Good morning everyone. Thought id give everyone a quick update on whats going on around the club in the past week. Last weeks sensational weekend proved to be a turning point for the mindset of many people, not only fans but also players, staff etc. The money earned from the 800 odd attendance vs Dover was substantial, proving that with a bit of effort and communication this club can run sustainably with the right approach to every single game. This money is being used to improve the overall cash flow, and create a better environment for us fans during each matches and other functions we wish to create.

As for updates, Carling is now actually in the bars after the mess up by the brewery, and is going to be served in the bars. The marquee proved to be a great success, so will be open throughout the game selling Madri + the ever popular Lilys cider. As we know, there is a function after the game and that has been accounted for, so, the dartboard will be moved into the upstairs bar for Saturdays home game so us fans can still have the enjoyment of last weekend.

Secondly, all will be revealed with time, however, the club feels to me to be in a lot safer hands now. Strong minded, positive individuals with the heart of the community and football club at the forefront of everyones mind, working together to create a sustainable club. It has been proved last week that when the communication from the top - down is there and open, along side for the opportunity for communication from the fans upwards, it allows us fans to have  a sense of involvement and understanding within the club we love again.

That is why I have taken the responsibility to do the following

  • Regular communication channels (either weekly or fortnightly) of various updates, events and other news surrounding the club that is necessary for us fans to know and be involved with.
  • Open communication with fans, via social media, the forum and in the bars before and after games to really find out what will make each and everyones matchday experience that little bit better.

This may not sound significant, however, with regular communication of factual information, there can be no stories / made up events circulating giving the club that negative word of mouth. Last season and beyond we have had a huge issue of false information being passed around, and this has to change ASAP, emphasising the need for open communication from the top. I completely understand that not everything will always be 100% perfect, however, regular communication allows room for improvement and transparency from the board to the fans and vice versa. I will be announcing further ways us fans will have the opportunity to get involved over the summer.

I hope everyone reading this appreciates that the wrongs of the past are trying to be corrected, only small steps so far, however multiple small steps in the right direction leads to an overall improvement for the club. We want PVR to be the place to be in our community.

Thanks guys - Jake!

Nice one Jake for taking this on as I think it's important there is a good link between fans and owners, and this is not a forum for owners or staff - so a weekly feed of what's going on from your perspective is great. Over on official channels, it would be nice to see an interview or two with the owners throughoutthe year. I wouldn't know them if I was sat next to them!

Fantastic work mate. Almost like what an independent supporters association should be doing

I would suggest treating me as a source of the official channels. There is only limited information an official club page can post. All will be revealed soon however the information I am passing on is part of my role, and is completely factual. The communication is improving and will only get better. Also, Howard has been far more involved this season than the last few, I am not saying everything is perfect, however, as a club we are working to correct the wrongs of the past and make sure they dont happen again. I hope you understand!

Well done Jake. I do hope the club are going to continue to have Bexley brewery supply their excellent bottled ales.

Well done Jake - your efforts are to be highly commended in an environment where it's easy to criticise and much harder to do something positive and make it right. A very simple example was the choice of drinks and changes to the bar and atmosphere ahead of the Dover game. That was enough for me to spend some money in the bar as opposed to what I would have done before.

All I will say - and there is little you or anyone other than the owners can do about it - is that 'customers' needed to be treated with respect too. I'm more of a part time supporter these days given my other commitments but speaking to lads who go regularly, what has upset them the most has been the owners almost demanding them to spend their money at the club and doing it in a very unfriendly way. We all know too that there are people linked closely to the owner whose threatening behaviour has been very unbefitting of a football club at this level, and more akin to Sunday football where fists threaten to fly on a regular basis. That simply can't be allowed to happen otherwise all the good work that you and others are doing will be undone very quickly. People spend £000s every year in season tickets, travel, beers etc and to have people attached to the club threatening them isn't acceptable ever

Keep up your good work. Its nice that we have younger fans committed to making it a better place to come and watch football

Continued thanks for your excellent comms Jake; it's certainly making a key difference.

Do these strong-minded, positive individuals have names (at least - photos, backgrounds and skillsets wouldn't go amiss either).

Will the club be geared up for the grand national this weekend?
Some good horse racing prior (all on ITV)
Just a heads up, as there will no doubt be some interest in this.
Can we have a screen in the marquee with some sound for the whole days racing?
Thank You.

Hello, your comments are very much appreciated. This is the first I have personally heard about this, and I will be reporting it. Hopefully this does not happen again.

Hello, the grand national is @4pm. It can be put on, however, the 2nd half is also due to kick off at the same time, just bear that in mind!

Timings aren't great with the National moved forward to 4pm now. Only 3 races before 3pm even if ITV decide to televise all of them, which obviously isn't guaranteed.

According to the guide on the television ITV are saying they are showing the first four races.
