Great point. Battling performance.. looked to me like only 2 decent chances on goal second half and they were ours. Top result against a team with 7 wins on the bounce COYW

I will take that result. Braintree were a very efficient team rather than spectacular. You can see why they have been on a good run but also why they dont seem to score that many goals. They didnt create that much really. We are on a good unbeaten run ourselves. Lets keep it up on Tuesday and then on to Yeovil. Anthony Grant was outstanding today by the way. Well done to the squad the manager and all involved today. COYW.

Thought the referee was working straight from the FA rule book.
No common sense, just factual advice drummed into him.
The pitch was blogged, passes being held in the ground, players thinking the ball was going as they expected, but didnt.
How many yellow cards? For a game that probably deserved 3-4
Both pens harsh, and thought after ours the ref was gagging to even it up.
Take the point.
Well earned.

That ref was a double yolker. Gave everything to them when they screamed liked girls and totally misjudged genuine challenges as fouls.  Yellows to us, then nothing for them, then yellows scattered in the second half. Pony.
Good point though and the unbeaten run goes on.  Heavy pitch obviously that didn't suit anyone but I doubt that ref would have had a good game on an ironed snooker table.

Braintree had won their previous 7 games, won 4 of their last 5 games 1 - 0, and were 4th in the table, so our 2 - 2 draw is impressive, as we matched them everywhere on the pitch.

They had beaten us 4 - 1 last time we played them, so great to improve on that result this time in the second half of the season. Truro beat us 5 - 2 in the first meeting, we won the second meeting 3 - 2, so really impressive to see the massive improvements in the second half of the season.

A massive ongoing problem for us is constant annual change of managers, and accompanying massive turnover of players, as each new manager totally rebuilds the squad. Hopefully Rod stays next season. Results show all our players now prove they can succeed in this division, whereas when we lost so often before it was a sad inevitability most would have had to go, as they hadn't shown they were good enough to retain. Now their great performances and results show they're worth retaining. The players will now also see we're worth staying with.

Short term all these great performances in the second half of the season will get us safe, but just as important long term lay groundwork for an exciting next season, as sadly there are only 11 games left for this squad, but I'd love to see as many as possible back next season.

The pitch made for difficult playing conditions, so not the best of spectacles but as we have come to expect another battling performance against one of the leagues better teams. Twice ahead and twice pegged back against a team that had won their previous 7 matches. Indeed we could have won it in the second half but a good point and I'll take that. We proved again this Welling United team have a chance against anyone. I now go to games thinking we might get a result. I am sure this team under this manager would be much higher in the league had they been together at the start of the campaign.

Verdict: Firmly in the mix now

The ref disrupted the games flow by constantly stopping play for incorrectly awarded fouls by us, and resulting free kicks for them. Braintrees ****housery of falling down and claiming free kicks whenever they lost a tackle worked at first when the ref initially believed them. It was obvious what they were up to, so I kindly shared this by shouting out at the ref they fall down every time they are tackled maybe he finally saw that too, and stopped automatically giving them wrong free kicks.

We didnt have the attacking cutting edge of recent games. Although the pitch and the ref played parts in breaking up our quick passing game, our supply to the strikers took a step back in this game, we didnt give strikers enough balls over the top of defenders to run onto, so our strikers had to drop back to get the ball, and as a result our attack was then too deep. More quick supply to strikers was needed!

Our next opponents Farnborough cheat exactly the same way, always diving to get free kicks and yellow cards against us. Hopefully before kick off someone will warn Tuesdays ref not to fall for Farnboroughs tricks.

Oh no, can Welling survive the curse of Alan's support?! With his Arsenal loyalties, I wonder how Arsenal did in the Champion's league against the Portuguese superpower Porto? I wonder how many shots on target Arsenal had in that match?

Alex, this is a welling united fans forum, stop going on about going on about Arsenal. You are new here, so don't know in my 3 years here I've only mentioned them 2 or 3 times, you have talked about them in 50% of your posts! If you care to look at the forum there are posts here about all sorts of non Welling related teams, like Truro, Taunton, Dartford, Torquay, and it is good that is the case, as the Welling fans have come a long way from out of date thinking the only team in the world is Welling United, and I am confident you will eventually think that too. Besides, the Arsenal talk was just banter with Alan, though after all their games scoring 5 or 6 goals, and a goal difference of plus 45 after 27 games, I've a horrible feeling he may have the last laugh!

Onto more useful talk, just seen the highlights, hats off to both teams for playing so well on a understandably bobbly pitch, as it is all very well those Premiership guys playing on their perfect pitches, but I wonder how they would do on non league pitches that place more demands on ball control. Obviously Sonny has made a massive difference, But the massive improvement in defence since Burchell' s return is no coincidence, and like Crossley he adds a lot to our attacking play.

Well done to everyone who helped get the game played on schedule. Rod needs training time to get his ideas across to the players, but if we play tons of Tuesday games that cuts into his training time, and stops the team from having a rest after tiring Saturday games, so the work done by the groundsmen and volunteers to get the Braintree game played keeps us fresh, and so helps us so much long term. Dartford down the road cancelled their game, so that will be come a tiring midweek game for them, cutting into their recovery time.

Me, I'm saying nothing. I leave it to my 'other' team to do the talking for me on the pitch

PS Jimmie, I thought you'd be pleased I've come around to your way of thinking. I'm not getting carried away just yet but think Welling have earned the right to have an opportunity to avoid the drop again. I won't be relaxed until teams have used their games in hand and we are still points ahead of at least 4 of them and no longer playing catch up.

No matter how the season turns out I would like to retain Rod Stringer and a core of our squad for next season
