On the topic of the redevelopment of the ground. As I understand it the Determination Deadline and the Internal Target Date for Bexley Council was Thur 9 May. What is the latest position now?

Thanks for the opportunity, and already a good question in the thread. My question probably comes from my own ignorance of the club structure - I see recent success for the Wings U23 & U16 etc from other sources online, but nothing mentioned on Official Wings platforms...
Are these teams connected? Are there pathways through? And if so, are there any plans to better connect up the wider Wings family of teams both in terms of physical links and online support?
Asking as an interested fan, with zero knowledge of behind the scenes.
I have heard unofficially we will be at PVR JHSetc for next season and the season after that too, could we have something stated about
1 when we could expect a development decision to be made by the council,
2 then if it is granted, the first season we would be playing home games at a temporary other ground and
3 how many seasons we would be playing away from PVR JHSetc.
It is great we now have this direct communication route between fans and the board, as previously when I had a major concern about the club I had no clear way to raise it to the board.

WUSA was the body that ignored fans singing "we want Feeney out", club officials swearing at players in matches, club associates threatening fans, and whose only comment last season was the request for fans to get behind the manager, which clearly in no way represented most WUSA fans' thinking.
So it is good a wider, more representative voice for the fans is now in place.

Thank you for clarifying jimmie, enjoy your summer.
My question will be can we add more baby changing units in as the only one is only located in the ladies toilets which isnt any good for dads who bring babies.
I have a question around The Great Welling Beerfest 24 which is being held on the ground at end of July. Firstly I applaud the club for hosting this event. However I'm a little worried at what effect this will have on the pitch so close to the start of the league season, especially as a lot of work and money appears to have been spent on the pitch at the end of the season. How will the event run with regards positioning of the real ale bar, stage for the bands and where will the punters be allowed to go? Will this all happen on the pitch? Having been to previous events held at The Guy and The Roses pubs all this happened in their beer gardens outside.
Some fantastic questions in this thread really great to see the fan involvement improving. Please be aware, some questions might not have an answer yet, if they dont I will try my best to justify it. Thats down to the time of year (early off season). Questions will be answered towards the end of the week after the meeting.
Please bare with the replies, you will get your answer. Currently taking my A-levels at the same time

Have a good week !
Good luck on your A Levels. Trust me, if I was able to speak as eloquently as you (from your online interviews) when I was 18 (or even now) - I'd be very happy. No stress about answers. This open communication is great but we all need to bear in mind at this level of football - it's a nice to have. Keep up the great work and enthusiasm.

Hello! Ill try and keep this as brief as I can. Essentially, the club put in plans for the redevelopment and the council have come back with a positive counter offer to our original plans. This is a positive step as they are engaging with us showing they are in favour of redeveloping the site. We spoke to the developers last night, we should have an update from the council at the end of this week / early next week, with a more significant update to be able to share. Im sure everyone can understand major redevelopment projects can take 12 months plus to go through, so its all about patience!
When will the official design of the new home and away shirts be available and also pre-orders taken ?
Hi Alan, we are still in the process of working things out with dates etc. When its finalised it will be realised. I think Dave in the club shop will be best to speak too regarding pre orders. What I do know is kits have been ordered for next season!

Hello, firstly I would like to congratulate the academy u23s on their success. As many already do know, the academy and Welling United are two separate entities with the academy having the rights to use the name of the club under a contract. As far as im aware this is due to end soon. Our focus is working consistently to improve Welling United at Park View Road, which if we keep progressing like we are has the potential to attract 1,000+ fans per game. We need all the help we can get, its never going to be easy but we want our club to succeed!

Jimmie, all three of your questions have either briefly already been touched on or there just is no answer yet. Works and plans behind the scenes are in place 24/7 to find solutions as to where we will play etc. No false information can be released, we have had issues of this in the past and it is not acceptable to release information that is not true. Im sure you can understand. There should be an update from the council in the next week or two, its a long process!
Waiting for Charlton to open their eyes and continue our long lasting tradition and then all will be released. No point releasing some fixtures, when we have a completed list all dates times and clubs will be released.
Could the Operations Board have an e mail address that is placed on the club site and in the programme, as that will help fans who don't read this forum know how to raise questions to the board.
All this new communication is so helpful, the club issues updates on big issues, but there are lots of smaller issues they wouldn't publicly address but which are still of interest to fans, like, say, which beers are sold at the ground, and up til now there has been no way to get these smaller but still important questions across.
I'm really pleased how Howard has become much more higher profile, as I'd no idea of who he was until he was at the development meeting and gave a very helpful overview of the club situation, and have since chatted to him briefly a couple of times, and it is great to have an owner with higher visibility.
I think the Operations Board is a big step forward, as if one only has one fan representative for the board inevitably what they say to the board will be influenced by their own views, so having several fans with different viewpoints communicating with the board gives a more balanced and reflective view and offer more challenges.
I am a member of WUSA, I was pleased that WUSA organised coaches to matches last season, I went to some away games I'd not have been able to go to otherwise, and the WUSA meetings have been great in keeping fans up to date with developments and the background context to them, so is well worth joining if one wants to know what is going on behind the scenes, or wants to help influence things.

What was WUSA then?
I think its important to recognise that over the years communication from the club has been next to nothing, causing different groups around the ground to have different stories and views on something and it spiralling out of control. Me and the board of fans have came in and our main immediate goal is to be transparent and openly communicate with fans about what their club is doing / where we are going wrong etc. There will obviously be flaws to it, we arent perfect, however improvements have been made recently especially with fan - club relationship.
My question will be can we add more baby changing units in as the only one is only located in the ladies toilets which isnt any good for dads who bring babies.
Its being looked into for you. Please take into consideration the lack of space in the mens toilets, if we can improve changing facilities it may take a bit longer than expected to implement it in a suitable space.

Hi Mark, great question it has been a personal concern of myself recently. As far as I am aware, the bars will be positioned around the pitch, utilising our marquee and the space around the ground etc. Regarding the pitch I believe that rubber mats (I think) will be put down onto the grass as a layer of protection. The positioning of the stage will be over the sideline barriers to there will be little impact on the pitch regarding that. Hopefully there shouldnt be much of an impact on the pitch as plans are in place to combat the amount of people on there
What's happening with the relationship between the club and the academy?
Check a previous reply regarding the matter
I believe we can now safely assume that the line of accession has fractured, to the extent that there is no longer a relationship between Welling United FC and the Academy.

Just send me a message and Ill tell you an answer, its worked so far. Doesnt have to be major answers even if it is niche. Happy to help. My answers are a representation of the operational board

The reason that Jimmie suggested an email address is that some people don't want to post on this forum, or don't even look at it.
I hope its not too late for this question. Has the club secured a training facility for next season and are the team training mornings or evenings? Thanks.
Thanks for the replies this thread is very useful. You mentioned that the contract that allows the Academy to use the Welling United name is ending soon. Do you know if the club has the intention to set up it's own academy when it gets the name back; (I know the name has been franchised out in the past to Corinthian and Kingsmoor before returning to the club) or will the club be just the Men and Women's teams?

As I said previously, we are 100% focused to ensure the success of Welling United and will do anything to get us back where we belong.

Doesn't having a pathway from a successful academy improve the prospects? David Kamara would have been useful when we were struggling for goals after Sonny Fish was recalled.

I completely agree. I cannot emphasise it anymore, we are taking steps to ensure that we have a fully functioning club, with different levels using the Welling name.
