They are a very effective team, they score around 2 a game, concede around 1 a game, 6 players with 5 or more league goals, and 8 points clear at the top with games in hand, so likely to soon be a Second Division team, so by far our biggest challenge so far this season. Like we know how good Ebbsfleet were last season, this team are 31 points above Ebbsfleet this season! But we have played two National league teams with Danny, and matched them very well in close games, and improved since those games.
I wouldn't predict this one, but it is great it is at home, and Danny will learn a lot about his players from this match.
Just as a special seasonal treat for Two ells in Welling and Wallop here is an interesting stat, stolen from someone who made this point on Twitter, that I was unaware of until it was pointed out:
since September we have only lost 1 home game.
I checked the results, and it is true, oh yes it is, September onwards league and cup P10 W5 D4 L1. The Wings are flying!
Will there be a live feed to watch the game on WingsTV or is that highlights only? I'm a Wing living in Newcastle and my best mate supports Chesterfield so would like to watch without travelling 600 miles!

Comes under rules about 3 p.m. kick offs not being on the box.

Chesterfield, like many National League teams, are not interested in the FA Trophy. Unless of course they reach the final.
Their last Trophy match they had 2,000 compared to recent 8k+ crowds and that was with tickets reduced to £10! They also played young players and their fans messageboard proves the point - not bothered as the league is a priority. Total understandable and I suppose it's how we view county cups.
Will hopefully get a good local turnout and for us a chance to progress.
CFC supporter here in peace ..
I would like to see a strong team every game but the likelihood is a repetition of the previous round, ie a bunch of fringe players mixed with lads from the Academy.
The club is desperate to get back to where it belongs and that is the main aim. Secondly, there is some decent money for progressing in the FAC. This is why a strong team was put out to beat two League One opponents.
Unfortunately, this year the FAT is widely regarded as a distraction.
No offence but 400 miles on the road isnt an enticing prospect and any winnings are hardly going to cover an assumed overnight for over 20 people.
I hope it is still a good game but think this is your chance, so good on you if you take it.
Hope you pick up in the league as well.
Cheers.
We really need to get the local area behind us in this one as Gary indicated. I would love a massive turnout from all our Academy teams plus our under 23 and womens squads. Make a bit of a carnival atmosphere if possible. Free face painting for kids in red and white. Easbourne impressed me at Langley with a singer outside pre match so possibly someone busking in the marquee. (I will suggest this to our CEO on Saturday if she has a second to spare). Posters in business premisis and leaflet drops around the catchment area. However it will be upto each and every one of us to do our bit to get a fantastic crowd behind the team and not leave it to the merry few who turn up every time something is required.

Thank you "Friendly Spireite" and can perfectly understand your club's priority. We have a similar priority but at the other end of the table! However I hope the game does attract a large crowd as it will be a fantastic opportunity for our lads to pit their skills against a high calibre side irrespective of how many regular players appear. Hopefully the weather allows a Saturday fixture. and you can bring along decent numbers to a friendly. if "old fashioned" non league ground.
Good luck in securing the title and returning to League Two football.
Hello Friendly Spireite, we think this is the first ever meeting between our clubs so a warm welcome to the travelling Spireites. Seem to recall watching you play a few years back at our near neighbours, Charlton (probably in League One).
The team you put out against Southport last week looked impressive and showed the talent in your squad & academy.
Plenty of games for both Welling and Chesterfield in January and from 6th - 27th we've got five games scheduled and you've got seven.
QED?l
Thank god for google.
Very educated FS.
We are all a happy bunch, just that opening gambit by anyone just grates on me.
Hope you smash the National League.
You deserve it
Thank you. There are some diehards plus a contingent of southern exiles who might be there but to be honest some might be put off by the team selection. Around the club there appears to be an ambivalent attitude to this competition. Sounds a bit disrespectful to other clubs but there has been a considerable investment towards the one principal target, so understandable.
This is a photo of a non league stadium ( if it works ).

Nice picture FS. This is almost a carbon copy of our stadium although ours has got a bit more red in it. Our pitch is in better 'nick' though, especially the 6 yard box. We expect a minimum of 500 Spireites for this game.
Seriously, it does take a bit of getting used to seeing 'non league' clubs like Chesterfield, Southend, Oldham, Rochdale, etc.
You will hopefully follow in the footsteps of Notts County, Wrexham, Leyton Orient, etc.
SP was a bit of a journeyman, wasnt he.
He didnt do a lot at CFC, only scored once, then was on his way again so a bit difficult to judge.
I see he scored a few more at Welling.
I had a bit of an epiphany about Welling and the fans as a result of this thread so far, as Friendlyspireite's comment about miserable gits on this forum initially made me think of certain posters who could match that description, one of whom even proudly gives himself that description!
But thinking about it more, I realised, for the first time, that the so called toxicity of this forum, isn't that at all, it is just that Welling fans are often so incredibly direct in their views, so cut out polite filter, and get straight to the heart of the issue. And that is great, you know where you stand with people who are straightforward, it's the people who dont say what they think that are the problem.
I had a look at the Chesterfield fan forum, and it is so nice and friendly! Almost TOO nice and friendly, from a Welling direct perspective! But that is the great thing about Welling fans, so knowledgeable and experienced they can see through lies and excuses.
I think this forum might be as friendly as the Chesterfield one if we were top of the national league, in the FA cup third round, getting 8,000 crowds and in the Trophy.
Gary, this made me smile wryly when I saw it on their fans forum, after setting a record of scoring in the first 22 games of a league season a fan say
"First of many records I think will fall this year. Can see the following being beaten
- most league points
- most home wins
- most away wins
- goal difference
- goals scored"
Problems are all relative, so we are worried about relegation, they are worried about how many of the above records they will break!
The come in peace makes me smile, as no team comes in peace, really they all want the points or the place in the next round!
But we have shown we can rise to an occasion, as long as it is not against a relegation rival, so there is always hope against Chesterfield! And I am really pleased for the long term fans, as our cup successes have brought us up against Brackley and Chesterfield, who I dont think we have played before, so that is pleasing.
I doubt that they will play their first team, especially if they draw with Watford in the FA Cup and have a replay pending.
We have got a decent chance tomorrow. Chesterfield are still favourites to win, but not by a country mile.
Our first team against Chesterfield academy (with a few squad players thrown in) at PVR. If we mean business and the whole team puts in the effort, we can progress.
The Chesterfield score predictions vary wildly. Some have Town to win comfortably but some have us to win by a few goals. Penalties, third time on the spin?
Should see maybe 100 Spireites at the game. Another ground to add to the list.
It would be great to win this & then freeze our nuts off in Hants on Tuesday night whilst picking up three points down there.
Danny's going to Wembley, his knees have gone all trembly.
Great suggestion regarding this trophy and the interest shown at some levels, on the Chesterfield site.
How about the winners getting a by into a certain level of the FA Cup.
