to do that. We actually created more last season. We need a new manager in before the transfer deadline next week.

Not sure how you're seeing that Alan. https://www.soccerstats.com/formtable.asp?league=england7

If Feeney goes, I suspect we will win a few with the new manager bounce.

It was as bad as it gets last night. No urgency, slow build up, endless long balls up the pitch towards Azeez. We rarely spread the play to the right of the pitch either. It wasn't as though Taunton were a good team more that they were more motivated.

When the Taunton keeper took Azzez out we should have had 4 or 5 players around the referee and linesman calling for a red. Appealing but not swearing. And then when Miles saved the penalty our players didn't react.

The conclusion has to be that the players don't care.

Hopefully we hear news that Feeney has gone, if not I may not bother going on Saturday. How embarrassing for the club if we get less than 500 on Non League Day.

Only way he goes is if he resigns. The owner clearly adores him and will never sack him. The owner is simply enhancing the toxic culture of this football club at the moment.

Warren's reason for his failure in manager job after job is clearly he has no insight, so he never understands what has gone wrong, so he never fixes it.

But worse than that, he is arrogant so has no interest in fixing it, as fixing it means he has to admit it is not working, and he is too proud to admit he is unsuccessful. These crap performances and results have been going on for 6 months, and he doesn't even recognise it, or pass on any urgency to the team to fix things. So he comes up with delusional crap like we are in a fantastic position and there is no crisis.

When I spoke with him the other day before a game I was telling him we don't push up in enough numbers, and that he and the players needed to watch a replay of the Oxford 5 - 0 win, as in that we played down the wings, had loads of players pushing up to support attacks, so need to get back to that style of play we have since forgotten how to do. As he can't take constructive criticism he just stormed off in a temper, which just confirms everything I think about him.

A decent manager with this sort of poor run would think months ago, "wow, our results are bad now, why is that, what do we now need to do differently?" But Warren has no fresh ideas, he only ever has his Plan A, the way we played last night was how we have played since October, nothing changes, so no wonder we keep getting the same bad outcomes.

In his post match interviews this lack of awareness shows, he never gives the slightest sign he knows why we lost or what needs to be done differently. Yes, to try to save his skin he will disgracefully throw a player under the bus to try to make it look as if it is that player's fault, and nothing to do with the manager, but acknowledging we didn't attack enough, were too deep, nah, he doesn't understand a thing that is going wrong.

James Dunne has given a YouTube interview that is amazing, as it is a reflection of what the fans here have been saying, instead of Warren's self serving fraudulent spin, James is saying honestly we are in a mess, in a dangerous place in the table, we are not creating enough chances for the strikers, it is not good enough... if you've not seen that interview yet definitely one to watch, as it is the only recognition I have seen from anyone connected with the club that there are serious problems. www.youtube.com/watch

Warren has had his chance, been here as a manager for over a year now, had enough time to build HIS team, that play HIS tactics (not that one notices there are tactics, too often it is 11 individuals out there with no developed understanding of each others' strengths) and it has been failing for 6 months now. He has no insight, so will not make the changes needed, so will continue getting things wrong for however long he remains here.

It is handy having Alan's comments, so this is a balanced discussion, but this is a results business and our results are hopeless, and in any sensible business there is only one outcome.

Relegation will be a disaster. We were relegated six years, and look light years away from going back up.

If we get relegated who can say it wont be six years plus before we go back up to our current division?

All because a stupid owner didn't bother looking into the serial loser background of the manager to find his previous clubs had been relegated (not just done badly, but been relegated) as you can bet if we talked with fans and players of his previous clubs they would have had exactly the same experience of his arrogance and lack of football intelligence and shockingly bad player management in games that we have had. It is long overdue for the owners to fix their mistake in this appointment.

I watch matches from the Erith side of the stadium so I don't have to listen to the manager screaming all the time, and Steve King was watching the match in the Erith side last night, giving a wave to the fans calling out his name.

I think he has had five top 6 finishes in our current division, so I really hope he was there last night as a possible sign he may be back, as we need someone with a track record of success, not a track record of disaster.

Like many on here Ive been going to PVR for many years but never before have I experienced the vitriol and ill feeling that the supporters expressed at the end of the game.

Much has already been said about the current manager and Steve Kings presence last night could be seen in a number of ways, the last I knew he was at Chippenham and was costing the chairman a lot of money. Should he become the next manager we can expect a significant outflow of monies on players but he produced some of the best football I have seen at the club for a good while.

