I will give him time. If you read the opening line of my comments. I did say I hope we have the same manager next season and a core of the players too. That builds stability. I would give Danny Bloor all of this season and until at least Christmas 2024 before I even contemplated changing the manager.

All I'm saying is so far it isn't good enough. It isn't just one game it is the fact we have only won 1 game out of 7 albeit friendlies and that shouldn't be glossed over. We should beat Beckenham Town and we did, just. But we should also be beating Cray Wanderers and Dulwich Hamlet.

I just think this squad is worse than last season and I really believe we will be borderline staying in the division. But changing the manager now? No, no way, at some point the club and the fans have to put their faith in one manager. Give them adequate time and see it through. I will support Danny Bloor and the team 100%. I won't boo or jeer him or the team. I believe that is pointless and counter productive. What we all say on here is between the fans, a matter of opinion and sharing our views and concerns. All I've said is from what I've seen so far I'm worried. If the board feel Danny Bloor is the right man for the job then I will support that decision. We all want Welling United to do well and be successful.

I remember one pre season in the mid-nineties where we won 5 games in a row and played like Barcelona. First league game we smashed the ball into orbit and proceeded to lose our first five games!

I wasn't expecting much at Truro but I also wasn't expecting such a heavy defeat.  However I trust a bloke with years of experience and a good track record at this level, along with a strong backroom team, to get things right in time and I won't over react one way or another after one competitive match!

We do need some stability and changing managers year on year is not a recipe for success. However I believe we now have a good man in charge that can hopefully unite the football club on and off the pitch.

Up the Wings!

Bloody hell, Alan has put pressure on the Hemel match on Saturday, if we lose I predict Alan will storm into the press box, grab Nigel's microphone, and start singing over the PA, "We want Feeney back, we said we want Feeney back!"

If Alan does try to do that, he will be very confused. Nigel doesn't sit in the press box.

Far from it. Everyone is missing my point here.

I want Danny Bloor to stay as manager for at least 18 months, hopefully longer. He is our current manager in charge of our current squad and I will be backing him, the players and the board 100%. I support Welling United I want to see them do well, succeed, have stability and grow as a football club. That takes time. I have always said you can't change the manager every season and start from scratch.

Whatever managers we've had in the past, whether you liked or disliked them, is irrelevant. It's history, it's now that counts.

I don't think pre-season should be discounted because that is the time to gell the squad in preparation for the season proper. Winning is a habit and builds confidence and a winning mentality. I don't think there really is such a thing as a 'friendly'. I do understand it's the proper competitive games that really count but I don't think it should be taken lightly.

In a forum for fans I'm just expressing my concerns. There were basic errors made in team selection last Saturday, we were outplayed. Second half, yes, we improved but Truro took their foot off the gas. I accept Danny Bloor's management style may be laid back and he feels he has done his job during training in the week. It isn't a style I particularly like, but it is what we have. I prefer an Arteta or Klopp who wear their heart on their sleeve. Coaching constantly, behaving like a fan would. Demonstrating passion. Maybe, this new approach will work. I hope it does and we finally have a long term manager.

So, if we lose on Saturday or indeed every game until Christmas (I hope not) I won't be calling for a sacking because I don't want to keep scraping plans and starting all over again.

How anyone can draw conclusions from pre-season games is beyond a joke - half the time the squad is stuffed with trialists and academy players, and I'd hazard a guess that if we look at Bloor's preferred first team by mid-late September and compare it those that played against the likes of Beckenham it will be at least half different in terms of personnel. If you wanted an example of the irrelevance of pre-season Arsenal's Invincibles had a **** pre-season that involved losing 1-0 to Peterborough in their last game, before going 38 games unbeaten. Nobody cares - there are endless substitutions, no edge to the game, nothing at stake - they are all false results. Its an exercise in fitness and familiarisation - not to mention an awful watch, which is why I never go

If we're still getting rinsed deep into September I'll start being concerned, but I sure as hell won't give a stuff that we only beat Beckenham Town 3-2

I have always regarded pre season as two contrasting things. First is to give the manager a chance to see how players react in a game situation and how they would fit in with his plans. Second to get some much needed finances into clubs after being dormant for a couple of months Charlton coming to us gives us a few quid and Welling going to Beckenham or The Wands gives them a boost. As far as pre season results go I am firmly of the opinion of I dont worry.

At the end of the day we lost our first game of the season by 3 goals against a much more settled team. It looks like some fans here don't yet see what a challenge the opening matches are, last Saturday Danny will have seen 13 of our players, but we have a squad of around 27, so there are 14 more players he has yet to see, so it will take months until our regular starting team is clear. I'd be surprised if we didnt lose or draw most of our early games, as many other teams have a big head start experience over us, but then we will catch up on them. A time for patience.

One of my favourite Welling vids last season was the one of their first training session. It was funny, as the players didnt know each other, so it was so subdued. And they were so unfit after a break. This new season feels different, hardly any break, so gelling, lots of hard work looking at tons of potential new signings, and we have fitness as a result. Most goals we conceded at Truro were just because we weren't sharp on the day, so not tackling or closing down quickly enough, but hopefully the team have realised that, and I predict a 2 - 0 or 2 - 1 win for us on Saturday. Anything can happen in football, we may even win 5 - 2! Then Alan can say he never doubted Danny for a minute!

Hemel Hempstead IMO will be a better team than Truro. Cannot see us getting anything from this game. I hope I am wrong.

I hope this is to wind up 'our jimmie' here. If we don't expect anything from this game then where do we expect it from?

Sounds like last season already...

Morning folks, I am still concerned about raging Alan grabbing Nigel's microphone. I swear Alan always gets things the wrong way round, as he was Warren's loyal defender despite 5 wins in 5 months, and he criticises Danny's team selection, management style and says the team are embarrassing.

This is the same Alan who said "Whoever the new manager turns out to be I will support him as I know he will be trying to do his best for the club. I urge my fellow fans to do the same. If things don't go right from the start let's give him time. Stand behind him and support him." I am sure Danny values Alan's patience and loyal support!

Riverstown and me are head to head in battle of the Welling pundits, it will be dreadful if Hemel win tomorrow, as we'll have lost the match, and Riverstown will have finally got something right in his disagreements with me! Come on you Wings! Don't let Riverstown be right! And don't let raging Alan go mad!

I did state IMO. I couldnt care less what Johnny Hartley thinks. He doesnt need winding up he does that to himself.

Brad Quinton has had a scout at all our home PSFs so he will be aware of our players (scout always came into shop for team sheet)
