Just for clarification from Danny himself, he asked Garry Fiore to join him on the bench yesterday as a member of the coaching staff would be absent from yesterday's game.

There's none of Danny being a front man or Garry choosing to get involved. He was asked to help by the manager.

Strange atmosphere on here the last 24 hours, you wouldn't have thought we would have won yesterday!

Joe Ellul was helping out yesterday as well and was in the bar after the game. Its a cracking signing for me, a horrible centre half to play against, something we've been missing. Hopefully there's a fee more changes this week, as we still badly need a goalscorer

You absolutely nail it with that sentence.

Pretty much word for word what I said to my son after also hearing this.

Hi everyone. I am unable to attend as many games as i would like so i cannot comment on many of the observations on here.

However with regard to Garry Fiore, i can confirm that Garry has no desire whatsoever to be Manager or Assistant Manager. I can only assume he was helping out yesterday.

Garry is a good friend of mine which is how I know this and also has his hands full in his current role

With regard to the Manager, i really do hope he can turn our results around as a couple of wins will certainly give us hope for the rest of the season

Huge week coming up for the club.

Who knows, perhaps rhis season will see mid table finish and Wembley appearance!!

I had very good telephone conversations last night with Danny Bloor and Gary Fiore so i think some clarification is needed, as Polo has said before, Gary Fiore was there as support for Danny. There is 100% no ulterior motive, Danny hasn't been undermined and has the full support of the Director of Football. Surely its best to have someone on the bench who is fully qualified with the relevant coaching badges isn't it..?. We are in trouble in the National League so it's all hands on deck as far as I'm concerned. Yesterday was a good result ( you can only play whats in front of you), we're through to the last 16 and hopefully we can gain confidence from that and take it into Tuesday night

I was impressed by the very honest interview with their academy manager. At least one of their fans was questioning whether we were upset paying £15 to play their academy side. Personally, I'd take the win, prize money and a place in the last 16 any day..

I would very quickly swap the last 16 for some points in the league

Polo. Lou Rob. Nigel posts hopefully clear up any worries regarding Fiore being on bench yesterday.
Lets move on and hope this poor season so far gets better.

My god, after all the misplaced outrage about Gary Fiore, I swear the award for the calmest poster now on this here forum goes to... the voice of reason... Wallop!

But this is all proof of the value of the forum, where misunderstandings like that can be resolved, before we played Aveley I was looking for their fan forum to see what they were thinking ahead of playing us, and they dont seem to have one, so it is great we have our forum for conversational therapy to recover from the stress of supporting Welling.

Watching Chesterfield, they seemed strangely familiar, reminding me of our seasonal start, solid defence and midfield, just lacking equally effective strikers. Good to see our two strikers each getting a goal.

Thanks to everyone for clarifying. Great news for the club that this was Dannys choice.

If this is true it is utter incompetence and they should be no where near our football club!

We played really well against Chesterfield with some neat passing football. You can only beat the team put in front of you. It is nice to be in the last 16 of the FA Trophy. A trip to Wembley would be great. We must take this performance, attitude, commitment and effort in to our remaining league matches.

Verdict: a pleasure to watch this match