The club made substantial inroads pre season with many improvements and built up goodwill with the supporters so that it felt we were riding into the season refreshed and ready to take on the challenge together. I feel that all that has been negated by their current stance. They need to come out and make a statement as to why they are supporting the manager as clearly things are not obvious to the casual supporter when all that can be seen are poor performances on the pitch. On the other hand they may feel content as they are with the hope of three wins to stay up and re group next season and ignore everything in the meantime

As for the individual whoever he is from the coaching staff who decided he wanted to wade into the crowd he either needs sacking or being told to wise up.

When Boris resigned as PM he stated that "when the herd moves", this is what is happening, the attendances targeted of 1000 are not being achieved, people are voting with their feet, or people will still continue to support their football team in whatever form. Clearly the herd is now moving, the supporters will always be the lifeblood of a football club bringing revenue and support. The board at the moment are choosing to ignore them. This is not a wise thing to do

When I came to the first few games of the season I thought I had gone through some kind of magic entrance.....everyone was buzzing...
I sat outside and had a beer and after finishing it someone popped up and would I like another and off she went and served it to my table....we had the cover at the park end....several interviews with what was planned next....big ideas...YES I got taken in by it too!...Crowds got to 1100...it looked like 'lift off'

Now...no more interviews of the plans....crowds back to 400 ish....football (from what I hear as I am unable to come at the moment due to family issues) is terrible...budget is high...but for what?...PLUS the owners are wanting to fight the fans!

We have never had a great ground...we have never (apart from a couple of seasons with Daisy) had a great team...BUT we had our club!....Even during the tax issues we as fans got it back from the brink....I don't think ..listening to several long term supporters that there is a lot of appetite to even buy season tickets for next year....these are the lifeblood of the club

Yep...I was taken in by the early season hype about everything....should have known really...this is Welling....doesn't happen to us

Sorry state of affairs at the moment. Even a friend of mine cant believe how bad it is, was his first game attending.

Also, Lino club side had sweets thrown at him, hitting him in the head. Cowardly and pathetic behaviour, regardless of decisions etc.

I didnt attend the game last night as based on my previous visits this season last being only one week back, I didn't have the motivation to go as the football I have seen recently has been the worst I have seen for quite sometime. I am not one to say change/sack the manager but it is they who takes overall responsibility for what is produced on the pitch. Off the pith the club made some great inroads at the beginning of the season and it was great to see decent crowds and also families attending. The atmosphere early season at home for one particular game was the best I have seen for sometime. However after hearing about what happened last night which is totally unacceptable and embarrassing for the club and something needs to happen. Welling have a nucleus of supporters who go week in week out to support the team but they are being badly let down.
Up the Welling!

Yes, Steve King (Steven to Gloucester supporters!) is manager of Gloucester City who have a chance of getting a play off place in the Conference North, so, whilst I understand he still lives in East Sussex, I think it unlikely he would jump ship at this stage of the season. More likely, he was at PVR last night checking out for last minute signings to bolster Gloucester's play off push although again, I don't think there is much in the budget pot there. Remember though with Kingy, hen has never won promotion through then play offs at our level and was sacked at Dartford for not doing so, (and rumoured to have eaten into the 22/23 budget taboot). Generally a very good manager though who worked wonders at PVR before MG kicked him into touch. Perhaps he has heard about our "big" budget?
What I would like to know, and I have no desire to get involved beyond the terraces, what is WUSA's stand in this current situation? Don't they have a representative on the board too? Does WUSA still even exist? (last entry in their privilged forum was 10th November???) Like the owners the lack of noise coming from WUSA ranks is deafening!

It sadden me that a season ticket holder friend of mine, came up to me and shook my hand, and said I will see you next season maybe, I am not coming back until Feeney,s gone. .the reality for the club board to tackle is long term regular supporters are also voting with their feet.

How quickly the early season optimism and feel good factor has faded away. Us fans want to see at least a competitive team that has some sort of system and pattern of play. That just isnt happening is it. Boring unstructured football from players who dont seem to know what they are doing or supposed to be doing. The bar was set so low (Mid table finish) for the players they have never pushed themselves or worried about losing because we only have to finish 12th 13th 14th. I myself have noticed things off the field appear to have changed. There doesnt seem to be as much enthusiasm from the owners/board members as earlier in the season. Rumours of unpaid rent. Training on the pitch not at a training ground to save money even though the pitch could do with a break. Falling attendances. etc etc. Its so bloody depressing.

Warren is a toxic manager towards the fans, losing support by constantly slagging the fans off.

His attitude to his players stinks as well, with the same loss of support from the players. Football is supposed to be about motivation, being ambitious, aiming big, he just plods along saying we will take each game at a time and see where it gets us.

