Wheres the youth thing they promised us? Wheres the end of season stuff, Why dont we get any statements from the staff, or player interviews on there. Or the Hobbins making announcements? Where is details of Season DVD?
Is anyone else hoping the Official Site improves next season. I am hoping that the Editorial and Content is provided by the Club. The Person who updates it does so in juvenile ways (no offence). Surely the Club can ghost write the site and let the lad update it technically?
Wake up Official Site. Sure it looks ok but its weak in content and needs a lot of work.
I am sure more players have been released or Friendlies have been arranged.
Anonymous (1st), I don't think that the official site was too bad until the latter part of the season which of course was exactly the time when all fans were looking for information. I suspect the webmaster is sent copies of all Club press releases and that he works from them and the odd phone call. It is certainly infuriating when you read information in the local rags before it appears on the site.
As for anonymous (2nd) comment regarding WIE having more problems I have to say that it has certainly lost its fanzine approach this season and has effectively limited itself to live text updates on match days and reports on most of the games.
I have no idea of Russ' circumstances but it has to be said that running an unofficial website does eat into the webmasters leisure and/or family time so those being run by one person can be subject to fluctuations. Changing commitments can have a significant impact too in terms of how much time can be devoted to the website and thus what it is possible to publish.
Drawing direct comparisons between the sites is a bit like comparing apples and pears, they are both fruit but they are not the same. The Official site and WIE are both Welling United sites but they are differ in that one is Club led and the other is supporter led.
Anonymous (1st), the situation regarding friendlies as far as I know is 15 July Herne Bay AWAY 22 July Grays HOME
Dates to be arranged Charlton HOME Erith Town AWAY Folkestone AWAY
Anonymous (1st), As I put in an earlier post adding those contracted to the seven named in this weeks local rag as players Ade wants to keep and Bods, if the move to Gillingham does not happen, accounts for all of the remaining squad. Nobody has posted offering anything to contradict what I believe to be the situation. As far as the seven not yet contracted who Ade wants to keep goes they are out of contract and free agents so they may choose to leave PVR for pastures new but unless they do I believe that the only player information will be about signings.

What is missing? From what I have seen there has never been anything I have read in the local rag that hasn’t been on the site too. Plus I’m sure the local rag pays a fulltime journalist whilst I very much doubt the club pay a fulltime website journalist.
Like he said you love to criticise but very rarely praise.
Get off the mans back or do your own thing as its been said its very easy to put down people who give up there own time to do these web sites and forums.
Lay off them or we end up with people getting pee off (very good watching my language) and stopping them and walking away.
It is sad that both anonymous posters have taken my comments as negative since the only criticism contained in my posting was that information has been gleaned from the local rag before it was posted on the official website and that is a matter of fact. I did not say that there was anything missing. I would add that I have on several occasions privately emailed the webmaster James offering feedback and about errors purely in an effort to be constructive and supportive of his site.
My observation about WIE was not critical but a pure statement of fact.
Anonymous 2 said Plus I'm sure the local rag pays a fulltime journalist whilst I very much doubt the club pay a fulltime website journalist. My posting acknowledged the fact that webmasters of unofficial sites do so at the cost of leisure/family time and that has a significant impact on the amount of time which can be devoted to the website and what is published. The situation regarding the official site is somewhat different in that I understand that James is paid by the club and the time spent on the website cannot therefore be regarded as being at the cost of leisure/family time. I very much doubt that the local rags employ a full time journalist to cover Welling United and to meet printing deadlines they have to get their copy in days before the paper comes out so yes I would expect the official website to be able to publish news items ahead of the local rags.
Anonymous 1 said ... whilst from what I understand all you do is attend games. I fail to see the relevance of the comment about my only attending matches. Is it a prerequisite of being a supporter that you do more than attend matches? Can you only express an opinion if you do more than attend matches?
Anonymous 2 said Like he said you love to criticise but very rarely praise. I beg to differ on the matter of my postings and I believe if you bothered to read through them all not just selective posts you will find your accusation to be incorrect.
Summarising it is my view that whilst hiding behind the mask of anonymity you are attempting to create an anti websites/Club stance on my part which does not exist.

From what I remember reading in the Match Day Programme and this forum he is not paid by the club but is purely voluntary. It was one of the early programmes, Hayes or Dorchester at Home I think?
This argument all started from an idiotic posting to begin this thread.
There is a thread on this forum by team welling and I quote:
"James doesn't get paid for the official site it says in yesterday's programme that james doesn't get paid for doing the official website and it is done on a voluntary basis and all money raised for advertising on the site goes towards paying for the hosting."
In my opinion sometimes we should just sit back and think how much effort goes into these websites and forums and give them all some praise.
Ive heard otherwise. Substantial "Sponsorship" of the website, I think that covers more than the 30 pounds or so hosting per year. And thats all it would cost.
Plus of course he gets a platform to sell his DVD films etc. We have seen a link to a club shop on the site for a year, where is it?
It does say there will be a youth page soon. There is no End of season debriefing from the club or Ade, Infact nothing since the final game. The content is poor. And it isnt voluntary,
He makes enough out of it. I really think the bedpost owner gave him 30 quid for hosting and James gives all the DVD money to the club. NOT!
If it deserves a bit or critique then so be it, i do not think it is that good and could be improved, if the lad is unable to do a good job, get helpers to do the editorial to give it substance and content. Hes a boy writing for adults and fails. The club are missing a trick. PS Bruno i think spud was having a go AT you not telling the anons to leave you alone.
End of season stuff, a review, looking back, highlights, down moments, comment from the club on how they saw it. Interviews? Anything, It seems the boy just shut the site when the final whistle blew.
If anyone thinks that the site is good and upto date they are sadly wrong. The Newspapers do publish before the Official Site (Which is basically Wellingonline still).
Plenty of people have said its poor this season, it seems only if you are attatched to the club you can say its fantastic and voluntary, PS is the WSU site gone?
This all seems to be speculation rather than fact but I suppose we will never know.
I think the content is fine, like I have always said the "early stuff" was poor. I believe you are being far too critical, and a lot is the fault of the club. If they want to provide us with an insight e.g. debriefing then I'm sure they would, but we all know what the hobbits are like, I very much doubt they care.
Also there has been very little news since the season has ended. The only real news other than rumours has been the released players and that's it! They publish before the official site because they are Newspaper publication with full time workers updating the website, I very much doubt James runs the website all hours of the day.
WIE and the Official site have great content, reports, interviews, video highlights! How many websites do you know that do all this, just look at Yeading, Histon, Bognor etc, we could be far worse off!
