To summarise we were poor first half . They scored two and I didn't expect us to get anything. We battled back in 2nd half and showed some character to get something from the game. is that enough??? I am not sure it is though I still see some real positives in our team.

Sonny Fish worked his socks off and was my MoM. Great finish from Adigun for the opener. Elllul wasnt my POTM vote, but nonetheless wasnt a million miles off. However, his age gets the better of him. Coming up for every corner, then tracking back, leaves us open. Would like to see Ellull as out and out solid lump returning defensive clearance into attack. A lot of positives to take from the game, but after being 0-2 down, wished that substitutions had happened sooner. Still a positive new team effort, and at 8/1 the draw at H/T, happy. All the best Wallop.

By my reckoning we have 7 strikers in the squad? Why not get rid of 4 or 5 of them, and sign an out and out number 9 who is going to bang 10 goals in between now and the end of the season?
I hope Reece Grant makes me eat my words, but 1 goal in 10 last year, 5 in 30 last year, we desperately need a goalscorer but we keep signing players who will chip in with the odd goal inside of natural strikers.
Tough 2 games coming up.

Glad we drew but we huffed and puffed for most of the game and were our own worst enemy in going 2 down. The biggest difference with stringer seems to be going more direct but I still think we struggle to create or have a go. Result when we did yday were the two goals.
Reinforcements were required but kind of sad to see almost a completely new team each game at moment and as polo said so many forwards now who will be the preferred 2/3/4.
Think this as well as change of system could be problematic. Felt baby stepping into it for hampton game is what got us over the line.
Manager indicated two likely to go assuming that is bramble poss white?
I thought we were poor 1st half, very sloppy in a scruffy match went 2-0 down by half time. To the team's credit they battled back in the 2nd half and earned a hard fought draw which could have been a win with another 10 minutes. We are chipping away and picking up points in what I see as a very difficult ask. Doing all we can and harder to beat. The referee was dreadful.
Verdict: Hoping for the best and keeping everything crossed.
Normally after coming from 2 down to salvage a draw in injury time would have me buzzing but, like the Dartford away game, I still felt a little flat at the final whistle.
I was expecting a faster, more aggressive start from us. Perhaps we were getting used to the new formation (which I thought was a good idea) but some players didn't seem to know what roles they were playing. Also, if we have got three big centre halves on the field, then stop the short corners and get the ball in the box. The first time we did we had a header cleared off the line..?! The less said about the two goals we conceded the better but we can't afford to give the ball away so cheaply.
The second half was better although Tonbridge didn't help themselves by sitting back. At least there was some desire and two well taken goals but, like Taunton, this was a good chance to get three points but, ultimately, we didn't. As for the new lads I wad the overly impressed with the Colchester lad but he needs time to settle in. I was impressed with the work rate of Fish but he was too far from their goal too often for me. The one time he got in the six yard box and, hey presto, he scores!! We need to keep him higher up the pitch and get people around him. Star of the show for me was undoubtedly Adigun - one goal (nearly two) and one assist. Sometimes he tries to maybe do too much but we need to get him on the ball as much as possible in the right areas.
It's hard to get a new team with loan players to gel quickly but that's the hand we have and we need to cut out the concession of soft goals. Two very tough games to come this week but we need to do our best to get something as time (and games) are running out.
I watched the match with my son who lives in Tonbridge, who last saw us in the game at their place (er, soon to be our place?!). I said at half time our lack of attacking play in the final third reflected our season so far. Our first half defending was disappointing, I watched from the Tonbridge end so my son could join fans singing, "I'm Tonbridge til I die" and so I could wind up their fans by cheering Welling on! So I'd an unusually good view of the goals they scored, we just made basic mistakes, didnt close down quickly enough, block shots by getting between them and our goal, or decisively clear the ball from our area.
Total transformation in the second half, hats off to Rod, he clearly fixed things wrong in the first half, and just weird it all turned round, they bossed the first half and we bossed the second half. That is Rob unbeaten in his first 3 league games. I'm not that confident about Tuesday's match against Worthing, but then I wasn't against Yeovil either, and that ended fab.
I popped into Danson Park for pre match footie training with my son, with the worlds heaviest light portable net, in the elegant rucksack! But I'll camp overnight on Fridays when we start playing at Tonbridge, I don't want to risk being unable to get a ticket due to the huge crowds we'll get there.