I chatted with a player who told me the players are inconsistent, which is why they are not playing at a higher level. That echoes what Warren keeps saying about the players, and it must be as depressing as hell to keep having a manager who constantly says you are not good enough.

Then his individual man management is equally disgusting, I remember Kai saved a penalty, and he was a hero for Warren. Then he let in some poor goals and he was singled out for criticism by Warren, which is really bad, as keeping is all about confidence and instinctive reactions, so undermining a keeper's confidence is a massive mistake for a manager.

Warren was back to his usual irresponsible crap yesterday of throwing a player under a bus to cover his own butt, this time blaming Chi individually for the loss, and saying he attacks too much for a defender, following on from the previous game where he praised Chi for his attacking play, saying he could do more of it.

With so much inconsistency and toxicity towards them from the manager no wonder players are clearly sick of the sight of him. He reminds me of David Brent from The Office, pompously thinking he is Mr Big Time Manager, when his career results show consistent failure, no matter how low the pyramid he drops to manage in, as he is too arrogant to learn from his mistakes, so fans and players waste their time on his repeat cycle of unsuccessful football. His answer to any problems is to work harder, but that doesn't solve the problems.

We are 5 points above relegation and we have Bath, Chippenham and Hampton coming up, all in form, who have won 3/5, 5/5 and 4/5 respectively, (we have 1 win in 12 games) so if we keep the serial loser in charge and get the predictable 0 points, may well be in a relegation spot after those 3 games.

Can WUSA apply any pressure for comment or release their own statement demanding action? If not, surely supporters need to protest or something similar. It cant be allowed to carry on and supporters just be ignored. We could boycott the club bar, food truck etc. could be a starting point. Anything that hits their pocket.

Most of this Muzza yes. Unfortunately because of unreliable supply, poor standard and service, several I know don't now use the bar or food facility.

What is the point of WUSA if it has no voice? Is WUSA in limbo with the owners too? Anyone on here a WUSA member? What do they say? I don't know anyone who is a member, I've never been encouraged to join in my 40+ years of attending, neither do I know anyone who is a member. How many are there?

Mr Hartley, you are the last one I recall enquiring on here about joining and you were thinking of paying your £10 over? Did you?

I have watched all the post match interviews by Warren Feeney I always do after games. The point he made about their goalkeeper is valid. I thought he should have been sent off and so did the people around me and they were Deres fans. I too was in the Deres stand. One of them said the ref bottled it. The only opinion that counts is the ref's though. BUT those decisions do change games. If they were reduced to 10 men we might have won. The keeper wouldn't have been there to turn that excellent shot over the bar. Perhaps with 10 men they would have played deep and not attacked to win the penalty which was a little soft I thought. All of this is speculation because we did lose FACT.

Reading all these posts everyone is making points that are valid some of which I wholeheartedly agree with. I don't think individual players should be criticised in public that should be addressed in the changing room but perhaps the point Warren is trying to make in interviews are these are individual errors by players, not always the same player I hasten to add. That can't be coached.

My point is I don't want managers to be constantly changed it is destabilising. It may surprise you to know I didn't want Warren Feeney as manager I wanted to keep Peter Taylor who I felt did the best he could with zero budget and he turned Akinyemi's career around in getting him fit. We had 3/4 managers last season Lovell, Goldberg, Taylor and Feeney and it nearly cost us. That is why I want Warren Feeney to stay. I can see how you think he comes across as arrogant but wasn't Alex Ferguson arrogant? Maybe they need that to do the job and not be swayed by outside influences. I sat with Warren at the bar at Brockenhurst having a beer with him and he will talk about football all day and listen to you views. He isn't arrogant as a man if you talk to him sensibly, maybe he comes across that way because he believes in not getting close to fans because we are fickle, can't argue with that. When they and the team and doing well we love them but when they are doing badly we hate them.

I also believe you stand by your club, your team, your manager through good and bad. Accept the successes with grace and enjoy them but equally take the failures on the chin and rally behind those charged with putting it right. Win, lose or draw. I accept the booing didn't start until the 82nd minute and we played badly but it shouldn't start at all during a match we are there to support Welling United. The club and everyone wearing the badge. At 90 minutes yes have peaceful demonstrations or stay away from games to get our fans displeasure at the way things are being run and the direction the club is heading in. I agree fans views are important and should be heard. We are the lifeblood of any football club.

