Great news, really looking forward to it. When I renewed my season ticket I asked lots of questions to catch up with what was going on, and one was when was the next meet the manager evening, and was told that wasn't going to happen. Bearing in mind this was pre-Danny, it wasn't a surprise, as by then all had seen through the manager, so any meeting with him would have been fireworks. Great the new atmosphere with Danny, where fan engagement is so open and positive. If anyone reading hasn't been to one of these, it is definitely a highlight to attend, last year was my first one, and it helped me realise just how complicated and challenging running a club is, and helps one understand the people running it. Just a couple of suggestions:
Can it be emphasised from the start it is open to all fans, not just WUSA, it took time for that to be clear last time.
Could WUSA membership forms be available on the evening and make it a bit of a recruitment event, no doubt quite a few non WUSA members will attend, so if it is easy for them to join on the evening that rewards WUSA for setting this up.
Could Paul Whitehead or Gary Fiore, or maybe both, be there also answering questions, as it was so helpful having Paul answering questions last year, and with things like ground development updates of interest it would be handy to have the board available for questions.
The " Meet the Manager" evenings have been held for a large number of years and generally they have been an opportunity for fans(not just WUSA members) to quiz the Manager on playing issues, selection, tactics, expectations, etc. Perhaps the presentation of future club policy/direction with members of the board answering questions should be a separate event.
Clearly it would be useful to know what is planned for the future of our club but this evening should concentrate on the playing and managerial side of the club in my opinion.

WUSA only meetings are advertised to WUSA members only. Anything posted on public access sites including here and clubs social media is for everyone.
WUSA membership is always advertised at fans meetings and membership forms will be available as usual.

Meet the manager should be just that. I would rather there was a separate event to provide details of what is going on behind the scene. I would rather that it was Danny and members of his management team.

When I renewed my season ticket I asked if a meet the manager was going to be held, and was firmly told there were no plans. That wasn't a total surprise, as our unpopular previous manager was then still in post, so any meeting with fans would have been explosive. It is really impressive Danny is holding this meet the manager at this particular time, as he could easily have avoided delaying holding one to keep to a low profile while we are in the relegation zone, and then face the fans once we have got out of the current tricky situation.
I knew Danny had led Eastbourne to 3 top 8 finishes in a row, but only found out yesterday that his first season was a bit of a different story, as he took over that job in November (a late appointment, just as has happened with us at Welling) and finished fifth from bottom. So that is handy for us, as he has the experience of successfully navigating a relegation battle.
When we played Havant they were under pressure of poor results, and their manager looked like a dead man walking, I noticed his players and club officials acted as though he was invisible, and he had a ghostly air of defeat about him. I am interested in Steve King, as one of the three top managers in our division with a consistent record of high finishes (Danny, Dowson and King). King has taken over at Havant, and it is amazing to see how concerned stressed and downbeat he is in his latest interview, as we are on 12 points, 4 from safety, very sound defensively, and just need to fix our attack, whereas his team are on 6 points, 10 points from safety, with poor defence and attack and he looks shellshocked at the size of the challenge of trying to turn that round and quite possibly realising as things stand his team arent good enough to stay up. www.youtube.com/watch
The relevance of the last para is that the manager Steve King is answering questions as a manager of a relegation spot team, and that is also the case with Danny at present in the meet the manager meeting, but it is interesting to see the contrast of how different their responses to their situations are.
It is not rambling, it is comparing how different managers deal with relegation battles and the limitations of their squads that lead to that position.
Last year I was a bit pissed at the meet the manager evening, so lost track of the question I was trying to ask, but this year I only have one question I particularly want to ask, about who signs the players, and have cut out drink, so no rambling questions from me!
I'm a sad old git and have been analysing this topic page, in other words, doing a Jimmie on Jimmie.
Through his words, WUSA Membership forms, Directors attendance, ground development, buying a season ticket, previous manager, Eastbourne, Havant, Steve King and Dowson are raised. IMO nothing to do with "meet the manager". Be it J R Hartley or Jimmie, IMO this is all unnecessary "wrapping paper", none of which is relevant to the duties of our current manager.

Bexleylion, you have a chip on your shoulder about me, and predictably never miss an opportunity to slag me off, so that is fine, carry on being a sad old git. IMO the off the pitch issues that affect the player budget and the team we can afford to put out are as important as what happens on the pitch, and worth talking about. And if you want to pick this apart too, feel free, though personally I hope you have better things to do with your time.
The meet the manager is a great initiative, if by any chance there is anyone reading this who hasn't yet been to one it is definitely highly recommended, as one learns so much about the club and the manager that one can't really get any other way.
Jimmie for information. An "initiative " is defined as a new plan to achieve something or solve a problem.
Thanks to WUSA Meet the Manager evenings have been held for decades with the intention of discovering more about the management of the team in terms of players, transfer policy, tactics etc. I look forward to comments from those attending tonight's event in due course.

It was very apparent that Danny Bloor and his coaches are dedicated to Welling Utd and also implementing their style of play. They have had enormous difficulties putting the squad together on the limited budget. They are actively seeking players especially striking options that will improve the squad but again they are hamstrung by the finances. However due to the attractive style of play they are getting players interested in joining. Quite a few setbacks Re the Dickenson injury and Vaughan deciding to go elsewhere. White has a long standing hamstring problem hence his stop start playing time. The main thing that gobsmacked me was we are scratching around week in week out for training facilities due to most venues being fully booked up all season. I would like to thank Danny and his coaches,Gary Fiore and Sian for their honesty tonight.
Thought tonight was great insight, Bloor and his team were completely transparent about everything. I respect the honesty, agree about the training comments is concerning we cant find somewhere that suits our needs. Think its pretty clear to see we just need to stay up this season. Id like Bloor to be here for years personally, like he said tonight does feel like we are all together, seems like we finally have someone who genuinely cares about the club
