Phew. A nail biting game but got the three points we deserved with the referee against us for a fair bit of the game.

Braintree looks a tough game ahead.
Up the wings.

Thought Pap didnt know where he should be in the first half.
Certainly was told at HT, and was my MoM for the second half.
As for the winner, that fell very nicely for him, and to come in off the post, had that orchestrated effect to boot.
6/1 Welling at HT, like buying money wasnt it?
They were a tall back 4, so to see low balls hit in was the only solution.
Well done Cameron.
Danny who? Love the chat from Rod throughout the game.

I was standing just besides E&B clubhouse. Our first goal looked like it crossed the goal line twice. It looked like it went in hit the back wall back out and was put in again. Can anyone confirm that. Or was I pissed again.

Im not sure it hit the back wall, but the first effort certainly looked over the line from my side angle!

Jason Adigun, what a player, we must try and extend his loan to end of the season. He really makes us tick.

Poor performance first half followed by a much improved second half. Saturday looks to be a tough game, lets keep this run going!

Just about got the job done. Truro were very physical and the ref let too much go and failed to get his book out for obvious yellow cards.

If we carry on showing the same heart and desire we will stay up!

It certainly wasnt a game for the purists. I dont think the ball was on the floor for more than 5 minutes in the 1st half. We were poor and didnt get to grips with their style of play at all. Definitely out battled in the midfield especially. 2nd half was much better although it was squeaky bum time for the last 10 minutes. Overall a wins a win. Makes up for the games earlier in the season where we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. The unbeaten run continues. Very very difficult game on Saturday against Braintree who are relentless at the moment. It would be lovely to get anything from that game.

The ultimate "game of two halves" last night!

A very lethargic first half. We nearly conceded in the first minute after a silly mistake and that was the catalyst for a poor first half. Credit to Truro who were sharper all over the pitch probably as a result of hardly playing much recently! Fortunately we were only one behind and the manager clearly got stuck into them at half time and we came out a different side. There's much more resilience and commitment in this group and they are prepared  to run that extra yard and we have attacking players who carry a threat and are prepared to work hard for the team. There were a number of individual mistakes defensively last night (which hasn't been the case lately) but we carried enough threat at the other end to win the game. Another good set piece from Cameron Green (as on Saturday) which led to a goal, a good team breakaway goal and a great finish by Paps for the winner. I am a little concerned about our strength in depth if we get more injuries/suspensions and that we appear to have a plethora of attacking midfielders but lack cover in other positions..??

A great win to keep the unbeaten run going and,  importantly, against a team in and around us in the table. However Saturday will be very tough - Braintree are on a run of seven consecutive wins and only conceded 2 goals over that period. However we should be confident in ourselves and the skipper retuning will be a boost as well. Credit to the management team as I,  like many other Welling fans, thought the fat lady was clearing her throat a month ago but things look a lot brighter now. Still a way to go but we have certainly given ourselves a good chance now of escaping the drop.

Up the Wings!

That one off match I saw at Bromley made me realise the importance of 1/2 touch passing, that's the core of successful sides. But also they were so focussed in passing the ball forwards, hardly any sideways or backwards passes, whereas less successful and less confident teams pass it sideways and backwards, which is really self destructive football, as it stops the ball from getting nearer the opponents goal, which one is supposed to be aiming to reach, and keeps the ball nearer to ones own goal, which helps the opposition, and risks interceptions near ones goal. Bromley were in the bottom 4 when I saw that match, but are now second in the table, so their 1/2 touch passing and focus on forward passing works for them.

If you look at the two goals we conceded against Tonbridge angels, both had unnecessary backward/ sideways passes from us that created the opportunities for them to intercept and score. The second goal in particular was bad as Sonny and Lachlan both had chances to pass the ball forward to unmarked players, but passed back and our passing got intercepted and a goal that cost us the win was scored by Tonbridge. www.youtube.com/watch

So in the first half of Truro game it was Chippenham bad, so much aimless passing backwards and sideways, and slow pace. Rod mentioned we played too deep the first half, but actually that was largely because we kept passing the ball backwards and sideways in our half, and just seemed to forget the idea is to get the ball as quickly as possible into the other half of the pitch. Lachlan in particular kept passing the ball backwards to the keeper or sideways in the first half.

We got this right in the second half, Lachlan suddenly doing most passes forward, and so did others. A great exciting second half. Just a shame there are only 5 home games to go, as it's been so enjoyable to see the guys finally fulfilling their potential and getting rewards for all their self belief.

Riverstown's comments echo my view. Amazing 7 games unbeaten. It is brilliant what can be achieved by a good manager. Better than sleep walking to relegation under the previous incumbent who was clueless. Not the best of performance but that is the mark of a good team to grind out a result when you don't play well. Well done Welling United.

Verdict: We have given ourselves a fighting chance