Changing manager every season or worse during a season isn't the answer for me. I wanted King, Quinton, Taylor and now Feeney to stay. I don't think there is much wrong with the defence. You can see Myles Roberts is going to be a goalkeeper who will play at a much higher level. The back 4 of Howard, Lyons-Foster, Sendles-White and Ezennolim is solid. We don't often concede many and frequently only lose by the odd goal. The midfield and attack isn't working and must be addressed. My big fear is with 8 games to go a reset could be terminal to staying in this division. Yes we might get the new manager bounce but equally we might not. I think stick with Warren to the end of the season and let him fix what is wrong because he knows this group of players. Then in the close season it can be decided on the best way forward and with who as manager.

Whether he resigns or not let's support the team for the whole of the game because even with only 8 minutes to go plus stoppage time we could still score. I don't care if the manager is King, Dowson, Feeney or Fred from down the road get behind our team.

James Dunnes interview is correct in admitting we are in trouble and ultimately only the players can dig us out but we must be the 12th man and support them.

Now that Steve King is manager at Gloucester I think he was there last night looking at Taunton players. The team he built for Welling United was the very best I've seen in my time supporting the club but it to was very expensive and ultimately failed. He has a record of not quite succeeding as he didn't at Dartford either but does spend a lot of money wherever he manages and if you spend big and miss out or spend small and just stay up we are all still in National League South the next season. Again Steve King had his critics but he is approachable and did what he thought best. Football is a rollercoaster, full of ups and downs, a game of opinions this will never change and that's why we love it. As I've said before we all want the same thing. Welling to stay up and play entertaining football we just can't agree on the best way to achieve it.

Alex Ferguson was arrogant because he was Alex Ferguson, Warren Feeney is not and will never be anywhere near him as a manager - fact. You say you want WF to stay because instability brings about negative results, please tell me how things could get even worse? Anything would be better than we have now. Since the New Year we have played all of the bottom six, our record is 2 draws, 4 losses and 0 wins. That's a disgrace. I actually think the fans did very well to keep quiet until the goal went in and after that and the absolute shambles that occured at FT I think it is the least that the coaching team deserved. I support Welling United FC and I will always support what I deem to be in its best interest. Blind support for a manager that will take us down is not in the clubs best interests and as much as you try to tell people otherwise, Alan, without change we could very very easily be playing Isthmian league football next season and it would be exactly what we deserve. It shouldn't have been like this but incompetence both on and off the pitch has led us to this diabolical situation. We are a complete laughing stock.

On another note, I would also like to ask what WUSA is doing about this? The fans have a representative on the board and as much as I appreciate he has no say in any decisions being made I would like to think our views are being put across to those in charge. Maybe an independent statement by WUSA could be put out outlining supporter views and condemning the horrible scenes at the end of the game last night. I hadn't heard of Jayke Winchester before a couple of weeks ago, but if he is anywhere near the dugout on Saturday I will not return to the club until he is gone. It is ridiculous that a thug like him is anywhere near PVR, if he was anyone else he would've received a stadium ban!

That ex-players picture is still over the entrance with Brad Goldberg and Adam Coombes.

Yea well he's a friend of mine so didn't wish to disclose

Well there were many others who think this is a terrible Welling team, with a manager up there with the worst. Another ex-Welling player at the game was of the same opinion.

Excellent post COYW. The fella in the dugout with the White socks reminded me of a Sunday league manager acting like a Sunday league thug. Is that what we have let this great club become under this manager/owner?

Alan, whilst i respect your right to your opinion. Wake up and smell the coffee before its too late.

Unfortunately I don't think wusa is what I would consider to be a traditional supporters club. It's almost club governed and thus is reflected by the roles the chair plays. I don't want to be critical as I know there are genuine people in it that care and do more than i ever could for the club however it isn't going to stick its head over the trenches imo.

Goldberg once said steve King never cared about welling.  I didn't want to believe it.  However on reflection that was one of the most truthful admissions he ever made.  King does what he needs to 1) ensure he is employable 2) be successful.  However he and other managers have been much more capable at playing the role of club spokesman, engaging with fans whether that was supported by results or not.

Even when mg was irked he made the odd jibe In retaliation but not to the extents of late

Make no mistake feeney isn't invested in welling. This will continue until the next meal ticket comes along.

Dipo's progress didn't have much to do with Peter Taylor, more a case Dipo hadn't scored much early on, then the penny dropped with him he needed to improve himself to fulfil his potential, so he went off on his own initiative to improve his fitness, in addition to his training with Welling, then got the rewards for his hard work.

He scored 16 for us in the league, which was great for him as he had to create his own chances without many assists, Ade is on 14 this season, which is great as he also pretty much has to create his goals, and Ade in attack and Myles in goal have pretty much kept us afloat.

Alan, your priority on stability and loyalty is admirable, but really misguided in this particular case. There is a much bigger picture than the loyalty you are looking at, which is how the person you are loyal to is performing, ie their results and their progress. As I pointed out 9 of the 24 players we started the season have already gone, there wasn't much loyalty or stability there, this is a selfish game, where everyone is out for themself. It has been said here that players are mercenaries. I didn't agree with that, but as time goes on you realise how true it is.

As we often see, the manager will throw anyone under a bus, as he is just trying to save his own skin. So I don't get why you are loyal to a guy who has no loyalty to the players who work so hard for the team. It is sad, it is hard imagining many players here will want a new season with him, so will leave if he is kept on. They will be too smart to say it is because they have no faith in the manager, so will come up with all sorts of reasons like our changing rooms are substandard, or the pitch isn't good enough, whereas the real reason is they dont want to play again for this waster, but know if they publicly criticise a manager they will be seen as a troublemaker, so it is safest not to. None of the players look as though they are enjoying this, which is sad, they deserve better. People say he is nice to talk with, and he is, but the moment one disagrees with him, or finds fault to him, that is when you see the real person who cant handle anything challenging on or off the pitch.

So he's won 1 game in the last 12, at what point would you say he should be released Alan, what is the final straw? Mine came a few weeks ago when I thought this is crap, I keep seeing the guy make the same mistakes for 6 months on end, and he is too stubborn and lacking football intelligence to see what needs to change, so will get us relegated. But in your view what does he have to do to deserve be sacked? Keep him on after relegation and hope he can get us back up? Sack him if we are relegated?

If Feeney takes us down with this budget he will be the worst manager in the history of the National League South, and by extension our board will be the most stupid.

I found it incredible that Jayke Winchester was in the dugout considering he is not part of the coaching team . But he was then warned by the match referee about his conduct in the second  half before the disgraceful scenes at the end of the game. Apparently he was also involved in an incident at Ebbsfleet. Feeney himself is alleged to have threatened a supporter, this coming weeks after he was verbal with another fan. This culture of thuggish behaviour is as credible a reason for sacking Feeney as the results and if the threat of violence is correct its considered gross misconduct in any workplace.

I can't believe that our brilliant new sponsors this season would want to be associated with this?

The club posting on social media platforms advertising our next game and seem to have no intent on addressing the scenes at full time on Tuesday night. Goes to show what they think of the fans in my opinion. Absolutely no chance Ill be there Saturday, Id encourage others to boycott until they start listening to fans rather than try to fight them!

It is asked of me how can it get any worse? The answer relegation.

Yes, I think Warren Feeney is the man for the job, as we all did at the end of last season. I haven't hidden that fact. Let's park that for a moment though because that isn't the point I've been trying to make.

This is my point. Regardless of who the manager is we should support the 11 eleven players for the entirety of the match because we need to encourage them to be the best they can. Especially players having a bad game. Try to lift them even if you don't rate them.

I think peaceful non violent protests at the final whistle are acceptable as too are boycotting games because fan points and views should be taken into account and nothing speaks volumes like falling attendances.

I have called for the club, Warren Feeney and WUSA to make statements on my facebook page because I think communication is good and fighting bad. I want them to share their thoughts and views and explain their vision of what the future looks like for Welling United.
The pre-season view of mid table was sensible, realistic and truthful. No way is the club ready for the National League we could lose every single game. But neither should we be in a relegation dogfight.

Now if we agree relegation is the worst thing then my view is we have a pretty strong defence and Adeez is scoring goals, Maloney is creative and we are only losing narrowly. These are fine margins so I think things can be tweaked to get us over the line. I know we have lost to poor teams but don't forget since Christmas we have beaten Tonbridge twice and won away at Chelmsford and Slough. Our away form is better so I believe somewhere we will get the points. I know you don't so and think under a new manager we would get the points. Honestly, I don't know for sure one way or the other if I'm right or you are. But do you know for sure either?

Asked when I would change a manager my answer would be at the end of a season or at the very worst around Christmas/January. My ideal is a 3 year cycle. Fix, stabilise, achieve. At the end of the season I think we should have a reset and decide who is the right person to manage the club. I also think there is a wider choice of managers during the summer.

Warren Feeney or a new manager in the last 8 games what I really want to see is everyone cheering the team to get the points we need to stay up. Once that is achieved then debate what next. Playing in such a toxic atmosphere must be difficult for the players and it surely can't be helping them to play well and win games.
